UW-System's Baloney

You've all read the story already--the UW System is going "diverse" by one method or the other.

This may have an effect on academically-qualified white folks:

McKellips [a UW spokestwit] was quoted as saying that “people have become accustomed to knowing that they’ll be accepted. That comfort is going to go away.”

Let's turn that phrase a bit:

Dad29 was quoted as saying that "UW has become accustomed to knowing they'll get all the tax money they want. That comfort is going away."

We could, for openers, eliminate the entire "diversity" office at UW System.

State support for the Madison campus is now down to less than 20 cents on the dollar. Get real -- the state has done a pathetic job of supporting the jewel in the UW System. It's disgraceful.

  2. One drop of blood.

My blue-eyed children are all Native American. My daughter gets annoyed by all the diversity events this gets her invited to at Madison.

  3. Tell you what, Anony: let's hire a really mean auditor and a really mean mangement consultant, and let's go out to MadCity, rip through all the UW books/budgets, and fix the joint.

Bet we could spring an easy $200 million towards student tuition-offsets without ONE additional penny in tax support.

  4. Hey, Daddio [that's 0 like in "zero"] - You don't even have to get in the car. All of the UW budget books are available online. You can review in the privacy of your own home.

Can't wait to find out what a "rocket scientist" like you could recommend!

  5. Nope, Anony.

Anybody who's been in business for three weeks (you should try it sometime) knows that on-site/in-person walking-around investigation is the best type.

THAT'S why I spec'd a junkyard-dog management consultant to pair up with the auditor. NOT to find "missing money;" that's way too easy.

They should find the missing functionalities. Actually, that should be easy, too.

  6. Yeah, Allen--but you, too, can move--to the East OR the West Coast, and enjoy all sorts of silly ideas which will NOT be enacted into law in Wisconsin.

By the way, your provincialism is almost humorous. One can get a very good education at several Southern universities--SMU, Duke, Tex A&M, Georgia Tech, U of Va., George Mason...

    Not a bad selection.

Hey, DaddiO -- How come you didn't list University of Mississippi or University of Alabama? With your mindless meat-axe approach, UW-Madison could be reassigned overnight to the same peer group as those two "fine" institutions!
