Is It Too Early to Thank John Kerry?

Some interesting radio-guy chatter over the last 24 hours...

Seems that Kerry's remarks about "stupid=soldier" have lit a friggin' bonfire under voters' ...ah...bums.

And the previously-less-eager Pubbie base is now virtually standing in line at the polling places, without hundreds of GOTV phone calls.

How the Hell does Karl Rove do it?

  1. I don't know how he does it, but once again Kerry has managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by opening his mouth.

Heck, I was fired up before Kerry opened his mouth. This just strengthened my resolve to go out and vote.

God, I hope he runs for the White House again in '08. That would be hilarious.

  2. I think this is a case of preaching to the choir. Empirically, we know that this had little to no effect. The dems are over 50 possible House convert districts at this point, many of the new ones being in the Plains. You know there is a word for those whose hope lies in the other guy screwing up? Don't get false hope.

  3. Well, schadenfreude is the past-tense of the word, I think.

Wouldn't have been so optimistic about it if I hadn't heard some of this from Savage, who absolutely DESPISES GWB and most Congressional Pubbies.

  4. I hope you bring this post to the top on Nov. 8th! I am sure you will want to show how smart you were...and Mr. Rove as well.

Or you may want to just delete it....

  5. Kerry was referring to Bush as stupid and stuck in Iraq, not the soldiers.

  6. Anony--I believe that Xoff published the speech's text which would substantiate your claim.

However, I ALSO believe that Mr. Kerry should have learned how to read during his time in expensive colleges.

  7. Thought this bit of info interesting in light of how you view the Kerry matter...

Wall to wall coverage of the non-story that was John Kerry's botched Iraq joke has done nothing to help the GOP or damage Dems, according to a new poll just out this morning from Newsweek. The poll finds that Dems lead the GOP in the generic Congressional matchup by 16 points, 54%-38%, a spread that's consistent with or larger than most recent polls.

  8. Maybe.

I don't know ANYONE who has voted for "Generic" on a ballot, either D or R.

Evidently the pollsters do know Mr. or Mrs. Generic.
