Radio ad for TMJ4 Weather includes the following:
"...weather can turn Wisconsin roads into a parking lot."
Really?
ALL the 'Wisconsin roads'--all at once--become "a parking lot"?
Or should the nominative plurals agree, e.g., '....roads into parking lotS'?
I can tell you didn't have Sr. Mary Rosarybeads for elementary-school grammar.
Nominative plurals.....nominative plurals....my Lord, Dad, do you think the TMJster who wrote that crap (and the announcer who read it) have any concept of what a nominative plural is?
ReplyDeleteTo think that people who make their living writing and/or speaking would understand how English is structured is a leap of faith not even the most devout Catholic should make.
