The Donkey Whose Tail is Taxes

Whether or not you like additional taxes, or whether or not you like "commuter rail," the REAL evil genius out there is (ta-da!!)

State Rep. Jeff Stone (R-Greendale), who sponsored the legislation creating the transit authority

This "authority" seeks to impose TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.

Someone should start a recall movement...

  1. Not exactly taxation without representation. The legislature is declaring exactly what the tax will be. My opinion, pay for it out of gas taxes.

  2. It's pure taxation without representation. You have a body consisting of unelected representatives levying taxes.

    How complicated is that?

  3. It is no different than the DMV.

  4. I will concede that this bunch is different from MMSD, whose commissioners are appointed and who actually DO levy taxes--

and different from MATC, (same as above.)

However, the Board here is not like DMV, either, which has as its head a figure serving at the pleasure of the Governor.

So it's more like DNR, whose Board recc's fees which are legislated.

Having said that, the Authority's board does NOT consist of members who are elected to the Authority Board.

    That is the objection.
