...In reality, they are writing and moving the bill forward behind closed doors in the Senate.
Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-CN, who caucuses with Senate Democrats, told Energy & Environment reporter Darren Samuelson that he and fellow co-sponsors John Kerry, D-MA, and Lindsay Graham, R-SC, will not introduce their bill via the normal Senate process, but will instead simply hand it over to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV.
"If we introduce it, it'll get referred to committees," Lieberman said, reported Samuelson. "We want him to be able to work with it and bring it out onto the floor as a leader whenever he's ready."
Conservatives will be interested in only two words from candidates this fall.
REPEAL IT.
Repeal ObamaCare. Repeal Cap-n-Tax.
Repeal Lindsey Graham.
ReplyDeleteOligarchy.
These guys are steaming pieces of suet. I can understand why some are positing that Obama and the Dems are out to destroy America as we know it. With the spending binge they're on, we'll go from bananna republic to 4th world pretty fast.
ReplyDeleteIt's gonna be a long time til 2016. It sucks when you don't always get your way, eh duh29?
ReplyDeleteThis procedure allowing the Senate Majority leader to introduce the bill and bypass the commmittees apparently has been done before by BOTH political parties.
ReplyDeleteThe bill will eventually be introduced to the entire Senate, where it will be debated and amended if changed, and voted on.
Is the bill going to be voted on in the Senate? Yes.
Will Senators voice their positions in favor or against the bill? Yes.
Can the contents of the bill be changed? Yes.
Is the bill being written without the input of Republicans? Yes, I'll concede that point (see how easy it is to be honest and admit things, Dad29).
But "behind closed doors", ha! I think you mean when Cheney and his boyzzz dictated energy policy without input that benefitted his cronies.
Man, you've got so much on your plate at confession, your priest will be there for hours!
Anony 12:13pm. 2016, huh? You must be really drunk on the Kool Aid. Apparently, you haven't been paying attention.
ReplyDeleteNah, 2016 is how long it will take for these competing tea parties to coalesce. Now that the GOP is splintered the energy is unfocused and there are too many competing messages. Won't be long until the Draft Dick Armey campaign gets some momentum behind it.
