The End of the World, Blah Blah, Blah--Except for the REAL Statistics

Channel 6 also did a variant of this horse-hockey last night.

British climate scientists predict a resurgent El NiƱo climate trend combined with higher levels of greenhouse gases could touch off a fresh round of ecological disasters - and make 2007 the world's hottest year on record.

The annual average temperature for the contiguous United States in 2006 is likely to be 2 degrees Fahrenheit above the mean temperature for the 20th century, scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration say. That would make 2006 the third-warmest year on record, after 1998 and 1934, the agency said.

(This follows the remarkable accuracy of Climatology Augurs in predicting The End of The American South due to hurricanes. That was last Fall, in case you missed it...)

".....the 20th Century..."

My, my. By definition there are 19 centuries that nobody seems to be worried about (not to mention the who-knows-how-many centuries BEFORE the birth of Jesus Christ.)

Not to worry. Action WILL be taken.

Wisconsin's environmental groups are expected to advance a climate change agenda with lawmakers in Madison this year, where the Senate control has moved to Democratic hands. The Doyle administration says it will address climate change and energy issues in 2007, as well.

....say, an additional 10 cents/gallon tax on gasoline. That should start the bidding, no?

Or maybe a $300.00 annual surcharge if you have either electricity OR natural gas in your home.

UPDATE: You'll find "Headless Blogger" in the combox. Visit the site--his chart proves that Channel 6, the Milwaukee JS, and assorted other ignorami are wrong, wrong, wrong.

Good work!!

  1. Get ready to have this stuff beaten into your head this year. The MJS has published three weather horror stories in the last two days.

Yesterday's report by Jesse Garza demonstrates why journalism majors should stay away from writing about science. The data posted with the article makes the case for LOCAL COOLING, not global warming. Garza and her editors were oblivious to what the data really says - anecdotal evidence is all that matters. Details at Headless Blogger.
