Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a member of the House Budget Committee, said there would be no “immediate” reduction of gas prices from more drilling.
“We need to be reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and, in general, specifically, we need to reduce our dependence on oil, foreign oil. But adding to our dependence on fossil fuels is not the answer,” she said.
“We need to be taking a long-term view,” she said. “It’s been proven over and over again that there would no immediate return on a reduction in gas prices or a significant expansion of our energy resources by beginning drilling for more oil right now -- and that to me is not the real responsible way to explore creating jobs.”
"Oh, no!" says the LeftOWackie. "She talked about the future!! You're wrong!!"
In 30 or 40 years, if the LeftOWackies prevail, your children and grandchildren will still be dependent on Arabs, Russkis, and Venezuelans for energy. The Democrats? They'll still be pitching Pixie Dust and Candy.
Let's make sure that they do not prevail. Let's do the prudent thing: drill here, drill now. Use our coal resources. Continue developing nuclear energy sources.
And let's bury the LeftOWackies with the memory of FDR.
And wind and solar can never be relied on for base-load needs on the grid. The wind (or, as the weatherpersons say, "winds") doesn't always blow, and clouds have been known to obscure the sun, sometimes for days! Imagine! (And please don't let out the secret that solar power relies on RADIATION.)
