Direct Action Lives!!

Congratulations to the civic-minded neighborhood hero who torched this place:

...firefighters from Engine 12, 1400 S. 9th St., answered a call about 12:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of S. 12th St. to fight a small fire at a home in the process of being condemned, department spokesman Lt. Brian O'Connor said.

The Channel 6 folks tell us that "the cause of the fire could not be determined."

That 'home in the process of being condemned' was (litererally) a flea-infested dump. City officials had removed a bazillion cats from the joint a few weeks ago. The City cannot explain how it takes so long to eliminate this menace...

While the City's "process" for "condemnation" went on, however, the fleas migrated to other homes in the neighborhood--and eventually to the Fire Station.

As to the "cause of the fire:" who cares? One only regrets that there was not enough accelerant to bring it down to the ground, WITH its occupying fleas.

Better luck next time.
