Michael Burke Has a Big Problem

The president of MATC has a big problem.

He'd really, really, really like it if YOU took care of it for him.

Burke's problem results from crappy governance of MATC. Crappy governance results from appointed Board members who are absolutely, positively, NOT interested in tax impact.

Milwaukee Area Technical College president Michael Burke deplored an anticipated 30 percent cut in state aid as part of Gov. Scott Walker's proposed state budget, telling a business group it comes at a time when enrollment has increased 16 percent and community interest is high in the tech school programs.

Burke, who took the helm of MATC in January 2010, told about 180 people at the Milwaukee Rotary Club luncheon on Tuesday that the cuts would slash an estimated $7.5 million from MATC,...

MATC's payroll is a joke. Burke tells us that MATC had more students last year than did Ohio State University. He failed to mention that his teaching staff MAKES more than PhD's at OSU, too.

Even their HR secretary earns more than $60K....

  3. That's called the free market there, Saint Revolution. The folks at MATC there earn and deserve every penny. There is a demand for their services and they are paid accordingly.

    TO: Anonymous 5/04/2011 10:42 AM horse's ass:

What the f*ck are you writing about, free market?!

Are you truly this stupid and this ignorant?!

    ...or simply this lazy?!

Do your research and homework, asshole.

MATC is funded by property taxes FORCED upon homeowner taxpayers with little to no say in tax increases.

MATC salaries/benefits are set by an appointed BOARD, not by the free market!

The appointees on this board meet behind closed doors with union representatives (conflict of interest) BUT NOT ONE REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE TAXED COMMUNITY.

It is taxation without representation! Literally.

The whole vertical structure is literally the antithesis of the free market system.

It is forced economic standards way beyond what supply and demand would otherwise dictate.

MATC is the highest paid technical school district IN THE USA!

And you are one ignorant asshole!

Don't post until you know what you're writing about.

You 100 IQ'ers really should let us grownups run the world and you should just go play on the freeway somewheres...

You truly are the definition of an completely ignorant asshole who hasn't a clue what he is writing about.

Just fade away, you useless useless man....

Gad, it is amazing people are ACTUALLY that stupid!

Hurry now...the other kids are waiting for you to play CandyLand with them... hurry now...

  6. "MATC is funded by property taxes FORCED upon homeowner taxpayers with little to no say in tax increases."

FORCED? Not quite. It's "grudgingly accept".

"MATC salaries/benefits are set by an appointed BOARD, not by the free market!"

And the Board must COMPETE with the private sector to fill its workforce by offering INCENTIVES. There is a DEMAND for well-qualified applicants to meet the needs of its students, i.e. CONSUMERS.

"The appointees on this board meet behind closed doors with union representatives (conflict of interest) BUT NOT ONE REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE TAXED COMMUNITY."

The appointees are beholden to the person who put them in that position, who in turn is beholden to the taxpayers. There is accountability.

"MATC is the highest paid technical school district IN THE USA!"

Yep, and what are the results? Highly competent graduates who are hired by the private sector because of their training and knowledge base. You get what you pay for.

"Don't post until you know what you're writing about."

What, trying to persuade me from not exercising my First Amendment right? Good luck on that one, pal!

"You 100 IQ'ers really should let us grownups run the world and you should just go play on the freeway somewheres..."

Why don't you just murder us allegedly dumb people and get it done with?

I don't think Saints use profanity by the way. God would be most displeased.

  7. The appointees are beholden to the person who put them in that position, who in turn is beholden to the taxpayers. There is accountability.

    BS.

    It is taxation without representation.

As to your claims that the pay-scales are 'market', another BS.

In the last two years or so, 'market value' changed, downward, for most white- and blue-collar occupations.

Did the MATC contracts change accordingly?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ahem, wasn't it MATC (among others in the Education business) that rushed through a union contract recently to avoid the new law?

    Cry me a river, guys!

  9. "In the last two years or so, 'market value' changed, downward, for most white- and blue-collar occupations."

Any sources to back up this assertion, Dad29?

Regardless, some sectors of the economy maintain or increase their 'market value'.

Your refutations (and your overall bloggings) are pathetic.

I have provided complete empirical background data sources within THESE responses to back up TRUTH.

You, on the other hand, provide no source nor empirical data to substantiate any of your false loose-scatterbrain ramblings.

Your "devil's advocate for the sake of devil's advocacy" retorts are useless at best and pure logical lunacy at worst.

You need to do your homework before you spew your liberal crap.

    Another thing...

How the hell do you know WHAT displeases God?!
I didn't know you were such a confidant to The Almighty.

How the hell do you know what any Saint said at any time?
Am I really communicating with someone who literally walked and talked with The Saints?!

Saint Paul murdered thousands of Christians.
Saint Augustine f*cked dozens of women.
    Peter denied Jesus.
    Multiple Popes sold indulgences.
    Etc.
    Etc.
    Etc.

Again, another wrong erroneous false-oid unverified rambling rant false fact from a lazy liberal buffoon who loves to type but hates to or cannot read nor research.

So...f*ck you. How about THAT for TRUTH to the devil's own...

Believe you me...your thieving MATC'ers have a hell of a lot to answer for when they face the Big One...

That's OK...left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot...you can do it...that's right...that's how we walk, Billy...left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot...

Tomorrow we'll show you how to stop sucking your thumb...especially after you've taken it out of your ass...

Fade away, man...you just ain't worth the time...you just ain't worth it.

  11. "I have provided complete empirical background data sources within THESE responses to back up TRUTH."

Correction...YOUR version of what you THINK is the TRUTH.

"Saint Paul murdered thousands of "Christians.

Saint Augustine f*cked dozens of women.

    Peter denied Jesus.

    Multiple Popes sold indulgences."

So are you implying that the RCC erred in bestowing them with this honor? I thought Saints were perfect. I thought Christians should revel in their glory.

"How the hell do you know WHAT displeases God?! I didn't know you were such a confidant to The Almighty."

It's called the Bible. Read it sometime.

    "So...f*ck you."

TRUE Christians do not purposely use such vile language directed against their fellow humans out of hatred and spite. That's what my priest said. He would recommend confession and working toward changing your behavior to reflect the ways of Jesus.

"Again, another wrong erroneous false-oid unverified rambling rant false fact from a lazy liberal buffoon who loves to type but hates to or cannot read nor research."

Speaking of rants, that statement is the tops! FYI--I'm not a liberal, but if it makes you feel better thinking that way, go ahead.

    "...FYI--I'm not a liberal..."

    You keep telling yourself that.

No one else is convinced...or cares.

    Over and out, libby.

  13. The only "proof" you have that I am liberal is that I am challenging your assertions. Ergo, I must not be "your own kind".

    Flawed logic, indeed.

God says go to church and ask for forgiveness. It is His way, lest you be forever damned. He will judge. Your words are here for all to see, including our Savior.
