...Indeed, let's call a spade a spade, shall we?<br /><br />It is a caricature of reality to say that fascism is a phenomenon of the left and that social democracy is equated with fascism. Its polemics structured around stereotypes, not scholarship.<br /><br />The confusion you suffer is you assume Right = less government, Left = more government, but that is only the 21st century definition. Mussolini himself described fascism as "of the right" (Doctrines of Fascism, 1932).<br /><br />Regardless, just like when liberals cry out "racist", you can expect conservatives to yell "fascist".
