One thing about the Adelman contract bothers me more than anything else: what in the world is the MATTER with that woman, Georgia Thompson? If convicted on the charges, that's a serious question.
She's a civil servant, protected from firing. She's on the payroll (about $75K) of the State of Wisconsin. She's responsible for negotiating in good faith for the benefit of the State, the WHOLE State, and nothing BUT the State.
So where in blazes did she get the idea that the interests of the State and the interests of the Governor are congruent?
Worse: the woman was hired by a Republican ninny-excuse-for-a-Governor--which likely means that her malformed understanding of the Common Good had its genesis long before Doyle.
Even Worse Yet: how many OTHER State civil servants have the same disorder?
Interesting question Dad. I wondered the same thing, but from the opposite end and asked my state employee friend the following:
ReplyDelete"Don't procurement decisions get done at your level, by career civil servants not political hacks? And that being true, where did Adelman and these others get the idea that sending money to Jim Doyle's campaign would help with procurement (worst case) or show appreciation for getting the work? Even the lesser case is bad in my view since the contract is awarded by the STATE, not Doyle or his party."
He didn't provide an answer.
