CDC: Maybe DON'T Close Schools

Now that the hysteria is over (except in the press....)

Federal health officials said Monday they were rethinking their advice that schools consider closing for as long as two weeks because of swine flu...

"We are looking at our school closure guidance," Besser said. "And we're having very active discussions about whether it's time to revise that."

Yah. First off, swine-flu now appears to be a typical flu, no more, no less. Secondly, if some kid who has it already showed up in the school, it's 'established' in the building--so a closing is fruitless. Que sera, sera; closing or not, no difference.

Rahm will have to find another crisis to use for the next step in totalitarianism.

  1. Here's another reason it makes no sense to close schools: Parents turn around and put the kids in day care! Heard on the news the other day that companies were opening on-site day cares for parents whose children's schools had been closed.

Does this make any sense? Now you've got kids who were already exposed in school potentially spreading the virus to a new set of kids in close quarters!

Closing the schools may have worked if the kids would actually be semi-quarantined at home, but these days? Not so much.

And yes, I agree with you about Rahm E. and his "crises". They'll have to fan the flames of another one.
