About "SNAP" and Marriage

Found on the internet:

My parents were really old when they had me—mid-40s. Old enough that they were teenagers during The Great Depression. They had so many insane stories about that time. Oatmeal for dinner. Kids sleeping 4 to a bed. My grandfather going out in the street at night looking for cigarette butts so he could pull out enough tobacco to roll his own cigarette. All the kids going to work in their late teens and giving all their money to my widowed grandmother so the entire family could survive. They were poor. One other theme that always echoed from those stories was that they “never went on relief.” (“Relief" was what they called government welfare programs back then.) They were so proud of that fact. It was shameful to go “on relief,” and they never did....

Notice that the grandparents were MARRIED?  To each other?

That, my friends, is the single biggest difference.

Will Tammy Vote FOR the Kids? Just Once?

Tammy Baldwin has been voting to starve the children and their moms and dads for 30++ days or so.

Think that Tammy will ever vote to FEED those children?

Nah.  Tammy doesn't care about the chilllrrren.

She cares about Tammy

Would $1.35 BN Help Food Stamp Problem?

Too bad the Biden regime is spending the $1.35 BILLION on................owls.

The Fish and Wildlife Service’s $1.35B barred owl extermination plan epitomizes bureaucratic insanity. Spending $3,000 per owl to artificially prop up a weaker species isn’t conservation—it’s ecological central planning. This DEI-for-owls madness mirrors Washington’s obsession with equalizing outcomes rather than respecting natural competition. While spotted owl populations dwindled under Biden’s failed “managed fire” policies that torched millions of acres, the solution isn’t taxpayer-funded avian affirmative action. Lawmakers rightly call this a fiscal and ethical disaster...

What?  You think Biden should have spent that money on "the poor"?

Biden Boyzzz Wear Out the Fifth

When their lips are moving, they lie like Democrats:  ALL THE TIME.

 https://x.com/GOPoversight/status/1983150335276249318

You won't be wasting spit if you happen to expectorate heartily on any of those cretins.

"B.oth S.ides" Violent? B. S., Indeed

Yes, that B.S. thing fits "Both Sides."

It turns out that if you count the Jan. 6 riots but not the Black Lives Matter riots, then the Right is infinitely more violent than the Left. If you don’t count racist black men mowing down a bunch of white people as a left-wing racist murder, but you do count a suicidal kid with President Donald Trump on his “hit list” killing two white strangers as a right-wing racist murder, then you can get results that appeal to the liberal media....

That's called "cooking the books" in real life.  It's also called "Democrat Methodology"--in other words, LYING.

Bloomberg makes a big deal out of "studies" conducted on the topic.  But those "studies" are so loaded with methodological flaws that they are useless--except to Lefty propagandists at Bloomberg and other "highly-trained professional" journalists.

How crappy are their "studies"?

...Levitz, posturing as something of a fact-checker, said ADL’s study showed “right-wingers committed the vast majority of political murders.” But the data he provided didn’t even try to make that claim.

If you read ADL’s methodology notes, the organization doesn’t claim to be tracking “political murders” as Levitz falsely claimed, but murders “by people associated with a variety of domestic extremist movements.”

That may sound like a thin distinction, but it really matters, especially on the ADL study. A “political murder” would be the assassination of Kirk. Murders “by people associated with a variety of domestic extremist movements” is a far larger category. If a KKK member murders his wife, that is a murder by a person associated with a domestic extremist movement.

It turns out that this sort of apolitical murder by extremist-associated people is a massive portion of the ADL’s study.

For instance, Aidan Ingalls was an obviously disturbed and suicidal boy who planned a school shooting and made a “hit list” of people he wanted to assassinate, including Trump. A few years later, Ingalls shot two random strangers — an elderly white couple on a pier.

ADL counted this as a “right-wing extremist” killing in the chart Levitz posted, because “police found swastikas and other white supremacist markings on the gun he used.” That’s obviously inapt, but it’s even more obviously not what Levitz called it: a right-wing “political murder.”...

If you're local, this is a bad memory:

...Darrell Brooks was a black man and a budding rapper who drove a car into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, killing six people and injuring dozens. His Facebook profile showed he was racially motivated and a supporter of BLM. One post showed the middle-finger emoji and the words “The old white ppl 2, KNOKK DEM TF OUT.” Brooks posted anti-police content and made posts about white privilege.

Where did this BLM supporter murdering white people show up in ADL’s study? He didn’t. It simply never mentioned the mass killing in its 2021 report....

Then there's another well-known case:

...Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old woman who identifies as a man, went into a Christian school and killed six children. She railed against white privilege and chose her target — her former elementary school — in part because it was Christian. In her manifesto, she railed against parents whose “conservative religion” makes them reject gender transitions. She also railed against white people and “privilege.”

Hale’s crimes do not show up in ADL’s 2023 report....

You'll hear that "Conservatives" are more violent.  But you'd be well-advised to avoid Lefties while shopping.

Would $439 MILLION Reduce Your Health Premium?

Closely related to the below post.......

... Health care insurance lobbyists are a key segment of the overall health sector that will spend more than $439 million in 2025 lobbying Congress, executive branch departments, and regulatory agencies....

A decisive majority of those donations go to Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and his Democratic colleagues, who refuse to end the shutdown unless extremely lucrative “temporary” health care tax subsidies that pour billions of tax dollars into the health care insurers’ coffers are made permanent....

Aside from the insurers, who's getting the Big Benefits from Obamacare/BidenSubsidies?

... “[Obamacare] Marketplace enrollment was relatively stable from 2017 to 2020. Since the enhanced subsidies were implemented in 2021, however, total enrollment has more than doubled from 12 million in 2021 to 24.32 million in 2025. Meanwhile, the number of Marketplace enrollees with incomes above 400 percent of the [Federal Poverty Level] FPL has quadrupled, from roughly 400,000 in 2021 to over 1.5 million in 2025, according to [Kaiser Family Foundation] KFF estimates,” they report....

At 400++%, you are simply not "poor."  You're more like middle- to upper-middle class.

Handing the money to insurers rather than to doctors, nurses, and hospitals, (or even to the sick) has not been good for anyone--except the insurers.

Let's design a better system.  Put Obama and his Little Lackey Twit Paul Ryan in their place--in Hell.

AFGE Cries "Uncle"

The Ass'n of FedGov Employees told the Democrats to pack it in and vote for the clean CR.

Schumer arranged that.  He had to have an excuse to give in, and 820,000 votes are a very good excuse, indeed.

Welfare for WHOM??

Y'all thought welfare money was going to your neighbors in need.  The ones who were born here, ran into bad luck for a while, needed a hand up.  Those guys, right?

Wrong.  It's going to the Democrat Party's favorite peeps:  illegals.

Bar chart displays welfare usage percentages across categories of cash food medicaid and housing for US-born-headed households in blue legal immigrant households in orange and illegal-headed households in purple with values such as 59 percent for illegal-headed in cash 52 percent for legal in food 39 percent for US-born in medicaid and lower figures like 5 percent for illegal in housing including cis.org watermark

Why You Sent Your Kid to Harvard, Right?

Higher education is so much more than the Classics these days.

“Sex Week” at Harvard University will run from Nov. 3-9 this year, marking the thirteenth consecutive installment of the event.

The week’s programming is primarily organized by Sexual Education by Harvard College Students (SEHCS), a student group that “invites local sex educators to campus to lead interdisciplinary, scholastic, and highly engaging workshops.”...

You're supposed to chuckle at "highly engaging".

Benefits to the occasion?

...According to an Instagram post advertising Sex Week, all events will offer attendees free food as well as free sex toys and supplies....

Let's NOT speculate about the foods which will be served.  Please.

BTW, is your husband or wife off to a "Harvard Business School seminar" that week?

The Fed's PRC Pals and Moles

It's tempting to call this "Egg-Roll Economics" but it's really very serious.

Most Americans have heard about Chinese spies targeting our military or hacking private companies. But there’s another front in this quiet war, one that’s gone largely unreported—and it may be the most dangerous of all: China’s long game to infiltrate and manipulate the United States Federal Reserve.

A 2022 Senate investigation offered a rare glimpse into this operation, but even that barely scratches the surface. What’s playing out behind closed doors isn’t just a few bureaucratic missteps or naïve collaborations—it’s a full-blown economic espionage campaign....

As usual with Natalie, the article is comprehensive and documented to a fare-thee-well.

The pattern is similar to the Red Chinese/UNC-Charlotte/Ralph Baric cooperation in developing CoVid.  It's all very friendly and professional, you know.  The plebes don't have to know about all this, because we are just scientists doing joint research, you know.  We all went to Georgetown, U of Pa., and Berkeley, you know.  So who the Hell are YOU to question us?

So what if the Chinese know all there is to know about Fed policy?

A false-flag or false signals from Red China can and will trigger a counter-action from FRB, of course.  That sets up a potentially very unpleasant financial/economic scenario here.

Who the Hell ever thought this would be a Good Idea?

How Rotten Is the CIA?

Some pretty serious words here.

... Steve Witkoff called out CIA for providing him and Jared Kushner with completely faulty intelligence regarding Hamas and the negotiations to end the fighting in Gaza. And he did it on air on 60 Minutes....

The author is an ex-spook and has a list of other offenses against common sense committed by Brennan (the Communist-voter) and his manly-gal protege Haspel.

But this is not the only Very Important Matter; it's most likely (near-certain) that CIA is also deliberately mis-informing the President on Ukraine.

That will be even more costly, and perhaps in the near term.

Time to demolish Langley, plow the ground with salt, and start all over.

C S Lewis on Hell

From the second preface to The Screwtape Letters, courtesy of AOSHQ

I live in the Managerial Age, in a world of "Admin." The greatest evil is not now done in those sordid "dens of crime" that Dickens loved to paint. It is not done even in concentration camps and labour camps. In those we see its final result. But it is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voices. Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the office of a thoroughly nasty business concern.

 Indeed.

'A Bunch of Karens' at No Kings Demos

Amusing and fact-based.

A psychotherapist has explained why many attendees of last week's No Kings protests were educated white women in their forties.

Jonathan Alpert, a New York City-based mental health counselor, told Fox News that '40-something women are probably the biggest demographic of consumers of mental health services. Probably twenties to forties'....

We know a few of the wimmins who marched around, around, around and he's right.  We also know one or two who are considerably older.  See the following for their excuse:

...this kind of person is 'quite fluent in learning how to express themselves, their emotions. So naturally that would play out on the city streets.'

'The No Kings protests, from what I've seen in person and on TV, it seems to me like a big venting session. It's almost like a big group therapy. So, people get stuff off their chest and they feel better in the moment, but it doesn't necessarily bring about any sort of positive change,' he said.

He said that rather than actually effecting change, many of them are simply craving community or validation, which he said 'can be addictive'.

'A lot of times people are unhappy in their own lives,' he told Fox. 'They may have anxiety or anger, and they project that onto others. That's partly what we're seeing play out at these rallies.'...

It fits.

22 Years Illegal Here......

The Scripps "news" organization specializes in Heartstring Propaganda.

Here's a sample.

The detention by immigration authorities of a Chicago man whose 16-year-old daughter is undergoing treatment for advanced cancer is illegal, and he must be given a bond hearing by Oct. 31, a federal judge has ruled....

Maybe it is, maybe it ain't.  ICE didn't grab the guy because he was jaywalking one day.

...“We’re pleased that the judge ruled in our favor in determining that ICE is illegally detaining Ruben. We will now turn the fight to immigration court so we can secure Ruben’s release on bond while he applies for permanent residence status,” his attorney, Kalman Resnick, said in a statement Friday night.

Aaaaaannnnnnnnnd here comes the "Cry Along With Us" part:

...Torres, a painter and home renovator, was detained at a suburban Home Depot store. His daughter, Ofelia Torres, was diagnosed in December with a rare and aggressive form of soft-tissue cancer called metastatic alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma and has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment....

Uh-huh.  (Side question:  who's paying for that very expensive treatment?)

Now for the Inconvenient Facts which Scripps is happy to bury:

Torres entered the U.S. in 2003, according to his lawyers. He and his partner, Sandibell Hidalgo, also have a 4-year-old son. The children are both U.S. citizens, according to court records.

So his shack-up main squeeze is ALSO an illegal.  Note well:  DHS/ICE is NOT tossing the shack-up out of the country.  Scripps "forgot" to mention that fact, didn't they?

... The Department of Homeland Security alleges that Torres has been living illegally in the U.S. for years and has a history of driving offenses, including driving without a valid license, without insurance, and speeding....

IOW, the guy has been an illegal for TWENTY TWO YEARS and is a threat to hundreds of other drivers and pedestrians in Illinois--not to mention their insurance carriers which will bear the cost burden when this character finally slams into someone.  Oh, and fighting with ICE agents while being apprehended is not very smart, either.

Suddenly, now, he decides to fill out the paperwork to "get on the path" to citizenship.........and we should put up with this crap?

Send him and the daughter to the Vatican for treatment.  He can paint buildings there, too.

Over/Under on Christian Watson?

Jay Weber speculated that Christian Watson will be active in three plays tonight before he goes down with another injury.

Three.

We are optimists in comparison.  We think he'll make it through until the 4th quarter.

Then he'll be out until the playoffs.

Place your over/under in the combox.

"Roma's" O'Reilly Gives Up on Leo XIV

He took about 2 weeks longer than we did, but his conclusion is the same.  The guy is "the Pope" but we are left on our own to hold fast to what is good.

That's happened before, and it will happen again.

As to secular affairs?  Leo is useless.

Trump Puts Tight Leash on Immigration Judges

INS judges report to Trump, indirectly.

The Trump Administration is ending immigration judges being allowed to release illegals back into America permanently.

‘Immigration judges can no longer grant bond for immigrants who entered the US without authorization’ “DHS calling the ruling, quote, a big win for our ICE attorneys securing our ability to detain illegal aliens until they are deported.”

“A new immigration court directive could keep people detained much longer before they're deported. The Board of Immigration Appeals, the top administrative body which interprets and applies immigration laws, released a new decision.

For the first time in American history, the court court ruled immigration judges can no longer grant bond for undocumented immigrants who entered the U.S. without authorization, all but guaranteeing mandatory detention for those detained. It is a monumental decision.”...

A monumentally GOOD decision.

But Pp. Leo won't like it.  O Me, O My!!

Pray To the Immaculate Conception

On December 8th, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is a holyday of obligation.  The day is a Big Deal.

Subordinate to that, but at the very top of the Supreme Court's current list of cases on the Constitution, we have a December 8th scheduling of the arguments on Humphrey's ExecutorYou know it is important because we have often posted about it:

ARTICLE TWO, SENTENCE ONE.

Get the hint?  This is about the Unitary Executive.

...As the great Antonin Scalia would write over 50 years later about that sentence in his solo dissent in Morrison v. Olsen, a case on the constitutionality of the Independent Counsel, “That does not mean some of the executive power, but all of the executive power.”...

The Founders had thoughts on the question.

...[The unitary executive] may be destroyed in two ways: either by vesting the power in two or more magistrates of equal dignity and authority; or by vesting it ostensibly in one man, subject, in whole or in part, to the control and co-operation of others, in the capacity of counsellors to him....

IOW, declaring--without foundation, of course--that 'the Attorney General is/should be independent of the President'.  Or that any other Cabinet Department is 'co-equal to the President in policymaking and is entitled to unlimited enforcement of that Department's regulatory schemes'.

Or--also germane to today's Lefty Rant of the Day--firing Government employees at will, just like YOU can be fired at will.  The inanity of arguing that the AG must be appointed by the President but after that does not have to do the President's will (within all the usual guidelines) is obviously the product of the  diseased minds who have forgotten Eric Holder and Merrick Garland--whose MO's trampled the usual guidelines almost to death.

Prayers should be offered so that SCOTUS makes the right decision:  the one that lines up with Scalia's comment on Article Two Sentence One

The ones like this one from Justice Thomas:

"The decision in Humphrey’s Executor poses a direct threat to our constitutional structure and, as a result, the liberty of the American people. The problem is that the Court’s premise was entirely wrong. The Constitution does not permit the creation of officers exercising “quasi-legislative” and “quasi-judicial powers” in “quasi-legislative” and “quasi-judicial agencies.” No such powers or agencies exist. "

Indeed.

Surprise!! Mexican Gov't Is Corrupt!!

One more reminder of the scope of the problems....

...“Ever since I was first assigned to work on firearms trafficking on the Southwest border, it has widely been reported and utilized that the U.S. civilian firearms market is responsible for the majority of crime guns being recovered in Mexico,” former Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Special Agent John Dodson tells Full Measure. “[That] our right to bear arms is to blame for the violence in Mexico and along the southwest border. [But] the vast majority of crime guns recovered in Mexico are purchased directly by the Mexican government.”

Dodson says it’s an important fact that is often kept hidden from the public....

Of COURSE it's "kept hidden."  No US bureaucrat likes to be known as a damn fool.  Suspected, yes.  But known?  Nope.

So.  Why is this happening?

... “When we first started telling the Mexicans, ‘You have to do something to stop the drug trafficking coming north of the border,’ the Mexican authorities needed resources and funds to do that,” he replied. “They needed to get the equipment to combat the Mexican drug cartels. So we started funding these operations, providing them with military surplus equipment, helicopters, firearms, providing them with hundreds of millions of dollars to purchase equipment. Much of that firearms.”...

And as naturally as water runs downhill, the CorruptoCrats of Mexico started re-selling the guns to their BFF's in the cartels.

Surprise!!!

CarPlay Buh-Bye! Why??

The Daily Mail doesn't have all of the story, but they have the beginning.

This week, General Motor's announced that it would eventually ax Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from its gas cars. ...

...They're extremely popular. A July study by AutoPacific found that more than 60 percent of shoppers wouldn't buy a car without either system.

But GM's decision isn't simply a case of ignoring what customers want.

It's part of a broader industry shift — one that's exposing a growing divide among automakers over how much control Silicon Valley should have inside their cars.

American car companies are spending billions to build their own infotainment platforms, hoping to rival Big Tech's in-car dominance.....

Yes, they are.  And they intend to get every dime back, and then someJust like with GM's OnStar system, car owners will be required to pay an annual subscription fee to use these systems.  It's not going to 'come with the car purchase' any more.

Mark the tape, Bo!!  In five years, you'll call me a prophet

The NBA's "Shenanigans" Problem

They're back at it!!  NBA peeps just can't stop screwing around with Big-Time Gambling (read: The Mob.)

And as you'd expect, the Commish is as useless as pants on a donkey.

...NBA commissioner Adam Silver admits the NBA investigated then-Hornets guard Terry Rozier over potential sports betting infractions in 2023.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the first quarter of Friday’s Knicks-Celtics game at the Garden, Silver said that Rozier cooperated with NBA investigators, but the league concluded there was “insufficient evidence” to discipline the player. ...

Yah, Adam.  The FBI arrested this bozo, but you couldn't "find" evidence.

Good job, Adam

Pp. Leo's Pritzker Talking Points

Looks as if the current Pope gets crib-notes from Gov. Pritzker.

...He said countries must protect their borders. However, Pope Leo also said they must balance their right to security with the “moral obligation to provide refuge.” ...

The US does that, ya'know.  We have 'humanitarian' refugees here, legally.  Of course, the Obama/Biden regimes mis-classified tens of thousands of invaders as 'refugees,' but.......

... “Ever more inhuman measures are being adopted—even celebrated politically—that treat these ‘undesirables’ [migrants, ed.] as if they were garbage and not human beings,” he said. “Christianity, on the other hand, refers to the God who is love, who creates us and calls us to live as brothers and sisters.”...

Dear Pp. Leo:  murderers, rapists, fraudsters, and  drug-, sex-, and human labor-traffickers ARE "undesirables."  Please clean up your rhetorical blathering before the Church loses all credibility on these mattersStop reading talking points from Pritzker or your floaty little Bishop from El Paso.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Tosa Has No Emergency Reserve Money?

Rather than blame "the Trump Administration" for every.  damn.  thing.  that goes wrong, including pimples, loss of hair, flat tires, and wrinkles, perhaps the Mayor of Wauwatosa (and the Milwaukee County Exec, the Mayor of Milwaukee, the County Exec of Waukesha.....etc., etc., etc., ) should be quizzed about having Emergency Reserve Funds.

Because they do not have them, based on the yammering and wailing we see today.

Why not?

That's a damn good question, ain'a?

Maduro: More Than A Tin-Pot Dictator, and Far Worse

There is a good deal of squalling and shrieking on the 'net regarding Trump's aggressive push against Maduro of Venezuela.  Both hard-Left (communist fellow-travelers of Maduro) and some tight-assed righties are kvetching.  Naturally, the "news" tells you little or nothing of what we're going to put up here.

Maybe they should keep up with the real MaduroFirst off, he is the successor to Hugo Chavez in nearly every way, including making sure that he is 'elected.'

He is the leader of a drug cartel:  Cartel de Los Soles.  He is the reason that Tren de Aragua is terrorizing parts of the US.  He financed Black Lives Matter.  He is most likely financing a good part of the "anti-fascist" movement, another Communist front just like the Party for Socialism and Liberation--not to mention Code Pink (!!).  His close pal, the "President" of Colombia, cheerleads for the "No Kings" bunch along with the oligarch Bernie Sanders--and probably finances a part of it, too.

IOW, he covers the chaos + terrorism waterfront in the USA with the money from petroleum.

But he doesn't stop with the US!!  He also harbors and finances Hezbollah, and provides fake passports for the members on demand.

We're not done.....

Chavez and Maduro illegally used funds from PDVSA — Venezuela's state-run oil and natural gas company — to finance other left-wing political movements in the world for at least 15 years. The main recipients of the funds were Néstor Kirchner in Argentina, Lula da Silva in Brazil, Evo Morales in Bolivia, Petro in Colombia, Fernando Lugo in Paraguay, and the Podemos party in Spain, as well as the Five Star Movement in Italy

He is determined to overthrow the President of Argentina ...

Which is why Trump tossed Argentina a $40BN lifeline, over the objections of the Hard Left and some know-it-all ('the JOOOOOOS did it!'  Alllllll of it!!!) grouch from the Chicago area (who has gone stark-raving-mad TDS in the last 90 days.)

It is good that Trump is blowing up Maduro's power-boats.  It is also acceptable practice, by the way, when dealing with terrorist drug cartels whose purpose is to sow chaos in the USThose are acts of war, declared or not, and deserve act-of-war responses.

Teachers Sue Over CDL's for Illegals (?!??)

The Administration has issued regs preventing ILLEGALS from obtaining CDL's.

So the American Federation of Teachers and the AFSCME (muni, county, state workers union) has sued to overturn those regs.

The Teachers' Union?

What?  Is AFT planning on organizing a union for illegals?

For that matter, why AFSCME?  By and large, they are fat and happy bureaucrats.  Do they need support from illegals?  What for?

The obvious answer:  anything to create chaos in the US society.  It's a commonplace among the hard-Left (Communist) radicals which now own the AFT and AFSCME.

The less-than-bright gadfly "Capper" who shows up in our combox is an AFSCME loyalist.  Someone should ask him about this.

Democrats Cause EBT Problem. Press Complies.

Teary-Eyed Tony Evers is happy to blame anybody but Chuck Schumer for the upcoming EBT/SNAP food benefits problem.

And--of course--the "press" doesn't push Teary-Eyes on that question.

In reality, a 'clean bill' extending those benefits has been blocked TEN TIMES by Chuck Schumer and the Democrats, including Little Tammy Baldwin--who supposedly represents the poor and downtrodden in Wisconsin.

Did Teary-Eyed Tony call on Tammy to vote FOR food for Wisconsinites?

Nope.

Think a "reporter" will ask about that?

HELL, nope!

Trump Getting Stupid?

Bad enough that Trump is willing to overlook the EU's long-range missile attacks on Russia (designed to force America into the war).

Even worse that he displays his arrogant ignorance (NYC boy, you understand) about beef prices.

President Donald Trump says U.S. cattle ranchers are benefiting from tariffs he has imposed on imports but must lower prices to encourage American consumers to buy their beef.

Trump earlier this week said the administration was considering importing Argentine beef as a means of lowering record-high consumer beef prices. The suggestion angered U.S. ranchers. ...

..."The Cattle Ranchers, who I love, don't understand that the only reason they are doing so well, for the first time in decades, is because I put Tariffs on cattle coming into the United States, including a 50% Tariff on Brazil," Trump wrote in a post Wednesday, Oct. 22, on Truth Social. "They also have to get their prices down, because the consumer is a very big factor in my thinking, also!"  --AOSHQ quoting DesMoines Register.

Trump tariffs, my ass.  The reason(s) that beef prices are high are feed prices partially caused by jamming corn into gas tanks rather than into beef cattle, innumerable EPA intrusions into ranching protocols, droughts affecting alfalfa supplies.....

Go back to building ballrooms.

And get the F*** OUT OF EUROPE.

Pritzker (et.al.) Will Lose Here

The usual lying blather from the Usual Suspects mis-construes the Federal statute regarding the National Guard at the Broadview ICE facility.  They want you to believe that it's all about building security and the safety of ICE personnel.

It is NOT.

Here's what actually applies, courtesy of the 9th Circuit:

Should Potheads Own Guns?

This will be fun to watch--sorta.

The Supreme Court said on Monday that it will consider whether people who regularly smoke marijuana can legally own guns...

President Donald Trump’s administration asked the justices to revive a case against a Texas man charged with a felony because he allegedly had a gun in his home and acknowledged being a regular pot user. The Justice Department appealed after a lower court largely struck down a law that bars people who use any illegal drugs from having guns. ...

IOW, Trump's position is that Potheads forfeit the RKBA.

He's right.  One of the well-known effects of regular pot use is an increased tendency to violence.  You can figure that out all by yourself if you read the newspaper about 'inner city gun violence.'

So Cheech & Chong will be defenseless against the Munchies Gang.

Lying From Israel's Property: the CIA

Until few months ago, Bannon was kinda/sorta agnostic on the Problem of Israel.  He made some noises about some perfidies, but not often, and not emphatically.

Then Israel lied to Trump and Trump bombed the beJesus out of Iran.

Then Israel lied to Trump--AGAIN--and they bombed Qatar.

Now Bannon is righteously PO'd, as every US citizen should be, unless you're on the Israeli payroll, as are many in "our" CIA,  D.C., the Press, and "academia."

Think perhaps Trump will ignore the CIA's perfidious lying about Ukraine?

Hmmmmm????

The Rest of the Story on Paying Fed Workers

You've probably seen the "reports" on local TeeeeeVeeeee stating that the Airport Pandas, Air Traffic Controllers, and other FedGov security and safety peeps are working without paychecks.

True--as far as it goes.  But that's not the WHOLE truth, of courseIt's the propaganda truth, eagerly relayed by "highly-experienced and professional" reporters.

In fact:

...Republicans have a standalone bill to pay the troops and those federal employees who are reporting to work. So Democrats should want to support that if they care about our military and the workers, right?

Not so much. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) made it clear that he opposed such standalone legislation, calling it a "political ploy." ...

...The Democrats are placing their own political agenda ahead of those people. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) even offered them a vote on Obamacare subsidies if they voted to reopen the government, and they're still holding out. So they absolutely have no excuse....

But their asses are covered by the Propaganda Press, including the locals.

We Warned You About Georgetown

This is not really a shock if one has kept up with events over the last 30 years.

The incoming president of Georgetown University has said he repudiates the Catholic Church’s teachings on homosexuality. He also appeared to criticize the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade.

The nominally Catholic, Jesuit university in Washington, D.C., recently announced its selection of Eduardo Peñalver as its new president, to start next year. Peñalver is currently the president of Seattle University, another Jesuit university....

...Peñalver has previously said he thinks the Catholic Church erred in its teachings on homosexuality.

“I reject the Church’s teachings on homosexuality, so I would favor an even easier way out by treating committed gay relationships as morally valuable,” Peñalver wrote in 2014 in Commonweal. He was responding to criticism of the Archdiocese of Seattle for removing a Catholic high school’s male vice-principal who “married” another man. “I take inspiration in my own marriage from the committed gay couples I have known,” he said.

As the dean of Cornell University’s law school, the new Georgetown president also advocated for keeping gender-confused men and women in the military. He said Trump’s proposed ban in 2017 on “transgender” troops was an “unprecedented step backwards in the progress towards greater tolerance and inclusion in our nation’s military.”...

The last actually-Catholic prof at Georgetown, Fr. Jim Schall, died a few years ago.  That was about 25 years after Georgetown became ANTI-CatholicFr. Schall was a tough cookie!

Gee. Minority "Contractor" Plays the System

The contractor is Indian--a favored minority--and grabbed $100 million in taxpayer money.

Then they hand 80% of the actual work to other contractors.

If you are surprised, you are brain-dead.

Portland Today, Chicago Tomorrow!!!

Read it and weep, Lefty Bozo Brigade:

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled Monday that President Donald Trump has the authority to deploy the National Guard to Portland, Oregon, reversing a decision by a district judge earlier this month....

Quoting the Court:

... “After considering the record at this preliminary stage, we conclude that it is likely that the President lawfully exercised his statutory authority under 10 U.S.C. § 12406(3), which authorizes the federalization of the National Guard when ‘the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States,'” the majority wrote in their decision....

Just a reminder:  read Article Two, Sentence One for understanding.

"No Kings": 650K National Number

Not millions.

You may have noted that local "news" coverage of the event was...........subdued--or non-existent.  While Cathedral Square had a group, arguably a few thousand, and Waukesha managed to come up with several hundred, the 'burbs had only bite-sized crowds.

So did the entire country.

So sad, too bad

The Heart of Wokeness? Radical Disorder

There's a recent essay which is generating a lot of comment--deservedly so.  It's by Helen Andrews, and it notes with alarm the feminization of the culture.

NonVeni provided a few pull-quotes which are dead-on observations.

... “Cancel culture is simply what women do whenever there are enough of them in a given organization or field. That is the Great Feminization thesis, which the same author later elaborated upon at book length: Everything you think of as “wokeness” is simply an epiphenomenon of demographic feminization....

IOW, it's the feline remedy.

...Wokeness arose around the same time that many important institutions tipped demographically from majority male to majority female. The substance fits, too. Everything you think of as wokeness involves prioritizing the feminine over the masculine: empathy over rationality, safety over risk, cohesion over competition. One survey, for example, found that 71 percent of men said protecting free speech was more important than preserving a cohesive society, and 59 percent of women said the opposite....

Did you notice that the Current Hot Thing in grade schools is referring to the students as "Friends" rather than 'boys and girls' or 'students' or 'children'?  See above graf again if necessary.

...“Female group dynamics favor consensus and cooperation. Men order each other around, but women can only suggest and persuade. Any criticism or negative sentiment, if it absolutely must be expressed, needs to be buried in layers of compliments. The outcome of a discussion is less important than the fact that a discussion was held and everyone participated in it. The most important sex difference in group dynamics is attitude to conflict. In short, men wage conflict openly while women covertly undermine or ostracize their enemies....

That is called "backstabbing."  Yes, men use it too--but they learned it someplace.

The author, Andrews, fears for the legal system's future:

... “A feminized legal system might resemble the Title IX courts for sexual assault on college campuses established in 2011 under President Obama. These proceedings were governed by written rules and so technically could be said to operate under the rule of law. But they lacked many of the safeguards that our legal system holds sacred, such as the right to confront your accuser, the right to know what crime you are accused of, and the fundamental concept that guilt should depend on objective circumstances knowable by both parties, not in how one party feels about an act in retrospect. These protections were abolished because the people who made these rules sympathized with the accusers, who were mostly women, and not with the accused, who were mostly men.”...

Logically, when the legal system goes off-kilter, the rule of law will let go.  Yeats wrote about that.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Boil this all down and you can deduce the real name of the problem:  disorder.  Genesis--of course--set up Right Order wherein women were subject to men, not their overlords.  It is understood that men--while retaining 'headship'--are expected to sacrifice themselves for the sake of women 'as Christ loved the Church'; that is, even unto death.

But Right Order does not contemplate nor allow women to hold 'headship.'

Thus the malaise of US society.

The Ford "Doh!"

It wasn't only FoMoCo that wasted billions.  'Personnel Manager Mary' of GM has the same problem.

Former Ford CEO Mark Fields said on Tuesday that US automakers overestimated consumer demand when they started ramping up production of electric vehicles.

"Over the last couple of years, the automakers really went full bore in putting in capacity for EVs," Fields, 64, told CNBC's "Power Lunch."

"They really didn't have a good discussion on the consumer, in terms of what it was going to take to get the consumer to buy these EV products," Fields said....

But but but but Fields has a Harvard MBA!!  How could he...........aaaach.  Nevermind.

...General Motors said in an exchange filing on Tuesday that it was taking a $1.6 billion charge "based on a planned strategic realignment of our EV capacity and manufacturing footprint to consumer demand."

... "This is clearly an issue where the market didn't develop the way automakers thought. A lot of them, particularly in GM's case, boasted that they had the full lineup of EVs," Fields said on Tuesday....

Discussion of "Free Money" (rebates) is included in the article.  But there is NO discussion of the fact that the EV market began dying about mid-2024--or earlier--long before the Free Money was slated to vanish.   Ask Rivian, or Tesla.

There's a lot of factory space which will soon be available, cheap.  Good place for pharmaceutical manufacturers, furniture manufacturers, PC manufacturers, and--who knows--even good old-fashioned I.C.E. car manufacturers.

Trump tariffs work!!

Another Rat-in-Woodpile at Georgetown

It's not too well-known that Georgetown University is home to hundreds of corruptocrats, although since it's Jesuit and thus easily bought--and is in D.C.--it's not a surprise.

One of the most corrupt Democrat operatives is Mary McCord (now teaching at Guess Where?), who was a major player in all the "get Trump" activities.  She served as a co-ordinator, story-line writer, and (illegally) as a pass-through of information.

...To enhance this ongoing effort, Twitter user “pepesgrandma” shares an email exchange from Mary McCord to the FBI in December of 2020 following the election.

Apparently, Mary McCord was conducting surveillance of an Oathkeeper chat room and sending information to the FBI following the November 2020 election, and in the runup to the January 6, 2021 protest....

Now you know why S.702 will NEVER be repealed.  It's far too convenient for slugs like McCord and her bed-mate slugs in the FBI.

...It appears Mrs. McCord then forwarded the email to someone [REDACTED], likely within the J6 Committee or Jack Smith investigation on Sept 24, 2021.

There’s a reason why the J6 Committee deleted the records of their activity, an angle missed by most.  When you understand what they hid, and why they did it, you then understand why current Speaker of The House Mike Johnson will not go near the subject.

The J6 targets were identified through a collaboration between the legislative research group and the FBI. [That’s unlawful by the way – but that’s another matter]. The FBI contracted Palantir to identify the targets using facial recognition software and private sector databases.

Once identified, the targets were then searched in the NSA database for a fulsome context of identity. All subsequent electronic metadata of the targets was retrieved and utilized in prosecution; however, no one ever discovered this was the collaborative method. That has not come out yet....

The very well-coiffed Speaker of the House will not get his hairdo mussed up by releasing too much information.

But Trump's minions can.  And should.

Bongino?  Where are you??

The Shutdown Problem Is Actually ObamaCare

Ticker spells it out for all y'all.

... It's rather simple really: The Democrats beclowned themselves over the last few years with the Biden subsidy expansion.  They inadvertently proved that Obamacare cannot and will never work, nor will any similar structure, to control and lower costs.

Why?

Well, before pandemic subsidy expansion the only way to obtain (poor quality and very high deductible / out-of-pocket) "coverage" at modest to moderate cost was to make less than 140% of the poverty line, including non-taxable income such as that from municipal bonds.  At that level all subsidies ceased; this was called the "subsidy cliff."...

The magic number for "free" coverage?  $40,000 of Modified Adjusted Gross Income.  Fine--unless you went $1.00 over that number, in which case you had to pay back about $10K.

For obvious reasons, lots of people went naked instead.

When the Biden/Democrat regime came along, it changed the rules for subsidies.

...it capped the premiums for a "benchmark plan" at 8.5% of annual income, and for those with incomes below 150% of the federal poverty level some (worst of course, but still something) plans had a premium cost of zero.  By doing this it also prevented, with certainty, the risk of making a bit too much and getting hammered at tax time with a $10,000 subsidy recapture bill...

Problem solved?

Hell NO!

... As both sides concede, and of course the official data shows, this change during the pandemic resulted in a lot of new sign-ups -- millions of them, in fact.  Those people included many who had no economic argument for buying the plan before as they were healthy, had significant income and thus had to pay full price -- and as a result they refused.  What the subsidy expansion caused is the opposite of "adverse selection" and in a functional market where you are not being robbed would have resulted in very large before-subsidy drops in the cost of said policies by greatly improving the average medical spend across the entire pool of people.

What actually happened is that over those years the before-subsidy price WENT UP.

That's proof -- by actual experience -- that what was originally sold; that having people without pre-existing problems in the pool and contributing (taxpayer money, thus circular in form and function but still going into the medical system) would lower costs for everyone on average -- was in fact false.

What happened instead was that the totality of costs through the Obamacare system on a per-person basis, after a very small dip in the first year, once again increased continually despite the enhanced subsidies and thus uptake by healthier people....

And here we are.

Never forget that CJ "Julia" Roberts invented crap to keep ObamaCare on the books.

Never forget that Paul Ryan made ObamaCare permanent by refusing to bring up the repeal legislationPaul Ryan was and still is one of the most perfidious jackwads ever to serve in Congress.

And never forget that those two--with hundreds of other Cloud People "Experts" and "Smarter-Than-You" jackasses are the reason for Donald Trump.

Word! On Those Protests

The column sums it up pretty well.  Here's the nub of it:

...Protests are meant to be the voices of the unheard. Yet these protests are the voices of those who never shut up. Not for one minute, not for ten years, and all of us have had to endure them like being trapped inside Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory with hundreds of thousands of Veruca Salts....

A lot of superannuated types wheelchairing while re-living their teenage years protesting VietNam.

But at least they had a case then, and they had lots of sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll.

These days, the drugs are prescriptions, the sex.......well...........and rock'n'roll is like Vivaldi to the younger generations--a foreign concept.  Worse yet:  the under-30 crowd loves them some Trump.

Heh.

UPDATE:  More good analysis from another blog!

...No Kings is less like a protest and more like an emotional clearinghouse for generalized Trump resentment. There’s no legislative demand, no policy plank, not even a unifying grievance beyond “Trump = bad.” It’s the political version of primal scream therapy — catharsis through ‘collective activism.’

In other words, it’s group therapy cosplaying as democracy. They should call it a mental health session. Instead of protest signs, they should hand out clipboards, mood surveys, and those folding paper crowns that Burger King gives out for kids’ fast-food birthday parties.

To be fair, it is “inclusive” in the sense that it invites anarchists, neoliberals, bored college kids, restless boomers, never-Trumpers, socialists, professional NGOs — everyone can show up, wave signs, shout slogans, and feel virtuous together....

Only problem with his thesis is that 'mental health' may never again darken the doorways of most of those protesters.  Otherwise?  Good stuff!

Hard-Left "Diamond Jim" Doyle Re-Surfaces

So happens my old man knew "Diamond Jim's" old man, and Old Man Doyle would roll over in his grave if he knew what Li'l Jimmy-Boy is doing.

Pierre Omidyar is an Iranian born in Paris. He is best known as the creator of eBay. He is rolling in cash. His net worth is estimated at in excess of $10 billion. He funds a whole host of non-profits behind which he hides as he does his best to steer the United States in the direction of his own personal preferences....

Scroll down a bit on that link and you'll find the irresistible face of Diamond Jim.  By the way, one of his most significant funders is the founder/Chairman of Epic Systems--used by hospitals nationwide (and full of bugs.)

...Omidyar’s GovAct also supports something called Governors Safeguarding Democracy (GSD). GSD is run by Julia Spiegel, the same lady who runs GovAct. GSD was created in November 2024 for the explicit purpose of resisting Donald Trump and his agenda.

What we see in the case of Omidyar and GovAct is what is increasingly the model for leftist political activity in this country. Organizations appear out of nowhere with glitzy websites and well-crafted mission statements talking about ‘bipartisan’ efforts to safeguard democracy and fight oppression. They claim to represent coalitions of ordinary citizens who have spontaneously organized.

It’s all a lie. Behind all of these groups are a handful of unbelievably wealthy individuals, who, having gotten rich off of capitalism and free enterprise, now seek to burn the whole system to the ground....

You should not be surprised that Doyle showed up here.  Instead, you should be forewarned.  Diamond Jim still has a lot of influence in the Ever-More-Lefty Democrat Party of Wisconsin.

How Evers Pays for Illegals' Health Coverage

The mechanism is a bit complex, but it works.

The tax revenue can be spent any way Wisconsin's regulators want.  IOW, it can be and is spent on illegals.   That's different from the Fed money, which may NOT be spent on illegals--except for emergency care.

Does that mean that there's a lot of lying going on?

Damn straight there is.

Overview of Provider Tax in Wisconsin

Provider taxes in Wisconsin are fees levied on healthcare providers to help finance the state's share of Medicaid expenditures. These taxes are crucial for maintaining and enhancing healthcare services within the state.

Key Features of Wisconsin Provider Tax

Definition and Purpose

  • Provider Tax: A mandatory payment imposed on healthcare providers, where at least 85% of the tax burden falls on them.
  • Funding: Revenue from these taxes is used to increase Medicaid payment rates and support the overall Medicaid program.

Types of Providers Taxed

  • Classes of Providers: Commonly taxed providers include:
    • Hospitals
    • Nursing facilities
    • Intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF/ID)

Financial Impact

  • Revenue Generation: Provider taxes allow states to draw down federal matching funds, effectively increasing the available resources for Medicaid without relying solely on state general funds.
  • Implementation: The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) administers the hospital assessment program, which has been in place since 2009.

Current Issues and Considerations

  • Legislative Changes: Recent proposals have suggested limiting or eliminating provider taxes as a means to reduce federal Medicaid spending, which could significantly impact healthcare funding in Wisconsin.
  • Economic Effects: Changes to provider taxes could lead to increased costs for taxpayers and reduced access to healthcare services for many residents.

Understanding the provider tax is essential for grasping how Wisconsin finances its Medicaid program and the potential implications of any legislative changes.

Another Lefty Pol Likes Armed Violence. Surprise!!

Actually, NOT a surprise.

Graham Platner, who is running as an insurgent Democratic candidate for Senate in Maine, once suggested in online posts that violence is a necessary means to achieving social change — comments now drawing scrutiny in an era of increased political violence....

Not really "insurgent."  He's mainstream Democrat these days.

...If people “expect to fight fascism without a good semi-automatic rifle, they ought to do some reading of history,” he wrote in one since-deleted post. In another, he said that “an armed working class is a requirement for economic justice.”

CNN first reported Thursday on Platner’s participation on the subreddit r/SocialistRA, alongside other Reddit forums where he called himself a “communist” and said that “all” police are bastards. All of the posts have been deleted....

Fits right in with AOC, Mamdami, and that AG-WannaBee from Virginia--today's Democrat Party up-and-comers.  The difference between them and Antifa?  Antifa wears masks and has pre-placed piles of bricks ready to throw.

But he's right about one thing:  the Second Amendment is THE bulwark against such as the Obama/Biden fascists.  The "self-defense" thing is nice, but was never part of the Founders' thinking when they wrote the Second.

Glad he brought it up!!

Men at Manpower? Nope

What you have here is a case of No-Manhood-in-Management.  It's called "ManpowerGroup".

Shannon Kobylarczyk, a Brewers fan who said “let’s call ICE” on a Latino Dodgers fan at Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, has been fired from her job, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Kobylarczyk, who worked for ManpowerGroup, also resigned from her role on the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin board of directors, the outlet added....

The Dodgers fan was also ejected from the game AND banned for life from the Brewers' stadium.  Think about that before you declare that Kobylarczyk is some horrible-terrible-racist Karen Beeeyotch.

Her remark was edgy, but in keeping with the sparring-match that led up to it.  Even the Dodgers fan admitted it--when he sobered up:

... “I don’t think it was like horrible or something that should get her fired. I feel bad for her,” Fosado told the Journal Sentinel. “We cannot be judged on one mistake and a lot of emotions were involved. It was just hurt feelings, nobody physically hurt anybody.”...

What did we learn here?

ManpowerGroup's C-Suite has no real men in it.  The company's name is fraudulent.

We also learn--from another source--that the Great Feminization is getting worse.  Prepare!!

Patel on Kirk Assassination: More GarbleFarble

Think Patel & Co. have figured out that the first official story doesn't add up?

FBI Director Kash Patel told Just the News in an interview that the bureau is continuing to investigate the assassination of Charlie Kirk, including the possibility of accomplices or assistance from other suspects.

He said that once the bureau collects enough evidence, they would refer any possible additional suspects to the prosecutors who are handling the case. “We're looking at everyone that was there, that was online, and we're looking to refer these matters to the state prosecution authorities when there's enough evidence,” Patel told the Just the News, No Noise TV show in a wide-ranging interview that aired last week. ...

There's a lot of Wormtongue in those phrases.

Still waiting for the FEEBS to explain their fairy-tale about a K98 "takedown" rifle and how a .30-06 round magically stopped in Kirk's body after only a 200-yard shot.

Hint:  they can't.

Trading Children for Brain Cancer

Looks like Pfizer has a new problem.

Women who use Depo-Provera face a higher risk of developing a slow-growing brain tumor, according to a new study that comes as the contraceptive’s maker, Pfizer, faces hundreds of lawsuits claiming that it was aware of the potential risks.

Depo-Provera — the brand name for depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) — contains the synthetic progestin hormone, which stops the ovaries from releasing an egg to prevent pregnancy....

But hey!  You don't have to worry about telling the kids, do you?

Lying With Numbers: Illegals and Social Security

Those who want illegal aliens present in the US usually mention--loudly and repeatedly--that illegals paid $25.7 BILLION into Social Security in 2022.

What they do NOT mention?

Total S.S. revenue in 2022 was $1.195 TRILLION.

In other words, the illegals "contributed" only 2.2% of total Social Security revenues.

That's not a surprise, considering that only about 15% of them are actually working.  The rest?  They find ways to scam welfare and healthcare--usually with "anchor" babies who are US citizens due to an insanity in the Left-majority Congress.

Don't be fooled by the Rhetoric of Large Numbers--or Lying By Omission.

Democrats Refuse to Pay Troops

This is telling:

Senate Democrats on Thursday turned an annual Pentagon funding bill into the collateral damage of a fierce shutdown battle, blocking the legislation as they pressed for an agreement that includes their domestic priorities....

Their priorities include free healthcare for illegals and a massive deficit-generating "fix" for ObamaCare-caused medical cost increases.

You know who would pay for those, right?

Sensenbrenner To Weep Bitter Tears

Some of you recall James Sensenbrenner as a "Conservative" Republican.

He was also a racist in the peculiar and perverse fashion of the day, hammering on enforcement of S.2 of the VRA in the South.  Worse, he voted for Section 702 of the "Patriot" Act, which meant that the FBI could (and does) spy on you for any reason at all, so long as they can conjure up a connection to "national security".

In other words, James Sensenbrenner was NOT a "Conservative."

But soon, his racism vehicle will be declared dead--at least partially.

...Back in the 80s, if I remember right, left-wing extremists began demanding that section 2 of the Voting Rights Act be read to require explicitly race-based gerrymandering to create majority-minority districts.

These majority-minority districts just so happened to be Democrat-supermajority districts, and this imposition was placed on the states of the old Confederacy, which just so happen to be Republican states.

Left-wing judges agreed with this idea, naturally, and began demanding that red states gerrymander their congressional districts to always guarantee Democrats of 3-4 bonus seats that they would never, ever have in a normal partisan gerrymander. While the blue states worked relentlessly to eliminate all Republican-leaning districts, or to pack all Republicans into just one or two districts to make sure every other district was Democrat-majority, Republicans have been forced by left-wing judges to always carve out special Democrats-Only districts....

Sensenbrenner, from his perch in Congress, pursued vigorous enforcement of  S.2 VRA's "legal" racism until the very end.

He also never gave a second thought to the Spy-On-YOU!! Act he voted for, and voted to renew.

But he carried around a copy of the Constitution, see??

The DPI Coverup: Teacher Sex Misconduct/Grooming

This is a pretty big story.  Kevin brings it:

A yearlong investigation by the Cap Times found the state Department of Public Instruction investigated more than 200 Wisconsin teachers, aides, substitutes and administrators from 2018 to 2023 who were accused of sexual misconduct or grooming behaviors toward students — information previously unknown to the public.

The department’s internal records show these allegations included educators sexually assaulting students, soliciting nude photos from children or initiating sexual relationships immediately after students graduated.

Licensing officials also investigated educators accused of grooming behaviors like flirting with children, spending non-school time alone and isolated with students, or invading students’ personal space by rubbing their shoulders, thighs and lower backs....

The Cap Times article does NOT say whether "investigations" became "prosecutions" and "convictions."  That's a very important distinction.

However:

... Licensing officials also allow educators under investigation to forfeit their credentials in exchange for avoiding in-depth probes.

· Unlike a different agency that regulates hundreds of other state-licensed professionals — like nurses and accountants —
the Department of Public Instruction doesn’t tell the public why an educator lost their license. Advocates say this lack of transparency makes it easier for educator misconduct to avoid detection and happen again.

·
Out of 461 teachers the state investigated from 2018 to 2023 for all forms of misconduct, 207 kept their credentials and could continue working in schools with children....

So..........250++ teachers LOST their credentials in that 5 year period--and recall that a couple of those were CoVid years when no kids were in school.

Yet you never heard of all this until today.

And another surprise:

[State Superintendent of Public Instruction] Underly declined requests for an interview.

Huh.

Jay Weber's Wrong. Again.

Yesterday, Jay Weber declared Putin to be dead.  Metaphorically, of course.

And yesterday, Jay Weber was wrong.  Again.  When we heard him state that Putin is "isolated" and therefore should be inclined to give up in the war, we knew Jay was off his meds.

Another opinion:

... What my Zionist acquaintance, as well as most in the Trump administration, fails to grasp is that Russia is not isolatedBRICS is not a novelty nor a flash-in-the-pan. The economic ties between India, China and Russia — which represent three of the top four economies in the world — are growing, and new financial systems of payments and trade are being created. In fact, of the 27 countries that attended the Sharm El-Sheikh ceremony, six of them are members or partners of BRICS and boast GDP growth rates in excess of 4%, while the US and its NATO allies face massive debt burdens and are growing at rates less than 2%....

Who was NOT at the big ceremony?

Saudi Arabia, Xi, and Putin

Who WAS there?  Three useless toads:  Starmer, Merz, and Macron.

Tells you something.

Ticker Is Prolly Right

 We're with Ticker on this.

It appears that everyone has bought into the "peace" deal between Israel and Hamas over Gaza.

Well, maybe....

... There are certainly many things that must be reversed which currently stand; those who have read my column for any length of time should know what most of them are.  They haven't changed and thus far none of them have occurred and in fact have gotten more-negative in all respects.  They're all still real issues and must be addressed; none can remain as they are if you really expect this situation to be truly resolved.  I'm deeply skeptical for this reason above all else....

In a way, the Trump Solution is the same one proposed by Nixon and Bush-the-Dumber:  make those Chinese into fat, rich, capitalists and they won't have war-ambitions.  Simili modo, 'Make Gaza (and the Palestinians) into hotel/nightclub owners and they won't have war-ambitions.'

But China didn't work out exactly according to plan, did it?

Robert Frost had it:  ".............and miles to go before I sleep."

Section 702 Bites Graham, Blackburn in the.......

It is mentioned that LllllllllllliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnndSEY!!! and Sen. Blackburn were major proponents of the "Patriot Act," of which Section 702 allows spying on ANY American--Senator or not--for any reason, so long as there is a  "national security" angle, real or invented.

Their own petard.

Hoist away!!!

(D) Shutdown Shuts Down Soybean Relief Plan

You don't have to drive far in Wisconsin to see a soybean field.  Thus, when the Chinese Communists halted purchase of US soybeans, it made a difference here.

And elsewhere:

American soybean farmers across key agricultural states like Minnesota, Illinois, and Arkansas are nearing the completion of their annual harvest. However, they may not have any markets to export their product to. The ongoing trade dispute between the United States and China has seen soybean farmers take a hit as China, which typically purchases over $12 billion worth of American soybeans annually, has not bought any this year....

Trump would like to send a few dollars to the affected farmers, but........

...“President Trump, Secretary Bessent, and Secretary Rollins are always in touch about the needs of our farmers,” said White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly. “Unfortunately, Democrats in Congress have stalled progress on this issue with their prolonged shutdown to serve illegal immigrants instead of America’s farmers.”...

For some reason or other, the local and national news outlets forgot to mention the Democrat Shutdown's effect on farm relief.

George Orwell, Astute Social Critic

Cadged from Ed Driscoll:

...“In his prophetic novel, 1984, George Orwell perfectly described Haley, Styx and all the rest of these female fascists: ‘It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and the nosers-out of unorthodoxy.’”...

The Blue-Haired Geezers are usually accompanied by actually 'young' ones.  So Orwell's maxim "....always the women..." holds true.

Orwell didn't mention the Henpecked Twits who have to drive and find parking
