This New Jersey thing--it ain't just the teachers anymore.
...the fight erupted in May when Christie exercised his (admittedly seldom-used) prerogative to not re-appoint the liberal John E. Wallace to the New Jersey State Supreme Court. As we have seen all too often at both the State and Federal level, liberals view the judiciary as a useful tool to undo anything they don’t like which is done by the legislature or, in this case, the governor.
Therefore, Christie’s (absolutely legal) attempts to change the composition of the court were seen as a direct threat to their most sacred institution....

Then don't complain if the situation is reversed (e.g. liberal governor replacing a conservative judge) in another state. The precedent has been set.
ReplyDeleteUmnnnhhh....
ReplyDeleteI fully expect someone like Doylet to appoint someone like Abraham.
However, the linked article provides information which tends to demonstrate that the NJ (D) Party is corruptly acting--in concert with the NJ judiciary--to "fix" the Court.
Kinda like FDR, you know.
Correction: Doylet would appoint an AbramanSON.
ReplyDeleteFDR was repudiated for attempting to pack the court, and rightly so.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think Christie is trying to do??? Oh, wait, there's no such thing as judicial activism by the right. I forgot.
Anon - if Christie is doing something legal, why the complaint? If New Jersey residents don't like the law, they can always ask their legislators to change it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not complaining, just clarifying. If that what Christie is able to do under the law, great. Just don't cry foul (not you, per se) if the tables are turned.
