Late last year, a number of prominent neo-cons were interviewed about the Iraq Adventure.
The names are familiar: Adelman, Cohen, Perle, Frum... all had been beating the drums for an invasion of Iraq for a number of years. Adelman was the one who mentioned "cakewalk."
All of them now state that 'while the war is a great idea, GWB just didn't manage it well.'
Doesn't that sound a bit like the line about 'how wonderful Communism is ...except that nobody has done it right just yet...' ?
A more serious criticism of the Adelman/Cohen/Perle (that's NeoCons, folks) crowd can be found in the writings of Bismarck:
"Preventive war is like committing suicide out of fear of death."
PJB, who has been regularly knifed in the back by the NeoCon crowd, is sympathetic to GWB, to an extent. A couple things are certain: GWB will leave office in two years.
And the NeoCons will be plotting the next Great War.
I think it more accurate to say they knife him from the front.
