Don't Do This, Reps. Kind, Obey, Moore, Baldwin, Kagen!

Obama, lecturing and whining to push ObamaCare V3.0:

I have therefore asked leaders in both of Houses of Congress to finish their work and schedule a vote in the next few weeks. From now until then, I will do everything in my power to make the case for reform. And I urge every American who wants this reform to make their voice heard as well – every family, every business owner, every patient, every doctor, every nurse.

He wants it Rahm-a-Jamma'd through before Congress takes their Easter break--IOW, before they get back to their districts, where the public will tar and feather them.

Congressmen, of course, can vote any way they want.

But defying the expressed sentiment (~70/30 AGAINST) of the population will have consequences which are unpleasant and unpredictable. Inter alia, when Congress is no longer representative of the will of the people, what binds the people to obey other Congressional legislation? Pick a law, any law (or bunch of them).

This "representative" stuff is a two-way street.

It's not just re-election. It's good faith.

And once you've broken faith, you may expect the favor will be returned.

UPDATE:

From the McCain combox on the same question:

“As much as we enjoy flogging these GOP weenies, they really are the last thing between the country and abyss.” [Quoting the original post]

No they aren’t. We are. If elections fail, if Congress is so corrupt they ram unconstitutional bills down our throats well it’s time we threw it up on them.

We are the last thing. [Signed USMC]

Some folks are serious about this.

  1. They....don't...care. This is about power and agenda. I guarantee Moore, Obey, Baldwin and kind will vote for higher taxes for lousy, government-run healthcare.

  2. They are going to ram it through because they ideologically believe in it, d-mn the consequences. They believe the government is like a parent and we the unruly children.
