Obama in Hawaii: Shut Down the Island

Nice, unless you have a business in Oahu.

[Aero-News Network] is researching reports of a massive TFR [temporary flight restriction] that will severely restrict air traffic on the tiny island of Oahu… for nearly two weeks. A Presidential TFR has been published (and was disseminated as of December 19th… barely four days notice) covering most of the island and severely restricts all [general aviation] operations on or near the island.

...The TFR also states […] ominously, that "The following operations are not authorized within this TFR: flight training, practice instrument approaches, aerobatic flight, glider operations, parachute operations, ultralight, hang gliding, balloon operations, agriculture/crop dusting, animal population control flight operations, banner towing operations, sightseeing operations, model aircraft operations, model rocketry, and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Amphibious operations are prohibited within this TFR except at Honolulu International Airport (PHNL)."

Haverniceday!

  1. On the North Shore of Oahu lies Dillingham Field. At one end of the runway is a glider operation, at the other are 2 parachute businesses.

All 3 operations are heavily reliant on tourists to stay open.

I wonder if Obambi is going to reimburse these 3 small businesses for their lost revenue for these 2 tourist-heavy weeks.

    Nah! They aren't SEIU members.
