From HuffPo, of all places.
...she knew that they would be visible when she gave the speech. And she knew that she would be made fun of -- as so stupid that she needs to write notes on her hand. And that's one of her most effective tactics -- to be made fun of. It's an integral part of her strategy of standing in for hardworking, Middle Americans, derided by the condescending, know-it-all liberal elites.
So what does the Obama administration do? Press Secretary Robert Gibbs had a great idea: he made fun of her.
...Sarah Palin is playing chess. I don't know what game the Administration is playing, but they just walked right into her carefully laid trap. Palin, the strategist, is amazing to watch. Her brilliance is her ability to tap in to the class conflicts that drive American politics these days. Obama, whom I have supported since Iowa, just doesn't get it.
Heh.
I guess Palin does not understand satire and she complains about telaprompters, but does this hand jive, what a hypocrite. I have not seen this since junior high. She is so perfect for “Fake News”, so much for being a private citizen. I guess Palin failed to watch President Obama answer questions at the GOP retreat in Baltimore, no teleprompters or crib notes on the hand. But I guess those facts would only blow her poor little Beauty Queen from smallville mind, who could not finish her highest office that she ever held, quit making excuses for her! WOW and some call her a leader…….please.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it say about the "movement" when leadership has too act like a complete dumby to connect with the majority of her listeners?
ReplyDeleteI know what it says to me: That this movement is more about appealing to the emotions of the "common folk" than actually providing any sort of reasonable, constructive solution to the issues we face.
While I don't always agree with Paul Ryan, I do appreciate the fact that he is coming up with real solutions to real long term problems this country must address soon. THIS is the guy Republicans should be running to. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand that Palin is incapable of offering any real constructive dialog or solutions to complicated issues. It's not a knock on her intelligence. It's just that Palin, like most Americans, simply does not have the capacity (or interest) to think critically on complex issues like the deficit, health care, social security, Iraq and Afghanistan. Given the times we live in, we don't need this kind of leadership on either side of the aisle.

ReplyDeleteFalse dichotomy. One does not exclude the other.
But you knew that, right?
I don't think so. I see a tar and feather campaign....nothing more. And misguided too.
ReplyDeleteDadster, you know more about this debacle than most people do. Are you honestly telling me that the people taking to the streets know a damn thing about what's happened in the last couple years?
They don't know jack S__t. They're looking for a target. Nothing more. And all because it's easy. It's fits the narrative.....and it's convienient.
I certainly can't speak for everyone in the TEA Party group.
ReplyDeleteBut there seems to be a couple of common factors: 1) too much Gummint (State and Fed) and 2) a vague discomfort with the Gummint/BigBiz nexus.
A whole lotta mutual ass-covering out there.
Under "too much Gummint" you can insert the logical corollary: too much spending.
