  3. 3rd way, what are you smoking?

But this is a blow for democracy and the right of the voters to have a say via the ballot box. And religious freedom.

What a glimpse of our future? Look to the north, where holding to fundamental, orthodox beliefs about homosexuality is punishable by prison time.

    Go, progress!

  4. I was joking Amy.

I am looking north and I don't see anyone being imprisoned for holding any beliefs.

How is this a blow to religious freedom?

  5. In New Mexico, a Christian photographer was sued by a lesbian couple after she declined to shoot their "commitment ceremony".

In New Jersey, a Methodist church lost its tax-exempt status on some property after declining to allow a same-sex commitment ceremony there.

In Massachusetts, Catholic Charities had to shut down its adoption service because gay activists and the MA government ruled they could not follow their religious beliefs regarding adoption.

In Canada, they passed C-250, which classifies speaking out against groups like homosexuals is punishable by two years in prison.

The First Amendment clearly says that the government (and that refers to any governing body) shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion.

Fines, "hate crimes legislation" and the like are laws that prohibit the free exercise of religion.

  6. The California Supreme Court did not just overturn the ban on same gay marriage, they created new law. Before this proposition was passed, there was no law allowing gay marriage and now, today, there is one. So, 5 Supreme court justices created a new law and over turned the will of the people. That is what is so damaging, wrong and disgusting.
Hey, if the gays want to have gay marriage in California, go through the legislative process, not judicial. This is what you get when you get stinking liberal judges.
Maybe with conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court, maybe they can make a law like instituting the death penalty or concealed carry. How would you liberals like that?

The California legislature passed full marriage rights. Twice. Those were vetoed by the Governator. Twice. Ahnold said he was vetoing the measures because he though the state's supreme court ought to rule, not the legislature.

Can you guys get your stories straight, please?

Also, 6 out of the 7 California SC justices (including 3 of the 4 on the majority in this case) were Republican appointees. Yeah, stupid liberals.

  9. Jay, I know if you are an English teacher and not social studies teacher. But a bill must pass both houses AND the governor. I don't care what the governor says.
So, you can't have liberal Republicans? Apparently you have not been reading lately that conservatives really don't like McCain. There are also many liberal politicians in the Republican party just as there conservative Democrats.
Nice pun about keeping our stories straight.
