As we all know, Mitt Romney managed to lose an election that was, frankly, his to lose.
There was another effect in Wisconsin: Tammy Baldwin. As it turned out, Wisconsin voters couldn't stomach Romney's mini-me Tommy Thompson, either--and for the same reasons.
So by default, and (R)-Establishment-fault, we have another anarchist in the Senate.
...U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin says that if Congress won't act on immigration reform, President Barack Obama should do it by himself....
... “We have a broken immigration system that needs to be fixed. And I think
that unless the House proves that it wants to do something in the next
couple of weeks of our lame duck, that the president is well within his
authority, but also, ought to act.”...
We note that no "authority" for President Pissypants' action is cited. That's because there IS no "authority" for anarchy in the Constitution.
Thanks, Mitt! Thanks, Tommy!! And Thanks!! to the (R) Establishment!!!!
I wonder how much of that is Romney's doing and how much of that is a 14-year-old payback for what Thompson did to the first Mark Neumann Senatorial campaign. I rather suspect it's more of the latter.
ReplyDeleteGranted it was some 'payback.'
ReplyDeleteBut I think the co-incidence: Romney, a milquetoast, and TT, waaayyyyy past his stale-date, simply gave too many people the excuse.
There was no 'there' there on the (R) side.
Ultimately, they're the same thing.
ReplyDeleteThose who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it, and not at all coincidentally, history isn't exactly taught anymore.
The state of the nation is going to suffer considerably more decay before the country as a whole will embrace conservatism. The lack of "there" there rests with a general population that while it might lean a bit right from time to time is increasingly averse to the concepts of strong morality and personal responsibility. Conservatism sounds painful to these folks. They don't want to hear painful truth and harsh reality when outright lies and nebulous concepts like hope and change help them rationalize their own diminishing existence. The left points fingers and offers up SOMEBODY to blame.
ReplyDeleteThe right has chosen to win elections by default rather than speak the words the general populace simply doesn't want to hear. Sadly, deception by omission is what it takes in today's America. We're dying by increasing degrees of ignorance and indifference. Conservatives want to be heard by a significant percentage of the population that simply doesn't want to hear what we have to say. Doesn't mean we're wrong, just that too many fools have not yet suffered enough to willingly embrace the truth. I've come to believe that they actually want to be lied to. Sad, eh?
