The Dismal ObozoConomy

That is a chart of the labor-force participation.  The chart tracks the % of working-age Americans who are actually employed; it does NOT count retirees, so it is controlled for demographics.

That stimulus really, really worked, no?

Today Gallup reports that mid-February unemployment was 9%, up from the 8.3% of January....

  1. The U6 for Jan, adjusted, was 15.1.

  2. The percentage of those who want to work, but aren't, as a percentage of the potential workforce, was 12.9% in January (seasonally-adjusted; I did not calculate the unadjusted).

That was higher than any pre-Obama measurement of that metric (i.e., between 1994 and 2009).

  3. It is noteworthy that NeoCompassionateConservatives are finally talking about the numbers of no-longer-counted unemployed. When these folks were brought up five years ago (as the last president claimed lower UE numbers by omitting them) it was dismissed by apologists as mute. You've come a long way, baby.

Typical of today's conservatives: slow to catch up with the conversation, and showing little conservation of those nutty ideas that derail your dreamy aspirations of retaking the White House.

Are you en route to Arizona to support your embattled (R) sheriff in his race for a House seat?

  5. Dad, may I suggest that you not allow Anonymous posts anymore?

I know we all use monikers, but the anonys have really gone off the ledge lately. And if they can't even create a google account....
