Progress!! Nothing but Progress!!!
Alliant Energy has announced it will be developing a battery energy storage system that will be located on a seven-acre lot adjacent to Sheboygan’s Edgewater Generating Station.
Pending approval by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, the 99-megawatt battery system will have enough storage capacity to power over 100,000 homes for four hours. Alliant plans to begin construction in 2024, and the new system is expected to be in service shortly after Edgewater is retired in 2025....
Alliant is also putting up battery-storage in Grant and Wood Counties. Let's hope they have really big fire departments, too.
So why this Fire Department thing?
A fire at the world’s largest battery storage plant in Northern California smoldered Friday after sending plumes of toxic smoke into the atmosphere, leading to the evacuation of up to 1,500 people. The blaze also shook up the young battery storage industry. The fire at the Vistra Energy lithium battery plant in Moss Landing generated huge flames and significant amounts of smoke Thursday but had diminished significantly by Friday...
Toxic smoke, mass evacuations, and the typical "you can't extinguish this fire" of lithium batteries.
Progress!! Nothing but Progress!!!
I guess when your only skill is to be stupid you just double down...
