GWB's Pick As His Successor
Just found this blog (TomRoeser.com) today, proving that indeed, I may be a blind pig. Ironically, Roeser has family in the Milwaukee area, and I am acquainted with them...
I rather like Romney myself. However, I heard about a poll on some station in Austin back in July that people wouldn't vote for him because he's Mormon. Not sure what that has to do with anything, but hey, I didn't run the poll, so who knows. They said no one would ever elect a Catholic as president either. I seem to remember JFK was a Catholic. :)
Romney's a centrist Pubbie like GWB. Like Rudy and McPain, he will have a very hard time getting through the primaries as a result.
IIRC, Al Smith was the first RC to run for President in the history of the country. JFK made it because he explicitly stated that the tenets of his faith would have NOTHING to do with his policy.
As to Mormonism--I don't see that as a problem, but then I don't think that Romney will attempt to force polygamy down the US throat.
Why bother? We have serial polygamy now, and adultery is not regarded as a big deal.
Personally, I'd like to see him change the tax rate to a tithe, just like the Mormon religious requirement.

Romney flipped on being pro-Choice, just in time for the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteI don't like him, Brownback is hands down, the best Republican candidate.
Plus, he is a Mormon...
