Charlie's having a lot of fun with Jeter's assertions about 'acting' in the Big Leagues.
A local team with a national ranking uses a home field which has a tree overhanging the sideline. Therefore, when a ball is kicked downfield, it (cough) MIGHT (cough) hit the tree.
Normal people assume that when the ball hits the tree, it is unplayable, or there should be a re-kick/re-start of the play in question.
But not the team using its 'home' field. If they're able to fast-talk the referee, they continue the game as though there WERE no tree obstruction, gaining a large advantage in field-position.
Cheating?
Well, if the referee says it's not, it's not, right?
Right./sarcasm
