Doyle: "I'll Continue Spending"

Here's the key line from Doyle's yappaflappa about the State budget problem.

He said all agencies are going to have to tighten their belts.

"The new increase is a flat line," he said

A "flat line."

We are not impressed, Diamond Jim. Maintaining your bloated spending pattern while revenues cliff-dive is NOT the answer.

--Cut back school aids to 60% from 65%+; tell the UW system to close 2 campuses and lay off the faculties/staff.

--Cut aids to municipalities by similar percentages and let the municipals figure out what to do.

--Cut back BadgerCare to what it was supposed to be in the first place.

--And remove "sum sufficient" language from Executive and Legislative budget authority. Tote up last year's spending and reduce it by 10%.

--Stop, right NOW, buying land for "State preserves." Start selling it instead. The State already owns 16% of the land in Wisconsin and the State does not need it, period.

Just a few thoughts...

  1. I fully expect to see an increase in income taxes at the state level.

This, of course, in addition to the income tax increase we will see at the federal level in 2010.

    Wonderful.

  2. Mr. Doyle doesn't have to cut anything. He can raise taxes and still get reelected. And he knows it. Thank you clueless voters.
