The Obama Administration has handled this issue absolutely perfect. This, of course, is difficult for neocons to understand because anything in our foreign policy that doesn't involve posturing, flexing, threatening and meddling is considered to be "weak".
The official position of the U.S. government should be to stand back and advocate the freedom of the Iranian people to demonstrate peacefuly. Shift the focus off the government and on to the people of Iran. Officailly taking sides can and WILL be used by the Iranian government to focus the blame on America.
P.S. All you have to do is listen to McCain's remarks yesterday to know that, if he were President, we would be doing the same tired, ineffective pile of crappola we've been doing in Iran for the last 3 decades that's led absolutely nowhere.
The Obama Administration has been right on point regarding this issue. Plain and simple. It only took us 30 years to reaize that we have little or no power to make real change in Iran. Iran needs to fix Iran. Our interference does nothing constructive.
