Jay Weber: Here Are the Facts

Jay Weber, a local radioguy, wants to keep some uncomfortable facts out of the light.

So here they are:

• Unlike in the general population, more males than females were allegedly [abused]. In fact, there was a significant difference between genders, with four out of five alleged victims being male.

• The majority of alleged victims were post-pubescent, with only a small percentage of priests receiving allegations of abusing young children.

Translation: this is NOT "pedophilia," it is EPHEBOPHILA--and 80% of the attacks were homosexual.

Thought we'd be helpful, Jay.

I heard Mr. Weber abruptly cut off the caller who was headed in the direction of truth with, "I'm going to let you go because I know where you're headed with this." I was shocked. I guess I shouldn't have been. One would think, given the outrage over the scandal, that truth seeking would be necessary to its never happening again. As long as political correctness trumps the truth, I see little hope for an honest resolution to the problem—perhaps because more than a few bishops would be without jobs.

One suspects that Weber was given some talking point "go/no go" advice earlier--not necessarily by station management, either.

He tends to be fact-challenged now and then.

Weber isn't fact-challenged. You people care. Poor reasoning and bigotry have been demonstrated here. Homosexuality is not a perversion. Pedophilia and other philias are perversions.

Not a single hierarch has resigned for his sinful actions in transferring pervert clergy, covering up sexual abuse, and intimidating victims. Bernard Law, of course, resigned but got a basilica in Rome and a hefty monthly stipend as his reward. It's long past due that Catholicism affirm the inherent goodness of homosexuality, a sexuality that is God-given. To do otherwise is to spit in the face of God.

Although I am not gay/homosexual, I welcome gay folks as friends, as fellow children of God our Creator. Again, to state that homosexuality is a perversion is to state, in effect, that God didn't know what he was doing in his act of creating. Such a belief is blasphemy to the core. Rome teaches that homosexuality is a "disorder," not a perversion. More and more Catholics, however, are refuting this belief as obsolete in light of greater knowledge being acquired about human sexuality. In similar fashion, one could say that a hurricane or earthquake is a natural "disorder." In fact, such natural occurrences are part and parcel of God's creation, and we know from the Book of Genesis that God looked about at his creation and saw it as good, not bad, not a disorder.

Why are some people born with a minority gender preference? We don't know, but such a preference is innate, not chosen. We may choose specific behaviors, but we do not choose our sexual orientation. The latter is God-given and, thus, sacred. We do, indeed, spit in God's face when we mock his creation.

Today, especially, with a better educated and informed laity, the ordained --- priest, bishop and pope alike --- no longer have a monopoly on learning and knowledge. I have a BA degree in Political Science and History as well as a MA degree in Human Resources Development and Management. I am here to try to educate and inform you. Come to hear these and other words of illumination at Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam though I may not have time tonight. So many blogs. So little time.

Offhand, Joe, I think your mind is disordered.

First off, nobody here said "Homosexuality is not a perversion.

I happen to agree with the Church that the condition is a "grave disorder."

Nobody here is arguing that a large number of Bishops (many of whom were also homosexual) are innocent of their coverups, their lies, and their protection of the criminal priests.

Nobody argued that "homosexuality is chosen;" on the other hand, Joe, there is not a shred of peer-reviewed evidence that it is "genetic." Not a shred.

And your assumption that nobody here knows homosexuals, or that we are not friendly with them, is simply wrong.

An MA in HR does not make one a shrink, nor a psychologist. It makes one reasonably comparable to someone with 10 years' practice in HR. No more.

Nor does it make you "intelligent and well-informed."

We have the Internet for information, and a good understanding of human nature.

Illuminate elsewhere, Joe.

Or you could try to learn things.

Where to start... Poor Joe: so much ranting, so little reason. For example:

...we know from the Book of Genesis that God looked about at his creation and saw it as good, not bad, not a disorder.

One might want to read on a bit further. You know... the part where Original Sin enters the picture and sort of changes the whole equation. That would be a good start. In Joe's world, however, everything is OK because it's "God-given." [It's long past due that Catholicism affirm the inherent goodness of homosexuality, a sexuality that is God-given. To do otherwise is to spit in the face of God.]

When we start hearing words like "affirm" and banging up against concepts like "the inherent goodness of homosexuality," we pretty much know that we're dealing with someone who has abandoned reason as a problem-solving tool.
