Dopenhagen FAIL

Reported yesterday:

India and China have taken a united stand and walked out of the climate summit as Copenhagen talks fail.

Today's report:

Two years of laborious negotiations on a climate agreement ended Friday with a political deal brokered by President Barack Obama with China and other emerging powers

What actually happened?

Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh and China premier Wen Jiabao walked out of the summit along with their respective delegations

Obama wound up talking with 3rd-level flunkies.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T, nope.

But, but....MJS headline:

OBAMA BROKERS CLIMATE DEAL! Small print indicates it ain't "all that".

But hey, no bias here. Just move along.

Copenhagen has failed. The UN has failed to address the most important crisis in human history. This is now the time for sanctions, boycotts and embargoes. A new alliance is needed. An alliance of hope and peace and justice must be built to oppose the axis of pollution, extinction and self destruction.

Serious as a boot to the head. What other options are there at this point?

Here's an option for you....how about if we stop and regroup to look at the REAL data, rather than data that appears as though it may have been massaged (of course, we can't know either way because the raw data isn't there). Then, let's make this about reality, not about punishing the "evil" oil companies who make less profit as a function of sales than Starbucks. Windmills and solar panels cannot supply all our energy needs without sacrificing living standards. We should be looking at nuclear.

Last, this isn't bout "the most important crisis in human history". You've been suckered. It's about making guys like Al Gore and Jeff Immelt rich and the rest of us impoverished. Taking from the free and giving to the corrupt.

One other thing:

After looking at the REAL data, it seems reasonable to grant that the temperature range shown between 1000-1900 AD is a reasonable range.

Humanity survived the warm AND cold in that period.

So leave things alone. CO2 is NOT the villain--at least not in and of itself, as the ~1000AD warm period was not fueled by Boeing 747's.
