Will Louisiana Revolt? Or Mississippi?

Since we all expect that SCOTUS will nuke State Constitutions and laws against queer "marriage," which State will lead the revolution and simply refuse to change its laws or Constitution?  And not recognize the SCOTUS decision as binding?

Louisiana?  Mississippi?  Montana?  Wyoming?

Certainly won't be Wisconsin.  No guts.

(Another) Fool on the Hill

Sensenbrenner, Ryan, Baldwin, Duffy--all of them--are continuing the extremely generous Federal health-bennies for their employees who are also paid VERY nice salaries and get extraordinary pensions, too!!

How did they do that with ObozoCare, which on its face requires Congressional employees to purchase from "exchanges"?

They lied.  Yah.  I know the story about the scorpion and the frog.  So they lied.

It's what they do.

This damn fool, a Senator, is prototypical.

Chisholm Goes Ape-Shit

Remarked upon by the Legal Beagle of sanity in Wisconsin.

The elected District Attorney of Milwaukee County actually suggested that someone who criticized him should be charged with a crime.

Let's start with the easy part. ...The question is not whether Walker was "right" or "wrong." At minimum, one would have to show that Walker made statements of fact (not opinion). At minimum, one would have to show, beyond a reasonable doubt, that he knew the statements were untrue or acted with reckless disregard of their truth and falsity. Even then, there remain serious constitutional questions regarding the criminalization of political speech. There is no way - not in this country - that such a prosecution could ever succeed.

But the problem here is larger than a single lawyer's understanding of constitutional law or appreciation for the First Amendment. Any lawyer who suggests that political speech should be criminally prosecuted might expect to be laughed at. But when that lawyer has the power to invoke the machinery of the criminal law, it is no longer a laughing matter.

It's more clear why Kluka suddenly bailed out of this whole fermenting pile of crap.  She saw the actual nature of Chisholm, his little Rasputin Landgraf, and Francis Schmitz--not to mention the utterly craven activists at Government Accountability Board in Madistan.

Throw 'Em Out? Hell, LYNCH the Frauds in Congress

Did you know that the House and Senate have declared themselves to be "small businesses" in order to fatten up the health-bennies given to Members and staffers under ObozoCare?

(Does Senselessbrenner admit this in his "home visits"?  Ryan?  Duffy?)

Did you know (almost as shocking) that these "small businesses" employ over 13,000 people?

And finally (here's the lynch-the-bastards part) did you know that they've voted to keep secret exactly who signed those fraudulent "small biz" documents?

You've been screwed blue and tattooed, again, by the Ruling Class.

Buy some rope next time you're buying ammo.

The KGB's Theologian

This is timely, given the current wobbling about the topic.

...Liberation theology, of which not much has been heard for two decades, is back in the news. But what is not being mentioned is its origins. It was not invented by Latin American Catholics. It was developed by the KGB. The man who is now the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, secretly worked for the KGB under the code name “Mikhailov” and spent four decades promoting liberation theology, which we at the top of the Eastern European intelligence community nicknamed Christianized Marxism....

Since JPII was well-acquainted with the Russkis' bag of tricks, he knew what was going on, and condemned "Christianized Marxism" from the get-go.  B-16 knew it, too.

But it's coming back around.  Watch for it at your local dime-store convent or in certain "prestigious" universities which pretend to be Catholic.

RoJo's Decline Accelerates

Maybe Ron Johnson doesn't really want to be re-elected.

When voting to confirm Lynch for AG, he issued a statement in which he said "elections matter."

(Except the election of 2014 when the (D) Party lost its Senate majority.  Thanks to Ron Johnson and other pussies, however, the (D) Party still retains control of the Senate.)

Goodie! NSA Spying Funded Again!!

The oleaginous Majority Leader protects his own.

The NSA will likely get a gift from Sen. Mitch McConnell this week: a massive reauthorization of their metadata collection and surveillance program, codified in the PATRIOT Act. Even though the NSA's practice of invading privacy to collect cell phone information is uniformly unpopular with both parties, and measures have been taken to reform the process and even interrupt the NSA's authority, in pursuit of a perfect record of completion for the Senate, McConnell is bypassing objectors and shoving the bill through. It could allow the NSA to keep scanning your phone bills for evidence of your terrorist activities through 2020.

Did you ever doubt that there is a Ruling Class?  It's bi-partisan, of course.  We have the (D) Chisholm neo-Nazi and the (R) McConnell Stasi-enabler.

In case you can't tell the difference, McConnell is fatter and shorter.

Oh, by the way:  don't buy ammo over the phone, or on the 'net.

Kirk on Socialism and Capitalism

As one might expect, clear vision from Kirk.

He quotes Roepke:

“Socialism—helped by the uprooted proletarian existence of large numbers of the working class and made palatable for them by just as rootless intellectuals, who will have to bear the responsibility for this—is less concerned with the interests of these masses than with the interests of these intellectuals, who may indeed see their desire for an abundant choice of positions of power fulfilled by the socialist state.

Sure looks that way after 6 years of the Marxist White House, ain'a?

But he's equally sanguine about "capitalism".

The “capitalist” ideologues who proclaim that the Holy Market is the be-all and end-all are working their own destruction. As truly private property gives way to colossal mergers and combinations, the prediction of Marx is increasingly fulfilled: monopolies and oligopolies find few defenders in rough times, and are converted readily into agencies of the state. As the liberals’ moral nihilism dissolves the inner order and the outer, truly things fall apart....

....a lesson for which Tim Carney provides evidence every single day.  Or--if you don't want to look him up--look at how the public utilities (monopolies) are tax collectors for Big Green of D.C.  Another:  Big Health (Hospitals/Insurers/Pharmas), now obsequious servants to Obozo.

Judge Kluka (Nazi Sympathizer) and the SSSF

Seems like Judge Kluka--who authorized the neo-Nazi raids of Chisholm and Schmitz--plays the Little Catholic Girl card on the side.

Barbara Kluka is a long-time associate who was born, raised, and has lived most of her life near Kenosha, Wisconsin. As a single person, she has pursued a life of quiet holiness since childhood, when she learned to play the organ and played at daily Masses and for funerals in her parish.

Barbara attended St. Joseph High School in Kenosha, where she became acquainted with the School Sisters of St. Francis community*. Sister Ruth La Mothe was one of her teachers. She introduced Barbara to others sisters and brought her...

...Now that she is retired, Barbara is available to go where she can be of service in many areas, such as occasionally filling in as court commissioner or doing private mediations. She teaches occasional classes in Business Law at an area college, and attends meetings and events with the sisters at St. Joseph Center in Milwaukee....

How very sweet. But it gets better!

...Her greatest cause for optimism is that the present economic situation has given people an opportunity to examine what is really important in their lives. She hopes this examination will strengthen family life and improve the care of children....

Oh, yes, FAMILIES!!  Like the ones whose homes were plundered by the SturmGewehr; whose children still have nightmares over the pre-dawn armed raids.

Yes, Barbara, it's For the Children.

Perspicacious readers will recognize the importance of St Joseph/Kenosha, by the way.

*Actually, the old OSF order, which ran Alverno College and occupied the S. Layton Blvd motherhouse.  Area Catholics will recall that Alverno was a hotbed of Leftism in the '60's.  That Leftism is vestigially present even though the OSF order was subsumed into the SSSF's--which was another order entirely.

Phil Klein Has Bizarre Dislike for Americans

The Beltway Boyzzz issue a bitch-slap at Walker.

Typical Beltway.

Another Look at the Rockefellers

Bits and pieces of US history are not kind to the Rockefeller family, who were murderous thugs with a LOT of money.

...The conflict had begun the previous September. About 11,000 miners in southern Colorado went on strike against the powerful Colorado Fuel & Iron Corporation (CF&I) to protest low pay, dangerous working conditions, and the company’s autocratic dominance over the workers’ lives. The CF&I, which was owned by the Rockefeller family and Standard Oil, responded to the strike by immediately evicting the miners and their families from company-owned shacks. With help from the United Mine Workers, the miners moved with their families to canvas tent colonies scattered around the nearby hills and continued to strike.

When the evictions failed to end the strike, the Rockefeller interests hired private detectives that attacked the tent colonies with rifles and Gatling guns. The miners fought back, and several were killed. When the tenacity of the strikers became apparent, the Rockefellers approached the governor of Colorado, who authorized the use of the National Guard. The Rockefellers agreed to pay their wages
....

More at Sipsey Street.

That's one reason that I've been ambivalent about "right to work" laws.

My Grandfather....

My grandfather left Germany before the Nazis took over.

He landed in Wisconsin, where the Nazis took over.

RoJo AWOL Again

RoJo's been doing his campaigning (Jay Weber, cheerleader-in-chief) partly on his Senate position as Chair, Homeland Security and Gummint Affairs.  He's telling us that this is an Important Slot!!  that he has because ....well.....Important Slot!!

What's not so important to RoJo?  The First Amendment.

...On March 18, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), along with Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), introduced a pair of joint resolutions to disapprove and nullify the D.C. laws – S. J. Res. 10 to disapprove of RHNDA and S. J. Res. 11 to disapprove of the Human Rights Amendment Act.  Congress only has 30 legislative days to countermand the laws, and the parliamentarians have set that calendar date at May 4.

Accordingly, Republicans have a unique opportunity to force a privileged motion on the floor that is not subject to a filibuster nor can be amended.  But time is of the essence.  Furthermore, these resolutions of disapproval can only obtain privileged status if they are passed out of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and if the resolutions originate in the Senate first.

Sadly, the committee chairman, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) has not scheduled a markup for either resolution all month, and there are only two weeks remaining.  Nobody in leadership is willing to touch these bills with a ten foot pole. They have all offered a torrent of excuses as to why they lack the time to conduct a markup and half-day floor consideration of the resolutions.  Evidently, confirming Loretta Lynch and passing the Corker ‘Democrat loin cloth Iran bill’ is of more importance...

This line is particularly telling:

Nobody ever assumed that Johnson would have the courage to stare down Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), his home state Democrat on the committee, with regards to the anti-religious bigotry of the sexual identity agenda,...

It's more and more apparent that RoJo is merely a gadfly who was elected to the Senate.  After his first year--when he actually did what he said he would do--he became just another lump of rhetoric.  A tool.

Too bad.  He's a nice guy.

Red Flags Over "Justice" System

The Chisholm abomination joins the Lerner abomination.

...It's a common conceit among lawyers that our legal system is the justice system - which is not fully true: It's a justice system and a pretty good one at that but it's not the only system of justice. So there's an assumption that if the legal system is manipulated and even blocked, then there's simply no recourse at all for those on the receiving end of this treatment and so they'll just accept it. Which is clearly what the above people and their allies seem to believe. Well out of inertia of trust in the system this is true up to a point - but only up to a point.

But when that trust that justice will actually be delivered is finally broken, stoic acceptance of the jiggered results of a broken system can no longer be counted upon either. Instead you will see a reversion to the older, rougher justice delivery firmware that's embedded in our DNA and it will be ugly. But not necessarily unjust.

Given that people have had their lives destroyed for merely making a bad joke on social media, wearing the wrong shirt, answering a hypothetical question about catering incorrectly, and using the wrong ordering of words in a phrase, not to mention threatened with jail for the act of committing politics, I see no reason that Chisholm, Kluka, Lerner, and Machen who have done far worse should be able to walk the streets and go through life comfortably and carefree....

We don't, either.  This is something we've been pressing for several years; the perversion of "justice" will inevitably lead to civil disorder.

Walker's New Immigration Stand: GOOD!

Seems that Gov. Walker has done a bit of research.

...Walker became the first declared or potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate to stake out a position on immigration fully in line with that of Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest chairman Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)....

Specifically:

" ...the next president and the next congress need to make decisions about a legal immigration system that’s based on, first and foremost, on protecting American workers and American wages,..."

His "secure the border" rhetoric is much stronger.  And here's something new:

"Then I think you need to enforce the law and the way you effectively do that is to require every employer in America to use an effective E-Verify system and by effective I mean you need to require particularly small businesses and farmers and ranchers. We got to have a system that works, but then the onus is on the employers and the penalties have to be steep that they’re only hiring people who are here, who are legal to be here. No amnesty, if someone wants to be a citizen, they have to go back to their country of origin and get in line behind everybody else who’s waiting...."

This leaves Cruz (et al) behind by a lap or two.

The Cost of ObozoCare Is Very High

We know a couple who both work outside the home.

His employer offers health insurance which has total deductibles/copays of around $4,000/year (single coverage) in addition to premium payments of ~$200/month.  Her employer offers health insurance (family) with deductibles/copays of around $5,000/year but there is no visible premium charged for coverage.  (It's buried in the pay-scale.)

This year, her employer decided to back-charge for 'spousal coverage'.  The reason?  The Company now has ObozoCare compliant insurance and it's considerably more expensive than last year's plan.

So she is now paying $300.00/month in premiums in addition to whatever is "buried" in the pay-scale, with exactly the same deductible/copay scheme as was in force last year.

IOW, ObozoCare added $3600/year in insurance costs for this couple, who are lower-middle class folks.

They'll survive, of course.  But that $3600.00 is money which will not be spent someplace else.  It's a deduct straight off the bottom line.

There are 3-4,000 other folks working for her company who have just gotten a similar kick in the ass from Obozo.

But RoJo doesn't really want to fight this thing too hard, ya'know.

Common Sense Foreign Wars

And now, a few words of common sense regarding US foreign affairs.

The more active America’s foreign policy, the more the United States has to spend on the military: the “defense” budget is the price of Washington’s foreign policy. American military personnel and contractors die. Enemies are created, some of whom become terrorists. A national security state develops.

Thus, Americans committed to limited government and individual liberty should support a foreign policy based on humility and restraint. An imperial foreign policy like that today inevitably inflates–indeed, requires–a Leviathan state.

Some "conservatives" are unable to add 2+2 and get the above equasion to balance.  They're not "conservative."  They are either Statists or idiots.

More nuance in the column, with which I agree.

Federal Fraud? No Problem!!

So three Freddie Mac officials lied about lousy loans.

Guilty.

No jail, no probation, and because insurance, not even $1.00 in penalties paid.

Who says there's a Ruling Class?

Obama "Caved" on the Iran Treaty? Of Course!

The Usual Suspects (the Pubbies in the Senate) have handed Obozo a free pass on the Iran treaty.

MSM, dummies that they are, applaud because Obozo 'caved' and agreed to sign the bill.

There are just two problems.  First, it's un-Constitutional.  Second, Obozo will get whatever "treaty" he comes up with.

7 Days, 7 Killings: Milwaukee

Tom Barrett's Milwaukee is ....ahh......depopulating itself.  Seven homicides in seven days.

According to Barrett, it's all the fault of the Republican concealed-carry law.

Oh, yah, don't forget to send a few hundred million State tax dollars to Barrett's murder-town for a new Bucks arena.  They deserve it, or something.

RoJo's Debt-Bomb Vote

The "doc fix" bill went through the Senate.

Our "conservative" Senator--the one who promised to do everything possible to repeal ObozoCare--voted for the debt-bomb bill.

There were three votes.  On two of them, RoJo did the right thing.  Those are the ones you'll hear about in his campaign.

On the third, for final passage, RoJo voted with the debt-bomb people because Feinie would say mean things about him if he didn't.

Harassing Bundy or ISIS? BLM's Choice

The Bureau of Land Management spent a bunch of resources harassing a rancher in Nevada.  See, "in Nevada" means that someone is in Harry Reid's personal fiefdom--so BLM has good reason to be there.

Too bad they're not a little bit south/southeast, eh?

...Mexican intelligence sources report that ISIS intends to exploit the railways and airport facilities in the vicinity of Santa Teresa, NM (a US port-of-entry). The sources also say that ISIS has “spotters” located in the East Potrillo Mountains of New Mexico (largely managed by the Bureau of Land Management) to assist with terrorist border crossing operations. ISIS is conducting reconnaissance of regional universities; the White Sands Missile Range; government facilities in Alamogordo, NM; Ft. Bliss; and the electrical power facilities near Anapra and Chaparral, NM....

Not Harry Reid's personal area, and ...who knows?.....maybe BLM guys could get hurt, or something.

ObozoNomics: The Credit Crunch

Reliable source is the Credit Managers' Index.

By far the most disturbing is the rejection of credit applications as this has fallen from an already weak 48.1 to 42.9. This is credit crunch territory—unseen since the very start of the recession. Suddenly companies are having a very hard time getting credit.

A while back, we noticed that the price of copper was dropping.  That's "The Old Farts' Leading Economic Indicator" for you young'uns who think that APPL stock is some sort of tin god.

It ain't.

Then we noticed a significant fall-off in large-ticket consumer purchases--like automobiles.  Trucks are holding their own; but cars?  Falling sales through 2014 and so far through 2015.  (Local data, not Big Three propaganda.)

Then there's the consumer credit side--which is also dropping, except for college loans and (to a much smaller extent) auto loans. (No, that's not a contradiction; the average car transaction is now around $31K, so borrowed dollars mount up very quickly even with a smaller 'units sold' number.)

And, of course, there are the horrific family-income and family-assets numbers coupled with the decrease in working Americans and the concomitant increase in 'shadow unemployment.'

Keep the weather eye peeled.

BATF, NRA, Bedfellows. Surprised?

The news from the NRA Convention is that a bunch of the usual slimeball Ruling Class politicians are engaged in a three-way with the NRA and BATFE to 'tweak' the 'sporting purposes' phrase in the law dealing with weapons.

This raises the question:  what part of the Second Amendment addresses "sporting purposes"?  But I digress.

What you are seeing is another manifestation of DC's Disease.  Lobbyists, politicians, and regulators (the Ruling Class) making certain that they will be comfortable.

Fuggedabout all that Constitutional crap and 'the people.'

Cruz: "Show Me"

Gee.  This applies to a Wisconsin politician or five, even though they're not (currently) running for higher office.

Sayeth Ted the Great:

..."For far too long politicians have said one thing and done another. Everyone of us should ask any candidate that shows up in front of you, 'You say you believe these principles, show me. When have you stood up and fought for them, when have you bled for them, and what have you accomplished?'" he said to cheers.

Cruz, who has battled Obama on healthcare, immigration and gun rights, made the challenge as a way to show off his battle scars, an approach that won approval from the NRA group.

"You know," he said, "I had a former boss who used to say, 'If I'm ever accused of being a Christian, I'd like there to be enough evidence to convict me.'  [Outstanding applause line, BTW]

"The same is true of being a conservative. In a Republican primary every candidate is going to stand up and say, 'I oppose Obamacare.' The question we ought to ask is, 'Great, when have you stood up and fought to stop Obamacare!' And every candidate is going to say they don't support amnesty. Alright, great, 'When have you stood up and fought the president's illegal and unconstitutional executive action?'"...

At last report, RoJo was still chasing a squirrel that Obozo showed him.  Something about the 30-, 50-, and 2,994-year effects of unsustainable government spending and debt.

Good, RoJo.  Good boy.

Screwtape and Educators

Baudelaire, or all people, wrote a short poem which included this observation:

...The devil, seemingly a propos of nothing, confides to the human that he always hovers, albeit invisibly, over academic gatherings. That, from the diabolic perspective, is the ideal environment. In that setting it is so easy to inspire the consciences, the writings, and the very vocabulary of the pedagogues....

I always suspected that the educrat argot was....... ahhh.... fiendish.

HT:  Crisis/Maurice

Chesterton on The Hatred

G K Chesterton knew a few things--enough to have nailed the Obama/Muslim/Secularist jihad.

All of them are guided by a certain light which:

"has never darkened; a white fire clinging to that group like an unearthly phosphorescence, blazing its track through the twilights of history:... the halo of hatred around the Church of God."

Indeed.

Californication

California continues to earn its reputation.

...Superior Court Judge M. Marc Kelly told an Orange County jury that 20-year-old Kevin Jonas Rojano-Nieto 'did not intend to harm' the three-year-old girl he raped at his family home in June....

Therefore,

... [he] reduced a child rapist's mandatory 25-year sentence down to only 10 - saying anything longer would be 'cruel and unusual punishment'.

Ya'd think that the Drought would have served as a warning--like the other plagues mentioned in another time.  But no.

Conservatives for Israel? Really?

In the age of Obozo, the term "the national interest" has been trampled into the ground, principally by Obozo.

At least on the domestic front.

But that term, "the national interest" has far more meaning on the international scene.  And it may well be that "the national interest" is best served with less fervor for Israel.

...Adelson, Paul Singer, and other right-wing, pro-Israel donors, their spending unleashed by the Citizens United Supreme Court decision, have pushed the GOP past the Democrats as recipients of “pro-Israel” PAC money.... If Sheldon Adelson and Paul Singer had tried to purchase the Mideast policy of the Republican Party 20 or 30 years ago, they would have failed, even under the new campaign finance rules....

And then there's Rupert Murdoch's $3 million/year subsidy of Warmonger Billy Kristol:

...Before the Standard, National Review was the most important conservative magazine, pro-Israel but hardly obsessively so, and open to an array of perspectives. James Burnham, the magazine’s principal strategic thinker through the 1970s, was highly skeptical of the Israel-U.S. alliance. But by the 1990s, Burnham was dead and NR had a wealthy competitor, one which could count on a reported $3 million annual subsidy from Murdoch (while Buckley had labored for years to keep NR afloat with four- and five-figure donations). Leading neoconservatives, including editors of the Standard, played the anti-Semite card against key National Review figures: aggressively in the case of Joseph Sobran, with more subtlety in the case of John O’Sullivan and Richard Neuhaus. By the late 1990s, National Review had capitulated...

However:

...there are underlying dynamics in the Middle East which all of Sheldon Adelson’s money cannot overcome. Most important is that Iran has clearly become one of the more stable, modern, and democratic countries in the region. Another is that Israel is becoming a harder sell to Americans. As David Shulman put it in the New York Review of Books, “What really counts is that the Israeli electorate is still dominated by hypernationalist, in some cases protofascist, figures. It is in no way inclined to make peace.” Information flows quite freely in the age of the Internet, and these Mideast realities are slowly seeping into the American consciousness....

In other words, the Propaganda Machine of Netanyahu, Adelson, Singer, Kristol, et.al., is going to be hard-pressed to blot out the realities on the ground.

Even if one is not inclined to believe that 'Iran...[is]..one of the more stable...democratic countries in the region,' it is certainly the case that Israel is very bellicose, indeed.  This will not play well with the American public, which is revolted by the possibility of another US participation in a Mideast war.

An Issue for Tomorrow's Conservative Gathering

Wiggy has advertised tomorrow's Dohnal-fest; speakers will include Ryan, Johnson, and Grothmann.

Maybe someone will care to toss this little item into the mix:

...Contrary to Republican groupthink, traditional conservatives don’t see the gay marriage issue as a “one issue voter” does.  They don’t have temper tantrums.  They don’t “hate gays.” But, if it is to last, the party must stand for traditional marriage, AND limited government, AND a foreign policy that protects our national interests as well as our allies, AND low taxes, AND border security, AND a vibrant economy through the relentless application of capitalism.

Platform aside, if the party could simply do what they claim to be in favor of, libertarians and the youth will vote for their own upward mobility, and cease their fixation on the mess that radical egalitarianism produces.

Yah, well, I dare you to do so.

Watch them all run away and hide, like they did on the budget, ObozoCare, and illegal immigration.

Red Light On at HRC's Place

Chris Muir and AOSHQ have nailed it.

Price has gone up since the '90's, too, but no dead bodies--yet.

Mo' Bush? How About Mo' LBJ??

Doing his damndest to alienate every Conservative in the US:

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush said he would strive to be like Lyndon Johnson, the Democrat famous for expanding the U.S. welfare state through the “Great Society,” if he were elected president.  --quoted at MoonBattery

If you look up "criminal enterprise" you'll find the Johnson Administration as the second or third definition.  Maybe Jeb admires that sort of governance model.

Not "Hillary"?

Apparently it is offensive to refer to Mrs. Clinton as "Hillary."

OK.

I'll go back to "harpy bitch".  People know who that is.

Schimel's Excellent Start

Well, our new AG is doing exactly what he should do.

Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel has appealed a federal judge's ruling striking down a law that required doctors performing abortions to first obtain admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.

Conley's decision is bogus, of course.

Moynihan Vanquished: The Triumph of Radicalism

Here's an essay worth reading, based on three short books about Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

A pull-quote which reverberates today:

...Moynihan’s older liberalism identified deeply with America even as it acknowledged its failings. It respected facts and evidence. But the new liberalism, the radicalism of the late sixties that captivated educated elites, was shot through with an irrational anti-Americanism. “Radical politics,” explained Michael Novak at the time, “is so much the province of the affluent . . . that it fairly reeks of class bias,” a bias against “middle America.” Moynihan feared that “a society suffused with the alienation of its elites” would be “a society that courts—if not totalitarianism, at least statism.” He saw “totalitarian seeds in the new politics of who thinks what, and who feels how.” Moynihan understood that anti-Americanism was a useful lever for liberal elites who insisted that their inclinations be propitiated lest they undermine American society from within....

As the essayist sees it, Moynihan was a modern-day Burke.

Well.  Nothing has changed; if anything, it's worse.  Sic transit....

Cruz: It's a War on the Catholic Church

Ted Cruz jumped into 2nd place in the polls for a reason:  he gets it--and it's not just the Middle East anymore.

"This is today a war on the Catholic Church. This is today a war on believers of any faith whose religious teachings are not entirely in concert with the rigid dogma of the far left.

Just last year, every single Senate Democrat voted in favor of legislation that would have gutted the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

It was a sad day in the United States Senate, and ... I gave a speech ... standing alongside a picture of John F. Kennedy who said 'if a man will not stand for religious liberty, I will not stand with you.'

Given what we've seen of late in the Middle East, tell me:  what's the difference between the Obozo/Holder Democrats and ISIS--other than the choice of weapons?

Now YOU Pay to Transport Illegals Here!

Since Boehner/Ryan have given up the power of the purse, the purse will be spent!!

To facilitate the often treacherous process of entering the United States illegally through the southern border, the Obama administration is offering free transportation from three Central American countries and a special refugee/parole program with “resettlement assistance” and permanent residency. …

The new arrivals will be officially known as Central American Minors (CAM) and they will be eligible for a special refugee/parole that offers a free one-way flight to the U.S. from El Salvador, Guatemala or Honduras. The project is a joint venture between the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the State Department.

And there's more!!

The candidates will then be granted a special refugee parole, which includes many taxpayer-funded perks and benefits. Among them is a free education, food stamps, medical care and living expenses.

Nice.

Has-Been (R) Queer "Marriage" Supporters

Courtesy of RedState, we find a few familiar names on the amicus asking SCOTUS to override the Constitutions of 31++ States and impose that which is contrary to nature.  The easily-recognized names:

Dan Blum, Deputy Campaign Manager, Scott Walker 2011/12, RNC Analyst 2007/09

Rudy Giuliani

Liz Mair, former online commo specialist for Walker

Paul Wolfowitz

Ben Domenech, ex-TThompson speechwriter

...and a few more.

The list consists largely of has-beens, heavily salted with campaign consultants from the Romney (loser), McCain (loser), and Giuliani (loser) groups.  It's also heavily salted with lawyers and lots of Bush-Cheney creatures, both appointees and campaign detritus.

Answer the Question, Gov. Walker!

Sykes' program this morning, first guest is Scott Walker.

Sykes asks 'would you sign the Indiana [RFRA] bill?'

Walker carries on about the Wisconsin constitution (and SCOWI's decision) which does the same thing.

But Scott did NOT answer the question--and Sykes didn't press.

Continuing the "No Controversy Here" theme.
