Charles Gibson: Supercilious Half-Glassed Quizmaster

And the guy who (doesn't quite) call him that is the guy who INVENTED the term "Bush Doctrine." That would be Krauthammer.

There is no single meaning of the Bush Doctrine. In fact, there have been four distinct meanings, each one succeeding another over the eight years of this administration -- and the one Charlie Gibson cited is not the one in common usage today. It is utterly different.

...I know something about the subject because, as the Wikipedia entry on the Bush Doctrine notes, I was the first to use the term.

(Hint to Charles Gibson: your definition is one release behind the current one--which happens to be the one Palin identified.)

...was superseded by the fourth and current definition of the Bush doctrine, the most sweeping formulation of the Bush approach to foreign policy and the one that most clearly and distinctively defines the Bush years: the idea that the fundamental mission of American foreign policy is to spread democracy throughout the world

Palin's response was erroneous, although she came closer with her "worldview..." formulation than did Chuck-E-Chees-E, the half-glassed quizmaster.

  1. Dad,Charles Gibletts whole premise was to "gotcha" Palin. She wouldn't play. A quick tour of lib blogs finds the children a wee bit upset at Palin's deft handling of Chuck Giblett.
Clearly Chuck wasn't prepared for Mrs. Palin's resolve. I guess he "misunderestimated" her.
The left is/are not able to see themselves as the drowning rats that they are. They crow as front runners, but once again find themselves in Dire Straits. And they are clueless how to turn this around.

  2. Didn't he do a great job?

All right, noodling aside, is mickey's (er, gus) IQ really less than Neandertal? I like how he makes fun of Shrub while trying to do the nasty on the Dems.

Keep it up gus (er, mickey) you do conservatism proud.

  3. Does being a conservative mean that we have to defend Bush now?

  4. Anony--the post does not defend GWB's position, which is almost indefensible altogether.

But it does point out the fact that Gibson didn't know what he was pontificating about and that Palin at least had a glimmer.
