Sure, He Lied. But He's the Governor!

You have to hand it to DarthDoyle--

Doyle introduced the Wisconsin Covenant in his state of the state address last year.

"As long as the student holds up his or her end of the bargain," Doyle said, "every family that qualifies for financial aid will get a package that fully covers their tuition" in the University of Wisconsin System.

But that was LAST year. This year's story is a little different:

"If they work hard and do their part in high school, we'll do our part to guarantee them a spot in higher education and a financial aid package to make it affordable,"

...The memorandum said the program would ensure that participants can afford tuition and fees, but neither the memorandum nor Doyle said anything further about fully covering the costs.

Darth has yet to reveal any details about the anticipated cost of the program. Regardless, a lot of Wisconsin 8th-grade kids are signing "Covenants" today.

  1. Uhhhh...are they signing covenants to go to college or covenants to hand over their entire salary to the state once they presumably get a job?
