Safe Parking for Women

An emailer tells me that the Mall of America, cognizant of safety problems in parking lots, has added a "women's only" lot. It's staffed entirely by women, too...and only women may park there.

Here's a pic:

  1. Heh. I hate parking. Mall lots are the worst.

  2. Oh boy! I think Mrs. Dad29 may have something to say about this...

I hope you have the guns well secured, Dad!

  3. You don't see a problem posting this so soon after complaining that people are mistreating Palin because she is a woman?

  4. Unlike you, Jay, I have a sense of humor--as does Amy.

  5. So why is it that implying that women cannot drive or park is a joke (because you "have a sense of humor") but suggesting that Sarah Palin is a power-abusing, earmark-grubbing, opportunist is sexist?

  6. Yeah, Jay - it's a joke. I'll give you a ride sometime and you can judge for yourself. I'm horrible at right-hand turns.

But that doesn't surprise me. A liberal without a sense of humor.

If you need to to be explained to you, it's not worth it.

  8. Since Amy has the appropriate (and spot-on) response, Jay, I will not add to it.

NOTE: Amy is a WOMAN. I am a MAN. HER response is perfect.

    No sexism here, Jay.

  9. Nope, no sexism in perpetuating a stereotype that women are bad drivers.

  10. Looks more like a "liberals only" lot to me.

  11. Amy, shall we say, is unique, and an example of why "jokes" like this work for some.

Yeah, I'm "unique". I'm a conservative female who has no problem laughing at her foibles.

Tell me, kr - when you register as a Democrat, do they surgically remove your sense of humor then, or do you have to make a special appointment?

I smell some East Side Elitism, KRSureWould.

Care to elaborate on your sexist remark?

  14. Salon feels its readers deserve the unadulterated truth. Though no tape of McCain's quip has yet emerged, this is what he reportedly said:

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
Because her father is Janet Reno."

From the article. So where's the proof?

I'm not taking anything written in Salon at face value.

Guess you approve of sexist remarks leveled at conservative women, John.

  15. Oh, goody!
I took classes at the world-famous Second City in Chicago so I could offer my services in such a situation as this:

[Stands up in front of class, pulls out homework.]

You see, there's a stereotype out there that women are bad drivers.

Stereotypes are foolish, as everyone knows.

So this photo REINFORCES the foolishness and absurdity of the "Bad Woman Driver Stereotype", on a grand scale! You see, they ALL crashed into each other! In a HUGE parking lot! At a MALL! (LOL - women do love to shop, don't they? LOL. LOL.)

    Eh? Eh?

It's FUNNY precisely because it MOCKS the stereotype that one could actually be a bad driver simply because she is a she.

I knew those classes would come in handy someday.
