The Pubbies in the House passed a measure which would obviate lightbulb police. It's going nowhere, of course. But the reaction from NEMA, the electrical-manufacturers' trade group (read: GE), is interesting.
“Some in Congress are willing to put U.S. jobs at risk for political positioning,” said Joseph Higbee, a spokesman for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, a Rosslyn, Virginia-based group. “This is an example of a few politicizing light bulbs at the risk of American workers and the economy.”
Actually, dumbass, GE already dumped a bunch of US workers down the porcelain tubes in Winchester, VA (and in St Louis, MO.) Further, the "politicizing" has been going on for quite a while, led by Big Green, GE, and Phillips Lighting. Those jackasses happen to be putting at risk our CHILLLLLRRRUN who are exposed to mercury poison when/if a bulb breaks near them.
Shove your foofoodust where the sun doesn't shine, NEMA.
