They Ran Away, but Didn't Hide Under the Bed

Cockroaches scatter.

Democratic State Senators who protested the budget repair bill by leaving the state have been found. The lawmakers are in the Best Western Clock Tower Resort in Rockford Illinois

..."We're not in Wisconsin right now," Erpenbach said. "The reason why we're doing this is because there are some jurisdictional issues that we'd be dealing with."

Yah. Like arrest and a frog-walk back into the Senate chamber.

This line is priceless:

"For those looking for us, we are right here, standing with the people of Wisconsin." --Chris Larson

That is to say, those people of Wisconsin who are hiding from the cops in Illinois. (IIRC, that used to be the other way around: Capone had hideouts in Brookfield and Up Nort'.)

This episode simply enhances the Kumbayah-child-syndrome mental disease which was on display in the Capitol building last night.

The adults are in charge and the chilluns don't like it.

GREAT move by Democrats, the "true" adults in this situation. As if YOU and the rest of your cabal wouldn't be singing the praises had Republicans made this gambit.

  2. The Republicans need 20 present to vote on fiscal bills, but not other legislation. I say they should take advantage of this time to introduce and pass other legislation.

They could start by passing legislation that makes sick-outs punishable with permanent license revocation. Then maybe eliminate ethanol mandates. Maybe follow up with some expanded hunting legislation, concealed carry and how about expanding charter school and virtual school enrollments.

  5. David, what you are advocating is political suicide for Republicans, and is COMPLETELY UN-AMERICAN.

Seriously, if the shoe was on the other foot, and a Democrat made that proposal, you would be going bonkers. So...please...stop...now.

Thanks, St. Revo, for the compliment!

  6. Let me clarify. Just because the "rules" say it is "ok" to pass laws without people being there doesn't make it RIGHT!

  7. It would not be suicide. If the Senate schedules a legislative hearing and the democrats don't show up too damn bad. You people are really misjudging the temper of the Wisconsin populace right now.

As to what is right, our kids can't go to school because a bunch of whiny, ignorant, overpaid, self righteous union thugs think they should not have to face a small part of what the real world faces every day. Is that right? Is teaching kids that breaking the law right? Is teaching kids that faking sickness right? Is making hourly wage earning single mom's lose a days pay right?

    It's called civil disobedience, David.

"If the Senate schedules a legislative hearing and the democrats don't show up too damn bad."

    That's called dictatorship, David.

You would blow a gasket if Democrats pulled that move. You know it, and I know it.
