High-Lead Goose?
In case anyone in the Wisconsin DNR brings it up, the definitive slapdown of the "leaded goose and venison" crapola is here.
You really should have avoided mentioning the goose in your title, as even the "definitive" source to which you refer admits waterfowl are, indeed, affected by the lead.
Lead shot wouldn't bother me at all if it were only the shooters that were eating the kill. That's their prerogative. It's their unsuspecting families, and more to the point, those who eat fish and game from the water under which they scatter their shot. They don't have a choice in the matter.
That really is about the least definitive definitive source I've seen in some time.
There are plenty more sources--and NONE of them are able to find a connex between lead shot, lead bullets, and lead ingestion through eating fish, fowl, or fauna.
That's simply not true! How about this one covering venison: http://bit.ly/lead-in-venison. Or this one concerning game birds: http://bit.ly/lead-in-eiders. And this one, http://bit.ly/lead-in-game , has a nice literature review citing several more starting at page 28.
Dad,
ReplyDeleteso if I keep my old ammo dry, how long will it last?
Have a GREAT night.
