Government Motors: Emulating Its Master

This is perfect.

General Motors Co (GM.N) is seeking to dismiss a lawsuit over a suspension problem on more than 400,000 Chevrolet Impalas from the 2007 and 2008 model years, saying it should not be responsible for repairs because the flaw predated its bankruptcy.

In its motion, GM also cited 1) the Japanese earthquake, 2) dust storms in Arizona, and 3) the Joplin tornado.  Further, GM sought to blame the TEA Party and a Republican majority in only 1/3 of the Government for its inability to perform under warranty.   Lastly, it mentioned the Ryan "Road Map" which GM claims led it down the wrong path.

  1. Actually emulating every company that ever went through bankruptcy:

John Penn, a former president of the American Bankruptcy Institute who is not involved in the case, said the question of "successor liability" is common for manufacturing companies that go through bankruptcy.

"The fact it comes up now is not a surprise, as this type of issue was widely discussed during GM's bankruptcy," said Penn.

  2. It was also discussed by President Disaster. He guaranteed that warranties would be 'backed up' by the Gummint.

  3. That was supposed to have been one of the advantages of having the government bail them out....

    Nice.

But as we have seen with everything about Obama. Every promise has an expiration date.

  4. GM doesn't have ex-customers. They have a solid base of ANTI-customers. Folks with a sustained and justified animosity against them.
