Look at her work in the Clinton Administration on partial-birth abortion and the gun question. Offhand, I forget when/where she opined on 1A issues--IIRC it had to do with pamphlets.

And, you're right, popularity has nothing to do with it. OTOH, it is impossible that she is "representative of America."
