….,. REPORT: Hundreds of U.S. Troops to Deploy to Latin America
The U.S. Army is reportedly moving hundreds of soldiers to Latin America, planning for them to train local troops and carry out raids and operations targeting terrorist drug cartels.
News of the deployment comes as Mexico remains one of the few countries unwilling to fully cooperate with Washington’s efforts to combat the cartels, with President Claudia Sheinbaum arguing that having U.S. troops in her country would violate its national sovereignty. America’s leaders would obviously feel the same way if a foreign military tried to roll across our border.
The reported deployment is part of the 19-nation Shield of the Americas campaign to fight drug cartels throughout the Western Hemisphere. We generally oppose sending U.S. troops to foreign lands, but at least this case pertains to an issue that actually has to do with our country. Tens of thousands of Americans die from drug overdoses each year……..
Once again, the question remains why isn’t Trump doing something about it.
