HT to Random 10 for the lead to this very enjoyable writer.
Here LPMM vents a bit about the Democrat "Paygo" plan and the Pubbie grass-eaters:
But the Dems "PAYGO" (as it's known) does the same trick with tax and spending bills. It assumes all the spending we are doing now will NEVER decrease (God forbid anybody cuts spending) – even programs already going to sunset by law. But tax cuts are treated – wait for it! – differently. Tax cuts due to be sunsetted ARE accounted for, and the increase in taxes built into the budgeting assumption!
Heads I win, tails you lose. The Dems will holler that this isn't a tax increase, it's just sensible economic policy, it's all just some cosmic accident that it will raise taxes but not touch spending. The left, aided and abetted by a fawning media, will talk about how responsible and prudent this is, and how taxpayers should be pleased that their new overlords are so frugal.
Now as to the Pubbies:
Now, you'd think the GOP would put on their weasel stomping boots and have fun with these rules. You'd reason, if you have an IQ higher than that of a starfish, the GOP for the next week would talk 24/7 about how the Dems raised taxes as their very first act. It seems so bleeding obvious.
But your evolutionary path has raised you several phylum above the GOP. There is a reason we lost, and it's going to be illustrated this week. The GOP leadership, not believing the public is sharp enough to understand they are being screwed by the rules change, is not going to talk about it. They fear the mainstream media will slam them for being dishonest if they plainly say "THIS RAISES TAXES." So they are mumbling about the rule complicating things and making it more difficult. Since the impossible is more difficult than the possible, they're right. So why not come out and just friggin' SAY "The bottom line is, this raises taxes, this raises taxes, this raises taxes"?
Needless to say, LPMM will soon be a blogroll-addition. This is too good to pass up.
