The Suddenly Silent MSM: B-16's OTHER Remarks

So B-16 opines that male prostitutes could use rubbers to prevent the spread of AIDS.

And the MSM goes wild. Google "Benedict XVI Condoms" and you get 1.66 million references.

Google "Benedict XVI Homosexual Priests" and you get 1 million less.

Here's why:

"Homosexuality is incompatible with the priestly vocation. Otherwise, celibacy itself would lose its meaning as a renunciation. It would be extremely dangerous if celibacy became a sort of pretext for bringing people into the priesthood who don't want to get married anyway," the pope said.

The pope cited a 2005 Vatican document that drew a sharp line against priestly ordination of homosexuals. He said the document emphasized that homosexual candidates cannot become priests because their sexual orientation interferes with "the proper sense of paternity" that belongs to the priesthood.

The sounds of silence from Tommy Reese and Tricky Dick McBrien, inter alia.

  1. Good catch Dad!

I've no doubt there are many more things in the new book that are worthy of attention and I eagerly await my copy. Unfortunately, much of the good that is in the book has been overshadowed by the whole condom controversy.

However, on the positive side, if it leads many more people to actually read the whole book, much good may come of it!

Assumes that homosexuals don't want to get married, which is not supported by the evidence.

Assumes that homosexuals cannot have a sense of paternity. Why would a homosexual have less of a "proper sense of paternity" than an asexual man, who has never married, has no intention of being married and no intention of ever being a father i.e. being "paternal"?

  3. asexual man

Except that I've never know a man who became a priest who was "asexual"...all of them, at some point, dated or were in relationships. The implication that all priests grow up absolutely celibate and pure and then join the priesthood never knowing what it's like to be in a relationship is laughable. They know, and they voluntarily choose to live their lives in accordance with the Church because it's their vocational calling.

Homosexuals, by nature, do not have a sense of paternity because -- despite being male -- they are sexually oriented towards relationships that are sterile. I'm assuming you don't need me to explain basic biology to you on that.

And if you look at the abuse crisis, you'll notice a very stark pattern: the vast majority of abusers were men attracted to adolescent/teenaged boys. It's not a coincidence.

Umnnnhhh...OK. Not married to GIRLS, Jim.

And you have peer-reviewed evidence that homosexuals WANT to "get married" to women?

    Cite.
