You may or may not love them, but you sure PAY them well.
Wisconsin taxpayers still pay significantly more to provide health insurance to state employees than taxpayers in surrounding states, even after increasing the employee premium contribution and making plan changes to reduce costs. Wisconsin taxpayers also continue to pay significantly more than most private‐sector employers in the greater Milwaukee area.

Wisconsin employees enjoy (literally) a no-deductible, $1,000 (family)/$500.00 (single) stop-loss plan, for which they contribute $972 (single) and $2412 (family) premium per year.

The state should consider outsourcing these positions to private companies and eliminate the positions all together. Then the state employees could go out and be rehired by said companies at lower rates and much lower benefits....

indeed " servants". They have long forgoten the concept of civil....
That would lower the costs.
