Stevie Wonder Quits Touring

Apparently S. Wonder will not play in states which have stand-your-ground laws.

He'll save a lot on airfare:

"Many states have some form of stand-your-ground law. Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming."  --quoted at Vox

Since "Dancing on the Ceiling", what has he done, anyway?

  2. Long, long before ALEC invented what's now called "Stand Your Ground" and various other names in a number of states (which you listed), Louisiana had "The Castle Doctrine" - your home is your castle - and you were on the right side of the law if you fired a shot at or killed someone you believed was invading your home. When I lived in N'Awlins in the 80's, a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputy who lived a few doors down from me said the Castle Doctrine, as it was interpreted, also extended to your automobile, and you were allowed to carry a firearm in the glove box of your car in case you needed to defend your car - which was considered an extension of your castle.

Anyway, the point of this long rant is that Stevie should have been avoiding the many states that have laws similar to the Castle Doctrine for decades.

  3. Are you trying to tell us that you don't approve of the Castle Doctrine?

  4. If Morrissey doesn't approve of Castle Doctrine, does this mean you can rob a donut shop and he wouldn't fight back?

  5. Christ endorsed the first Castle Doctrine during the Sermon on the Mount.

Wonder's harmonica playing always sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard anyways...kind of what we all know Annie's liberal whine certainly sounds like.

Wonder is a good (not great) songwriter, an OK keys man, and an above mediocre singer. However, his very early MoTown stuff was much different...he stunk when he started, especially his voice.

Albums like 'Songs In The Key Of Life' and songs like 'Ribbon In The Sky' showed grand musical improvement and maturity over the years.

However, this guy was part of the grand hypocritical "We Are The World" cotillion...demanding limos and top of the line fine food spreads during the recording of the "charitable" "We Are The World".

Black hypocrites? Geez, that's a surprise...
