He's a hack racist statist.

So your defense of him is nice, but utterly irrelevant.Dad29https://www.blogger.com/profile/08554276286736923821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12897315.post-14112381832772206972012-03-08T23:13:51.791-06:002012-03-08T23:13:51.791-06:00Fund is shamefully misconstruing Holders remarks. ...Fund is shamefully misconstruing Holders remarks. You can watch the discussion starting at the 45 minute point

can't actually imagine a time in which the need for more diversity would ever cease.

The discussion here was about the value and need for diversity. He was NOT suggesting that there would never be a time where affirmative action would "ever cease." He was saying there would always be a value in and need for diversity.

The question is not when does it end, but when does it begin.

This line was in regards to Justice O'Connor in the Gruder case asking "when does [affirmative action] end". Holder says the question is "where does it begin" as in when do we start the clock for when the movement starts when considering how long is enough time for affirmative action to be fully realized. The clock didn't begin with the end of slavery or the end of segregation. So "when did the effort start" is very relevant to "when will it end".

When do people of color truly get the benefits to which they are entitled?

This is the WORST. It's actually an inaccurate quote...it is NOT what Holder said. He actually said regarding the effort to rectify unfair racial practices:

"We are dealing with a relatively small period of time in which African Americans, other people of color have truly had the benefits to which they are entitled." That is, the benefits of full citizenship to which ALL people are entitled. He's not talking about affirmative action.

I find Fund as a conservative relatively sane, but this column is very dishonest. But I understand it is grist for you Holder haters.Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10004209843701697773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12897315.post-13000856019915142002012-03-08T18:21:20.894-06:002012-03-08T18:21:20.894-06:00Buy more ammo.Buy more ammo.Beer, Bicycles and the VRWChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08976779901265528597noreply@blogger.com
