Democrat Senate: "To Hell With Disaster Victims!!"

That's the message of Reid and the rest of his cabal.

  1. No it's not. It is the Republicans who insist on a bill that they know the Senate won't pass. It is they who are saying "To hell with the disaster victims."

  2. No Jim, the Republicans boosted the funds for disaster relief at the request of FEMA. That money has to come from somewhere so they cut some funds from a program that has no impact on Americans at all.

Reid has a choice, take it or leave it. If he wants to shut down the federal government to protect his green wienie campaign contributors then so be it.

  3. "Reid has a choice, take it or leave it."

And that demonstrates why Republicans refuse to govern and their supporters are perfectly fine with that.

  4. The house provides legislation that touches the purse Jim. Reid did not submit a plan, he did not provide a counter bill and he did not ask that the money come from another area. He demanded the extra money not be paid for. That is NOT asking for a compromise.

He also shut down the Senate and left Thursday so that the house could not be available to work on a compromise bill.

Since he is not there to compromise and has not submitted a compromise then he get s what he gets.

Governing means getting the job done now and doing it the right way. I would not be "governing" my home if I was 14 trillion in debt and refused to cut a single frickin penny for anything EVER. That is not governing. That is left wing claptrack BS.

One year and we will not have to worry about it though.

  5. The Reps funded FEMA with money from the Solyndra slush fund.

And Jim is defending Reid for saying that it is better to shut down the gov't than to do that?

    wow....

  6. For the last 200 years:
Step 1: House creates bill that Senate does not like
Step 2: Senate changes Bill until it passes
Step 3: Bill goes to conference committee to work out compromise
Step4: Both houses vote on Bill

    Now:
Step 1: House creates bill that Senate does not like
Step 2: Reid shuts down the Senate and goes to fundraiser

  7. Step 2: Senate actually votes on Friday night to kill the bill. Reid decides to negotiate over the weekend and Monday to try to get a deal that will fund FEMA as needed and find savings someplace besides a project the Republicans know Democrats don't want to cut.

Step 3: Republicans misrepresent the legislation process in order to keep anything that will benefit the American people from happening. Republicans want to create the perception that government is evil and ineffective so that Americans will be more accepting of the Republicans' desire to make government inconsequential.

  8. Jim - please explain how continuing to waste billions on the failed give-away to "green" companies that were big Obama supporters benefits the American people exactly?

  9. Fascinating choice of words Jim...."find savings someplace besides a project the Republicans know Democrats don't want to cut".

At least you inadvertently admit that the Democrats in the Senate do not want to compromise. Their way or the highway huh?

  10. "At least you inadvertently admit that the Democrats in the Senate do not want to compromise."

Not at all. A compromise is not, "we'll do something good for America, but you have to give up what we tell you to give up instead of offering alternatives. The only way America wins is if you lose."

The Republican model shows their disdain for Americans and the legislative process. They consider positive legislative results as a win for the Democrats, and that is unacceptable because their strategy is to make people hate government.

  11. Ah, Jim--you, too, worship the Green Goddess and want us to suck the Green Weenie!

We do not accept that any old "green" is "good for America." That's like saying that "any regulation" is 'good'.

Franklin was the most sagacious 'greenie' in the country: "Waste not, want not."

All the rest is expensive, and sometimes downright stupid, afterthoughts.

  12. The Democrats want the hybrid car research. What are the Republicans offering? "We'll help Americans"?

Compromise and find something else that both parties can agree on. That's legislation.

And in the interest of full disclosure, yes, my family has two hybrid automobiles.

  13. The Feds have no business in anything outside of basic research (and defense research).

JCI gets a write-off for R&D; then they get to make a profit on their findings.

    That's called 'the market.'

    Your opinion. I disagree.
