If The Donald Had Common Sense.....

The Nooooo Yaaaaawk Values are coming through like perspiration odor.

If @RepMarkMeadows, @Jim_Jordan and @Raul_Labrador would get on board we would have both great healthcare and massive tax cuts & reform.
— Donald J. Trump

Screw yourself, Donald.

The Lying Obozo and His Criminal Appointments

We all know that Ms. Farkas--who needs a criminal lawyer--was trying to move protected information to her Democrat staffer-pals on the Hill.

ZeroHedge asks a REALLY good question:

...Aside from what appears to be a brazen confirmation of spying on the Trump team, the bigger red flag here is Dr. Farkas wasn't employed by the Obama administration at the time the Russian allegations arose.

According to Pentagon records, Dr. Farkas resigned in September of 2015.

So how did this non-resident fellow at the Atlantic Council, member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and former deputy assistant secretary of defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, gain knowledge of intelligence regarding members of Trump's team and their relations with Russia, when she was the senior foreign policy advisor for Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton?...

That's a deliberately Stupid Question.

It's no longer "Lock Her Up!!!" (which Trump will not do, by the way.)  It's "Lock ALL of Them Up."

Yah, we may have to build a new prison.  Or we could just put them in Gitmo.

Ryan, the Lay-Down "Leader"

Think Paul Ryan wants to de-fund Murder, Inc.?

Think again.

Funding the Baby-Killers is Ryan's revenge for the Conservative revolt against his ill-conceived, complex, and silly "healthcare" plan.

Well, we know what Ryan's priorities are:  D.C. first, all the rest take the hind...

Marquette U Sends Love & KIsses (and $$$) to Communist

Ah, yes, Marquette University!  Now presenting (with their unabashed love and kisses), Angela Davis!!

...The lecture is part of a series of "inclusive conversations" the school is hosting in order to confront the challenges of racial inequality. "As a Catholic, Jesuit university committed to social justice," the university's website reads, "we seek to energize our campus and engage all Milwaukee's communities by asking, 'What is your freedom dream now?'"...

For those of you who understand that no Communist can have a 'freedom dream,' nor can any Communist have a 'commitment to social justice', well, yes, that's true.  But the Jesuits--who are, in this case, useful idiots--don't understand Catholic social justice, which is the antithesis of Communist 'social justice.'

Parenthetically, the cited link at the Examiner rattles on and on about 'anti-capitalism.'  Well and good, but that's about 15th on a list of 3 concerns with Ms. Davis.

As a Matter of Fact, Obozo WAS Spying on Trump

There are plenty of stories on this in today's NON-fake-news feeds.

Here's one.

We also saw an item a few days ago naming John McCain as one of the 'leakers.'  Well, maybe.  But the fact that a DOD muckety-muck was leaking to Congress lends a bit more cred to that report.  After all, McCain ain't called "Bomb-Bomb" for nothing.

Trump's Pretty Good Question

The Donald, fresh from assisting a continuation of ObozoCare through his complete incompetence and not-really-giving-a-shit "leadership," rebounds with a pretty good question:

Why isn't the House Intelligence Committee looking into the Bill & Hillary deal that allowed big Uranium to go to Russia, Russian speech, money to Bill, the Hillary Russian "reset," praise of Russia by Hillary, or Podesta Russian Company.

Uh-huh.

Here's a BETTER question, Donald:  why isn't your personal Department of Justice moving to put Hillary into Federal prison for her egregious criminal acts with her email?

Hmmmmm?

I'll tell you why:  The Donald wants others to take the blame for failures on his part.  Simple, doh.  And there's another reason:  to The Donald, Hillary is Too Big To Jail.  IOW, the honor-among-thieves theory is operative with these two.

"Conservatives Brought the End of the World!!" says Jay Weber

See, it was the Conservatives who caused the Republicans to lose Congress in 2018, leaving Trump with Democrat majorities, and since Trump is a lefty (says Jay) well, it's TEOTWAWKI.

Not the lying of the Speaker, whose bill did NOT "repeal" Obozocare.  Whose bill did NOT 'improve' health care.  Whose bill did not remove "must-have" coverage like pregnancy coverage for men.  Whose bill was a laughingstock long before he brought it out of his Ultra-Super-Secret Vault.  Whose bill effectively raised rates.

Nah, not The Speaker's fault.

Not the lying President who endorsed a bill which did NOT "repeal" Obozocare; whose grasp of the policy was so shaky that he was laughed at; who told The Speaker to ram the bill through Congress before it had been sold in even a preliminary sense.

No.  It was "the Conservatives."

OK, Jay.  I'm sure that Paul Ryan will give good interview as a return favor.  Now you can get off your knees.

But let's let Phil Klein--who is no Conservative knee-pad guy--'splain a little, too.

...House conservatives, if they could be blamed for anything, it's for having the audacity to urge leadership to actually honor seven years of pledges to voters to repeal Obamacare. If anybody was moving the goal posts, it wasn't Freedom Caucusers, it was those who were trying to sell a bill that kept much of Obamacare's regulatory architecture in place as a free market repeal and replace plan....

...What's so utterly disgraceful, is not just that Republicans failed so miserably, but that they barely tried, raising questions about whether they ever actually wanted to repeal Obamacare in the first place....

A very good question, raised again this morning by a Texas congressman.   Face it, Jay (and all the rest of you RadioMouths)--Ryan is a creature of DC.  To him, all the world's problems MUST be solved in DC.  The States?  Who cares??

Is Charlie Still Stuck in the Past?

A few days ago, the House intel chairman let us know that, in FACT, Trump had been "wiretapped."

Regardless, Charlie Sykes continues to state that Trump is lying.

...Trump supporters’ scant faith in institutions, actively encouraged by Trump himself, makes them skeptical of the people who have called him out on the wiretapping lie: news outlets, Democratic leaders, even law enforcement....

One could parse the terms, of course, as perhaps Charlie is doing.  Was he "wiretapped"?  No.  The term was used as a substitute for "surveilled," which includes all electronic and telephonic tracing.  Was Trump a target?  Probably not (but then, this was Obozo....).  More likely some of Trump's advisers were speaking with Russians (RUN!!  HIDE!!) and thus were recorded.  Are contacts with Russians illegal in and of themselves?  Nope.  Did a member of Obozo's regime commit a crime against the Espionage Act by releasing Flynn's name to the public?  Yup.  (But Charlie doesn't care about that, you see.)

Are NeverTrumpers becoming as unhinged as (D) 'leadership'?

We report.  You decide.

Do The Russians Own John Podesta??

Well, yes, it's a "RUSSIANS!!!!" story.  But it's not Trump & Co. this time.

It's Podesta, who was Hillary's campaign manager.

John Podesta, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2016 national campaign chairman, may have violated federal law by failing to disclose the receipt of 75,000 shares of stock from a Kremlin-financed company when he joined the Obama White House in 2014, according to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group....

...When Podesta announced his departure from the Joule board in January 2014 to become President Obama’s special counsellor, the company officially issued him 75,000 common shares of stock.
The Schedule B section of the federal government’s form 278 which — requires financial disclosures for government officials — required Podesta to “report any purchase, sale or exchange by you, your spouse, or dependent children…of any property, stocks, bonds, commodity futures and other securities when the amount of the transaction exceeded $1,000.”

Podesta’s form 278 Schedule B is blank regarding his receipt of any stock from any company....

He may try the "I forgot" trick.  More likely he'll try to ignore it, as will the MFM.  But just so you know:  The Bear and Podesta share a bed.

"Boom-Boom" McCain and Senility

McCain seems to think that he is really the SecState.

It's rumored, by the way, that McCain is the leaker of intel on Trump & Co.

"Kill the Freedom Caucus!!" Really?

Oh, there's plenty of ink and pixels being spilled about How Awful The Freedom Caucus Really Is, and How the Freedom Caucus Will Kill America and Did the Freedom Caucus Assassinate Paul Ryan? and all that stuff.

But there is another--far more honest--side to those stories.  You can read it here....

Did Paul Ryan really say that 'ObamaCare must be fully repealed' in his "Better Way" docu-drama?

Did McConnell really promise to make sure that 'ObamaCare must be repealed, root and branch'?

Does any (R) boob in Congress understand insurance economics 101?  (Not really.)

So let's get something straight:  Paul Ryan came up with a half-baked plan that would not work and tried to ram it down the throats of House members, some of whom knew that Ryan was dealing from the bottom of the deck.

Makes NO difference that The Donald ordered Ryan to try this; Ryan should have had the balls and the smarts to say "No, that won't work."  But he didn't.  And Trump, who is every bit the Medical Socialist, got his ass handed to him,  Deservedly so.

when all Republicans running for office ran incessant ads during the past four election cycles promising to fully repeal Obamacare, Meadows actually thought they meant it! What a fool. When Mitch McConnell promised to repeal Obamacare “root and branch,” Meadows actually thought that he meant … well … root and branch.
And when Mr. Meadows read the fifth sentence of Speaker Paul Ryan’s “Better Way to Fix Health Care,” which declared, "Obamacare must be fully repealed so we can start over and take a new approach,” well, he though it meant full repeal, starting over, and a new approach.
Meadows, along with a few of his compatriots, didn’t seem to get the memo: that this was all a joke.

Did Screwtape Really Say This??

Ran across this Screwtape quotation today:

"The bad news, my dear Wormwood, is that the Christian leaders have decided to encourage their people to become more familiar with the pestilential Enemy propaganda known as The Bible. But all is not lost ... far from it! Our policy is now to work through the soi disant 'liturgical experts', whom we already have securely under our control. They will be easily persuaded to increase the amount of time reading the Bible in Church, while eviscerating the text of passages and ideas which we will convince them are 'difficult'. Thus any teaching which is not currently popular among a certain narrow portion of the intelligentsia in the 1960s will be carefully concealed. The next stage, which we have scheduled for the beginning of the Third Millennium, will be to use the dominant ideologues to promote the notion that the portions of Scripture which have been censored out of public use contain ideas which it is actually forbidden for Christians accept. We will then stir up particular, easily duped, constituencies (our planning department has the German and English episcopates particularly in mind) to demand peremptorily the elimination of these ideas from any public prayers".

One doubting its authenticity can point to the red-letter text above.  Clearly, Screwtape would have told Wormwood that the US episcopate was among the 'easily duped'.

Therefore, Fr. Hunwicke's source should be reprimanded.

We're Number Six!! (???)

Most of you saw the "Top Five" list:  New Mexico, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Nevada.

Yah, well, Wisconsin was Number Six (2014 rankings).  Somehow, the local press missed that.

Sixty-four percent of the babies born in Wisconsin in 2014 were Medicaid babies.

Actually, we were tied with Mississippi and Nevada at 64%.

With Doyle gone, however, we may never get to #1, or even #2.

How to Handle the "Anti-Fascist" Types

Found at the VoxPop site:

Seems that a pro-Trump rally was being held in Southern California and this twit-"anti-fascist" showed up to protest the Trump-ites.

Bad move.  The 'antifa' was also arrested.

USCCB vs. Vatican II (and History)

We've had more than a few questions about the USCCB (Conference of Catholic Bishops), mostly because it is exactly what its founder, (Cdl.) Jos. Bernardin, wanted it to be:  a disruptive influence between Rome and US Catholics.  It's also an expensive venture, by the way--and Pope Benedict XVI had not-subtly suggested that "Bishops' Conferences" should be trash-canned.

Well, USCCB, like any bureaucracy, will survive just like cockroaches, and yes, that analogy is intentional.

Bernardin's dreams continue to bear fruit, too!!

[W]hile debating an atheist via an internet list site....[we were] discussing the historicity of the Resurrection. Attempting to rebut my use of the Gospel of Matthew as a historical book written by an eyewitness to relevant events, the atheist cited an authority to show that I, a Catholic, could not use Matthew as a reliable historical source written by an eyewitness. What was his authoritative source?  Was it some scholar-atheist? No. Was is some wacko, liberal protestant theologian? No. It was none of above. No, the atheist had cited an article found on the website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).  To be more specific, he provided a link to the bishops’ introduction to the Gospel of Matthew

To put it bluntly, the USCCB website is full of s*&^.  The author (at the link) demolishes that assertion six ways from Sunday, along with the companion assertion that the Gospel of Mark PRECEDED the Gospel of Matthew--also found at the Milorganite-laden USCCB site.

It would be nice, I suppose, to have some  US Bishop take a look at the US Bishop's very own website and--I dunno--assure that the website is orthodox, maybe??

Benedict's idea was the better one, of course.  Demolish USCCB, not just the website.  But cockroaches are notorious for good reason, particularly if there is no corragio midst the Bishops.  And there ain't.

The Future in D.C.

A few pundits are suggesting that Paul Ryan is on the outbound path from his Speaker slot.  Others suggest that The Donald's big programs (tax reform, slashing Gummint, The Wall, solid judicial appointments) are on the ropes and may not survive.

Pish posh.

Ryan will continue as Speaker unless he decides that he does not want the job.  The Donald will get some sort of tax reform/reduction through, and The Wall will be at least partially built.  And Gummint reform, along with judicial appointments will be just fine.

What will change?  Packaging.

More to follow.

So How Dead Is the Health-Deal?

A couple of bloggers have very different opinions on today's outcome.

President Donald Trump faces three irreconcilable factions: the GOP establishment, conservatives, and Democrats. ... The most difficult faction to deal with is the Republican establishment — not because they are politically strong, but because on policy issues like health care, they are convinced that they have all the answers and that Trump just does not understand.

So he let them make the first move... and he exposed two things about them: first, that they had not come up with a plan that was ready for prime time; second, that they had not done any of the political legwork necessary to sell their plan to voters.

No doubt about that.

...Trump will not make the next move. He will let the conservatives move first. They are the big winners in the first round — much more so than the Democrats, who are enjoying the spectacle of Republican dysfunction but have no role to play yet.

The conservatives will proceed with their demand for a full repeal of Obamacare. And then they will face the ire of voters who are deeply unhappy with Obamacare but upset about losing the paltry, expensive health insurance they currently have.  That, too, will strengthen Trump...

So?

...Trump will turn to the moderate Democrats and offer them a deal — perhaps catastrophic health coverage in exchange for repealing Obamacare....

Hmmmmmm.

A different look at it came from Owen.

...Obama won. Obamacare is here to stay. Our nation is worse off for it.

The first scenario has plausibility, with one yuuuuuuge concern:  where does one find a "moderate Democrat"?  If Trump can't find any of them--and he may not--Owen's end-game is on until the collapse of the economy.

Then along comes Grim.

...Hopefully the Trump administration learned that Congress is a co-equal branch that can't be just ordered to support a policy whether it makes sense or not. Failing that, hopefully at least Congress learned that about itself today.

They can take their time and get it right, or they can just repeal O-care with a one-year delay to give time for alternative solutions appear, either at the state level or from the market itself. Or they can do nothing and hope it all falls apart someday on its own, which would still be better than this. Under the circumstances, killing this bill was the best idea
.

Here's the thing.  Ryan just could not bring himself to take away all the benefit-mandates.  Creating the catastrophic plan and dumping the rest is a great option (albeit easier said than done.)  But it seems that nobody wanted to try it.

Well, maybe now they'll have a chance.  The Bill is Dead.

Trump Goes Ballistic.

Had to happen sooner or later; Trump acting like a real estate developer!

Budget Director Mick Mulvaney has just laid down a gauntlet to House Republicans on behalf of President Trump: pass this bill, or Obamacare remains in place.

So.

What we learn here is that it is actually "TrumpCare"; Ryan was merely a temporary custodian.  And what we also learn?  One can be 70 years old and still throw tantrums.

What happens if actual Conservatives win and this steaming pile does NOT pass?  Will Trump veto a better bill?  Hmmmmmm?????

TrumpTap Started Two Years Ago

It is clear that The Establishment is composed of both (R) and (D) slimebuckets.

The same day House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes gave a press conference disclosing that President Trump had been under "incidental surveillance," Attorney and FreedomWatch Chairman, Larry Klayman, sent a letter to the House Committee on Intelligence imploring them to pursue the claims and evidence presented under oath at a Washington DC FBI Field Office by his client - CIA / NSA Whistleblower Dennis Montgomery - who Klayman claims "holds the keys to disproving the false claims...   ...that there is no evidence that the president and his men were wiretapped"...

Grassley, the Corn-A-Hole King, blew this guy off.  Later on, Nunes blew off Larry Klayman, who was trying to get Nunes to pay attention.

Obozo's criminal capos Brennan and Clapper also ordered up surveillance on Justice Roberts (SCOTUS), 150+ other judges, and a boatload of big-name business types.

Lying Sack of S*** to Trump: "Don't Lie"

Early in the year, but easily a nominee for "Chutzpah of the Year" from this old, discredited, broad.

Susan Rice.  Yah.

Yup. ObozoBozos Were Spying on Trump & Co.

There was really never any doubt.  But now we know that there is a LOT of criminal activity with name-releases--and very, very, very vague, or non-existent, reason for running the spy-op.

Frank Talk

It's hard to find something here which screams "wrong!!" but not to worry.  The feminazis (whether with or without a penis) will scream.

...The most important country in Europe is ruled by a barren old woman, who started out in life as a communist. The most masculine politician in France is Marie Le Pen. Germany’s opposition party is led by a mousy little wood nymph named Frauke Petry. Even the Brits turned to a woman to lead them out of Europe after the Bexit vote and the collapse of Cameron’s government. The West is now a matriarchy.

Look at the reaction to Donald Trump among the ruling class of the United States. He is detested, mostly by upper class women. Their reason is he has a penis and enjoys using it. As a comparison, Le Pen’s support is lowest among upper middle-class women in France. Sweden, which now runs on the principles of the womyn’s studies department at your local university, is also  the poster child for immigration restriction. The broads in charge of that country have destroyed at least two of their cities with Muslim migrants.

The fact, men and women are different cognitively and well as physiologically. This is not just old school male chauvinism. It is solid science. Women like drama and emotional theater. They also like the idea of the alpha male coming to their rescue. Put women in charge of a country and they will set about creating danger and chaos so that the males will come rescue them. That’s where the swarthy rapists from the south come in. Europe and America settled their differences and ran out of dragons to slay, so the gals created new one in the form of Muslim lunatics imported into the West.

The trouble is the men of the political class are mostly pussies. Look at the men in positions of authority in the West. Barak Obama was a wigger dork. Paul Ryan is a ridiculous pussy, afraid of his own shadow. The males in Western politics are effeminate, fragile people, who spent their youth in the library. There are no tough guys, former soldiers or adventurers in Western politics. It’s all power-skirts and the men who secretly wish to dress like them. The result is the female side is creating drama and the male side is sobbing in the corner, promising to hold the camera steady....

By the way, Mitch McConnell is another pussy.

Khizr Khan: Just Another Bullshit Artist

Oh yes!!  As I recall, he's a lawyer

And yes, there's a provision in the Koran whereby good Muzzies can flat-out lie about things.

So there.

Pp. Francis on Aborto-Politicians

Well, he's a lot tougher than US Cardinals and Bishops!  In this snippet, the Bishop-Secretary of the Chilean [Catholic Bishops' conference] relates the action:

So [Pp. Francis] also raised the Chilean bishops and spoke especially of Catholic politicians who vote in favor of the laws that legalize it:

"He insisted that they can not [be given] communion and that they [the Bishops] must help them not to continue committing sin.

On the question of abortion, this Pope has been unswerving and very orthodox, indeed.  We live in interesting times.

Podesta's Very Bad, Nasty, Corrupt, Russian "Friends"

When talking about "Russian influences" in US politics, let's not forget Podesta's Russian-mob & Putin-esque clients and co-investors.

.....who, by the way, are probably corporate spies, too....

Trumptantrum!!

Seems that The Donald is now threatening House members (only of the R persuasion) that if they don't vote for RinoCare, he'll drop-kick them out of office.

(Did anybody tell The Donald that RynoCare does NOT "repeal" ObozoCare, by the way??  We'd hate to think that The Donald is lying like a rug, but.....)

Anyhow, McConnell has joined the Trumptantrum!! crowd, threatening (R) Senators who vote against this seriously flawed plan.

We knew that sooner or later we'd have problems with Trump.  As it turns out, it's sooner.

All Obama-ites. One Is a Federal Criminal.

Gowdy got Comey to confirm that there are only three people who could have committed the federal crime (espionage violation) of revealing Flynn's name.

...former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch...

Find the criminal and throw away tbe key.

RinoCare Jackassery

Texas Public Policy foundation lists 10 flaws in the RinoCare proposal.

The one which should embarrass any actual, thinking, (R) adult?

...Notwithstanding some important structural changes to Medicaid that respect states, the House bill claims to be patient-centered but still denies a 60-year old the ability to opt out of paying for maternity benefits. Supporters of the House bill talk about giving more flexibility to states, but leave all the federal insurance mandates in place...

Really, Speaker Ryan?  REALLY??

Podesta News Outlet? McClatchy

You don't have to read too much of this story fiction to understand who dictated it to the transcription team mentioned at the top.

The difference between this and an NYT fairy tale?  The NYT's are far more subtle.  This stuff is written for 8-year olds.  NYT's usually aimed at college sophomores.

60 Minutes on H-1B: BS. And NML Rapes Its IT People

As you can see by reading this short blogpost, Matloff has serious objections to the 60 Minutes job on H-1B.  As is the case in the MSM, they are running up the "Infosys Bad/Intel Good" flag which Malkin (and Norm) demonstrate is pure BS.

Belling noticed that NML has told its IT people (how many we don't know) that they will be on the street soon--but that if they train their recently-imported replacements, NML will be nicer to them after they are tossed from their offices.

Heartless bastards.

Economic Dog Chases Economic Tail, Enter The Donald

Not only is the dog chasing its tail, the damn dog doesn't eat well, either.  So says Tonelson:

...what Hadas and all the rest continue to miss is how the world trade system, national trade policies, and the trade flows they have fostered have actively fostered in deficit countries like the United States a neglect of productive activities like manufacturing (which is so heavily traded).
Specifically, as Washington in the 1990s and 2000s signed more and more trade agreements structured to encourage multinational companies from all over the world to supply U.S. consumers from locations in super low-cost and virtually unregulated developing countries like China and Mexico, American leaders and other elites (e.g., in the media) naturally sought to rationalize their decisions by spreading the message that sectors of the economy like manufacturing (and the income loss produced by the accelerated offshoring that rippled throughout so much of the Main Street economy) could be neglected with impunity. And the administration of George W. Bush (along with Congress of course) and the Federal Reserve chaired by Alan Greenspan underwrote America’s spendthrift ways with big budget deficits and ultra-low interest rates, respectively

Even worse, these destructive trends fed on themselves. The more offshoring seemed to pay off, and the more domestic manufacturing operations looked like losing — or at least anachronistic — propositions, the less interested financiers became in investing in them. So the amount of productive activity on which to use incoming capital to start with began shriveling. And the less productive activity available to sustain Main Street living standards responsibly (i.e., mainly through earnings), the greater the political establishment needed to prop up those living standards by providing more easy money — at least if it wanted to stay in power while maintaining the offshoring status quo.

The remedy, according to Hadas, is MO' REGULATION!!

...Regulation can do more than strengthen bank capital ratios. It can reform the system, so trade surplus funds are not directed to economically counterproductive uses. That will be tough, both politically and practically. But it should be easier – and will be far more helpful – to solidify finance than to try to change the national characters of Germany or Korea.”...(quoted by Tonelson)

The counter?

But this requirement needs to be accompanied by (at the very least) strong measures to keep out foreign-made goods that benefit from predatory trade practices like dumping, subsidization, and intellectual property theft. Otherwise, foreign competitors will be able to keep undercutting their domestic American competition in the U.S. market, and these new productive investments will fail....

And here's where Trump-ism shows up!

...this is in fact where recognition is needed that the trade problem created by American policy concerns not simply inducements to offshore, but the coddling of protectionism in high income countries like Japan and Germany....

Exactly what The Donald has been saying.  We shall see, eh?

Experts? How About Ding-a-Lings With Letters?

Glenn Reynolds has several good points here....

According to Foreign Affairs magazine, Americans reject the advice of experts so as "to insulate their fragile egos from ever being told they’re wrong.”...

Well, that's not a very good start, is it?  You can almost see the pointy little heads bobbing up and down, agreeing that Ma & Pa Brown-Bagger are just stupid beyond redemption.

Or, in one word, "Deplorable."

Umnnhhh, well,....

...Americans might look back on the last 50 years and say, “What have experts done for us lately?” Not only have the experts failed to deliver on the moon bases and flying cars they promised back in the day, but their track record in general is looking a lot spottier than it was in, say, 1965....

Then there was McNamara's Vietnam, the Kerner Commission's War on Poverty,  the un-foreseen collapse of the Soviet Union, the similarly un-foreseen Brexit, and of course the Cubs' World Series victory.

He also mentions the idiot-gnome Bernanke, who has arguably caused the longest recession in US history, and certainly the greatest one.

Anyhow, the Experts are unhappy with the derision they earned.  Shed a tear for them, eh?

More Premium, But It's Not ObozoCare!!

Lately, Paul Ryan and his local radiomouth supporters have been wall-to-wall with their pleas to support RynoCare, the three-stage not-quite-repeal/replace of ObozoCare.

That's fine.  Happens all the time.

But RynoCare has a problem:  your premiums will go UP--not down--under the Ryan plan.  That's partly due to the pre-existing conditions mandate; but it's also partly due to OTHER coverage mandates and the prohibition of cross-state-boundaries insurance purchases.

One more thing:  Ryan expects that Stages Two and Three will slide down the chute, no problem, presto!

Realists know that there are Democrats and they are subversives.

"Trump/Russia" Stuff: A College Professor's Twaddle

It emerges that all the "Trump & Russia" foofoodust was started by a Clinton-donating college prof in Indiana.

hmmmmm.

It ALSO emerges that the traffic between a Russki bank and Trump servers was generated by "spoofing" the bank's and Trump's machines.

hmmmmm.

Can we add 2+2, or would that be unfair?

Robin Vos, the College Landlord??

A young friend of mine is renting a place in Whitewater, just like thousands of other college students.  It's typical "student rental" housing--a bit ratty, drafty, with decidedly mid-1940's paint, carpeting, and decor--but hey!  Student housing!!

Well, actually, more than a bit--and it's "mouse-y", not ratty.  The chilluns who have rented the place have noticed mouse-droppings all over the joint, especially in the kitchen.

After about 2-3 weeks of unanswered phone messages and emails to the landlord's office, an exterminator finally appeared.  (By this time, the chilluns had spent quite a few bucks on their own traps, poisons, etc.)

My young friend asked for advice on handling this situation and shared the address of the landlord.

Turns out it's the address of Robin Vos' popcorn company.

Perhaps Speaker Vos' business address is being used by someone who actually owns the building?

If not, Mr. Vos should be setting an example of Excellence-In-Landlording, don'cha think??

An Analysis of Newspaper Readers

Cadged, of course!

The Golden State. But It's YOUR Gold

Noteworthy stat:  HALF of California's chilluns are on Medicaid.

I'd be willing to bet that if there were a State of Jefferson, only about 25% (or less) of the chilluns would be on Medicaid.

Even the Criminals Are Snowflakes

These poor, poor, fellows!  Doing the crime, but they just can't do the time.  It hurts their psyche!

..."He was so frustrated saying that they keep locking them down, they just bring their food to their room, he's not able to call anyone. They have to stay in their cells, they can't come out," said May.
We're told the inmates claims of constant confinement as affecting their psyche.

"He's overwhelmed," said May. "He was frustrated; he actually told me he wanted to kill himself."....

There's an explanation for this ludicrous "reporting":  Ted Perry and his chipmunks have a hard-on for David Clarke.  So in The World of Teddy, making a prisoner stay in confinement while IN JAIL is a crime against the Special Criminal Snowflake.  Therefore, you see, Clarke is the criminal.

But that animosity to Clarke is splashing over to the Milwaukee cop-shop, too.  Here we have a news story which is clearly from another galaxy:

Investigators are looking into a police shooting that occurred near 19th and Stark Thursday, March 16th. The man shot and killed by officers has been identified as 32-year-old Jermaine Claybrooks.

Claybrooks' mom has something to say!

..."The police is doing it to cover up their actions. He was not a monster. Yeah, he was a drug dealer but if you check his record he has no violent crimes," said Joan McCants, Jermaine Claybrooks mother....

Oh.  I see.

Shooting at the cops might be considered "violent," but not in a world inhabited by Channel 6.

..."As he was attempting to break the passenger window, the other officer from the driver's side were approaching and somebody hollered out 'gun.' Once somebody hollered out gun, all the other officers retreated backwards. Then you heard a small two pops, a pop and a pop," said Boyd...."Then it sounded like machine gun fire hitting the car. They lit that car up," said Boyd....

Yes, the investigation is just beginning, and it could turn out that the cops just shot up the car (and the really nice young fellow DinDoNuffin) just for target practice.  Uh-huh.

The NSA, Again?

News story:

An unusual amount of highly suspicious cellphone activity in the Washington, D.C., region is fueling concerns that a rogue entity is surveying the communications of numerous individuals, likely including U.S. government officials and foreign diplomats, according to documents viewed by the Washington Free Beacon and conversations with security insiders....

So far, we know nothing that precludes the NSA as 'the rogue entity.'

Big Blue Bummer

Yah, well, it seems that taxpayers have spent about $1 billion on a project led by IBM (Big Blue) and it has not turned out well.

In fact, it's a f'n disaster.

Because of system bugs, shifts between manual and digital processing and other issues, USCIS erroneously issued about 20,000 green cards and granted citizenship to more than 800 people who had previously been ordered deported during the past six months, an auditor found.--quoted at HotAir

So.  In SIX MONTHS these blithering idiots granted full-bore citizenship to EIGHT HUNDRED raving criminals?  Hell, that's 265 more than Congress has.  And it took a lot longer than 6 months to populate Congress...but I digress.

Perhaps CIS officials will issue refunds from their personal accounts?

It's a Feature, Nancy!

Poor ol' Nancy Pelosi.

Pelosi said the budget – which boosts defense, homeland security, veterans affairs and school choice at the expense of the EPA, State Department, and other programs -- fails as a statement of values, but it succeeds as a “deconstruction” of the federal government....

Nowhere is it written that the fedgov is to be large and larger, except in the fever-swamp known as Washington D.C.

You are right, Nancy.  The budget succeeds!!

A "Judicial Coup"? Good Luck With That

We all know that a farce in a black robe in Hawaii has now declared that anyone in the entire world has (US) Constitutional rights.  Hell, those rights extend to anyone in the universe, too, I suppose.

This is what is called a "judicial coup."

I don't think that farces in black robes want to know, personally, the outcome when the rule of law has been overthrown.  They aren't man enough.

Some Bishops Are Just Plain WRONG

Take, for example, Bp. Marcelo Sanchez Sarondo--especially if you are Lutheran!!  You can have him, but it's likely that the Unitarians will out-bid you.

Anyhoooo.

The bishop tasked by Pope Francis with running the Vatican’s organization for promoting science has flipped St. Thomas Aquinas' moral principle of "double effect" on its head, stating in an interview that it means that if the “positive effect [of an action] is greater than the negative effect, then you can do it.” This novel interpretation (at face value, indistinguishable from the moral heresy of consequentialism) just might provide the key to understanding why this bishop has a consistent track record of inviting enemies of the Church to conferences...

The Bp. is a flyweight, intellectually, and as shown later in the linked article, a nasty little bugger with a huge ego (and not much to be egoistic about.)

I Was Going to Stop at MickeyD's Today.....

Notice that is in the past tense??

Seems that McDonald's Corporate, located in Oak Brook, IL., has a problem with the President.  So do I, actually--his single-payer health coverage Communist-o crap bothers me, as does his total disregard for creating un-payable national debt.

But then, I don't sell hamburgers.  Pretty soon, neither will McDonald's.

Bomb-Bomb McCain Goes Looney

The old guy has finally stripped all the gears from his wheel.

Arizona Sen. John McCain said Wednesday that Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is “working” for Russian President Vladimir Putin, after Paul blocked the ratification of a treaty that would enable Montenegro to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization...

Uh-huh.

Just STFU and retire, already, Bomb-Bomb.

Criminal Illegals Arrested, Wailing Ensues

Here ya' go!!  ICE arrests criminal illegals, lawyers and other Wailing Hearts cry.

Here's a thought:  Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

The Sewer of HUD and Its (R) Protectors

This is the kind of crap that wars should be fought over.

Congress has consistently rewarded Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) officials with bigger budgets despite their demonstrated inability to manage tax dollars efficiently...Instead of cutting the department’s funding when it failed each year since 2014 to obtain an audit opinion from its Inspector General (IG), Congress has increased HUD’s budget, to $47.3 billion in 2016....

The Inspector General for HUD is unable to audit the agency at all because its books are such a mess.

There's every reason to suspect that 'the books are a mess' because that's what HUD management wants, by the way.

Anyhow, the REPUBLICAN CONGRESS, led by Paul Ryan, has been feeding these cancers more and more money every year.

...Congress has failed to impose any penalties on HUD, and Republican chairmen of the Senate and House committees that oversee the sprawling department aren’t eager to say why, either failing to respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group’s requests for comment or outright refusing to do so...

Nice.

Like Conspiracy? You'll Love This

Apparently Hillary, the Dep/Dir of the FBI--and his wife--and McAuliffe are just one big happy family.

So the Dep/Dir quashed the Clinton email investigation (along with Comey) while McAuliffe steered near $700 grand into the Dep/Dir wife's campaign spending account.

NOW the Dep/Dir wants to get Trump, any way he can.

There's no Deep State, right?

Trump Goes to War (vs. Gummint!!)

You'll be hearing the sad, teary-eyed stories soon.  NOT of the thousands of Regulatory State twits crying because their jobs have been eliminated; rather, from "victim-citizens" who will all die or go into pure agony because their Regulatory Twits are no longer empowered.  It's likely that those "victims" will be on retainer from Soros and--by the way--their story is likely to be false.  But you'll be seeing them.

White House counsel Don McGahn has assembled a team of elite lawyers with the stated goal of leading Trump Administration efforts to roll back regulatory powers across the U.S. government. The plan of attack, run from the second floor of the West Wing, is designed to take apart what Trump advisor Stephen Bannon has called "the Administrative State," the collection of federal agencies that exists to carry out laws passed by Congress and authorities granted to the President. Trump aides argue that these bureaucracies have become an independent federal power sources...

(Have you ever seen such horrible grammar and composition before in Time?  Egads!)

For the above, HT Grim!!  But there's MORE!!!

...This order is intended to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of the executive branch by directing the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (Director) to propose a plan to reorganize governmental functions and eliminate unnecessary agencies (as defined in section 551(1) of title 5, United States Code), components of agencies, and agency programs....

...d) In developing the proposed plan described in subsection (c) of this section, the Director shall consider, in addition to any other relevant factors:

(i) whether some or all of the functions of an agency, a component, or a program are appropriate for the Federal Government or would be better left to State or local governments or to the private sector through free enterprise;.
..  This from AOSHQ

And--closely related--cutting our UN waste in half.

Well, then.  Let's have the NeverTrump remnants raise their hands because they oppose this, eh??

On the Extraordinary Form (and its Poor Cousin)

One graf from this First Things essay jumps out.

...there exists a close connection between orthodoxy and an appreciation of style.

The vast majority of the faithful have in the meantime never known anything else but the revised Mass in its countless manifestations. They have lost any sense of the spiritual wealth of the Church and in many cases simply are not capable of following the old rite. They should not be criticized on account of this. The Tridentine Mass demands a lifetime of education, and the post-conciliar age is characterized, among other things, by the widespread abandonment of religious instruction. The Catholic religion with its high number of believers has actually become the most unknown religion in the world, especially to its own adherents. While there are many Catholics who feel repelled and offended by the superficiality of the new rite as it is frequently celebrated today, by the odious music, the puritanical kitsch, the trivialization of dogma, and the profane character of new church buildings, the gap that has opened up in the forty years between the traditional rite and the new Mass is very deep, often unbridgeable. The challenge becomes more difficult because one of the peculiarities of the old rite is that it makes itself accessible only slowly—unless the uninitiated newcomer to this ancient pattern of worship is a religious genius. One has never “learned everything there is to learn” about the Roman Rite, because in its very origin and essence this enduring and truly extraordinary form is hermetic, presupposing arcane discipline and rigorous initiation....

I will add that the same is true of Gregorian Chant, in spades.

McMullin Fails Reading 101 and Maturity 001

Cong. Steve King committed Controversy with this tweet:

Wilders understands that culture and demographics are our destiny. We can't restore our civilization with somebody else's babies

Note the word in red.

Now comes McMullin (Egg McMuffin, a failed NeoCon candidate):

GOP Congressman @SteveKingIA promotes the un-American ideas of white nationalism....

One would hope that someone who is as educated as McMullin claims to be can understand the difference between "culture" and "white."  But for review, I'll give Egg a hint:  CULT precedes CULTURE.   He'll have to work it out from there, but he has the time to do so!

McMullin is like the other NeverTrumpers who died on that vine:  so choked with bile that--like their (D) counterparts--they have gone mad-bonkers irrational.

Oh, well.

Ain't Noo Yawk "Our Betters"?

We all know that people in New York, D.C., L.A. and San Fran are our betters.  They tell us that all the time.  So there is no small irony in this announcement:

Prospective teachers in New York will likely no longer have to pass a basic reading and writing literacy exam, the Associated Press is reporting.

They're so damn much better than us that their teachers don't even have to be able to read and write.

Krugman (!!) Makes a Fool of Ryan

The Resurgent caught it:  Paul Krugman shows us that RynoCare is really ObozoCare Lite.

Of course, Krugman may make a fool of Ryan--but Ryan will make fools of the entire country if his load of crap passes.

Unless you're one of the "conservative" radiomouths who kneel at the feet of Ryan, Dan.

But Krugman's yapping aside, there is a lot more serious concern about RynoCare, from far more serious people.

...As I wrote last month, the AHCA creates a steep benefit cliff between those on Medicaid (subsidizing approximately $6,000 per patient per year), and those just above the poverty line who will get tax credits of about $3,000. People just below poverty will be strongly disincentivized to make more money, effectively trapping them in poverty....Avik Roy/Forbes, quoted at HotAir

How about individual insurance plans under RynoCare?

Fuggedaboutit.

...the GOP version of health-care reform doesn’t fix the huge problems that currently exist in the individual market, notably the fact that thanks to Obamacare, in a few years, we might not even have an individual market. (See “community rating” and “guaranteed issue,” and thus the hated mandate, which whacks you with a tax penalty if you don’t buy insurance.) The incentives intended to keep the individual market sustainable were already failing, and the Republican plan weakens them still further....McArdle, same source

I'm sure that Dan Radiomouth will have responses.  He knows better than the Heritage Foundation about the topic of "reconciliation" so there's no doubt that he knows better than Roy and McArdle about these little problems, too.

Flummox the UW-Mad Students? Easy-Peasy!!

Moonbattery found a great one featuring a few of the "best and brightest" at UW-Madistan.

Heh.  Double Heh.

Washington DC Pain the Ass This Morning?

Yes, indeed, it's "Daylight Savings Time" again--another Washington DC mandate which--like most of them--is a pain in the ass and really utterly useless.

Interesting that the original argument for this abomination came from retail merchants who thought they would get more sales dollars if daylight lasted longer.  Typical retail mentality....

More recent is the Big Green "argument" that we will use less electricity because we won't turn on the lights if Sol is operative.

Doesn't work so well in the morning, though--and (surprise!!!) electric utilization hasn't really changed much.

In the end what it is is D.C. screwing with your life.  Just like RynoCare, folks.

HT:  AOSHQ

RynoCare: Wrong Prescription per Dave Brat

Now comes Cong. Dave Brat, an economist by profession, son of an M.D., and the guy who defeated Eric Cantor, who was a liar of the first water.

...Dave Brat told Breitbart News Saturday radio host Matt Boyle that the American Health Care Act bill written by Speaker Paul Ryan (R.-Wis.) is designed to save the insurance companies, not return health insurance and health care delivery to the free market....

...the congressman said it is foolish to attempt a political solution to an economic problem that forces you to accommodate the needs and values of 300 million Americans — such as people in both California and Texas — at the same time....

Here's another part which is bothersome:

...“In the current bill, I’ve asked leadership, budget committee experts: ‘Can a young person go out and buy a health care insurance product of their choosing?’ The answer is no,” he said.

The reason is that the regulations on the insurance companies require certain “essential health care benefits,” so that everyone in the country is forced to buy the same coverage, whether they need it or not,” Brat said....

Whether Paul Ryan likes it or not, every State has an insurance commissioner who makes certain that insurance policies meet certain standards--including coverage.  NO ONE who votes (R), "Conservative", or "Trump" WANTS D.C. DICTATORS ANY MORE.

Brat has other concerns, too.

"I'm Your Boss and I Want Your DNA. Now."

Some deranged woman serving in Congress with an (R) label has a really, really, really dumb idea.

...House Republicans are proposing legislation aimed at making it easier for companies to gather genetic data from workers and their families, including their children, when they collect it as part of a voluntary wellness program.

The bill, the Preserving Employee Wellness Programs Act, introduced by Representative Virginia Foxx...--quoted at HotAir

About time someone sets loose the hounds, I'd say.

But no--this is NOT funny and this woman should be primaried tomorrow.

"Leaving the Kids Behind"

Thank you, Owen, for asking the ONLY question worth asking:

Why would he leave his kids behind?

I have an answer:  so the MSM can wail and snort about the inhumannaziTrumppopulisthaterrrzzz.

That "Reconciliation" Argument? More BS

Many local radio hosts are drowning in love for Paul Ryan, who has lectured them about "reconciliation" and how--because actually DOING WHAT THEY PROMISED would not pass the "reconciliation" test, the Republicans are simply going to ignore their promises and tell you to STFU, lie back, and enjoy it.

Mr. Ryan is full of shit.

But that's OK with the local radio hosts, I guess.   I should add that non-locals such as Eddie in Minneapolis and Hughie in Southern California also drink up this sauce happily.  (They have been reliable stooges for quite some time and do not intend to change.)

Now It's "Cannibal News Network"

Moving from The Left to The Bizarre--which is natural, by the way.

His Lips Were Moving

All you need to know is in this sentence fragment:

A lawyer’s pants burst into flames...

Nosy?  You can read the rest here.

Trump's Real Enemy: McConnell

It appears that the oleaginous and somewhat sweaty senator from Self-Interest Kentucky, McConnell, is Trump's biggest problem.

While Paul Ryan was explaining that being a Member of the House does not entail spending much time working on actual reforms in D.C.--like ya'know, "draining the swamp,"--Ryan did come up with an excuse:

"...we’re doing is we’re going back and getting Obama-era regulations and repealing those regulations and sending that bill to the Senate. We’ve done about 15 here in the house — remember the coal one?”

“How many pieces of legislation have been signed by the president into law?” Carlson asked. “Any?”
“These are very good questions,” Ryan said. “We have the Senate now, they have to approve Donald Trump’s cabinet. They have to put 1,200 people through the Senate to populate the Trump government, and Chuck Schumer can burn up to 30 hours per person.”

...“The real why is how long is because how long it takes to pass things through the Senate.”...

McConnell runs the Senate, just like Harry Reid did.  He can push harder--if he wants to.

Part Two:

...Thursday in an interview with POLITICO Playbook, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) signaled Mexico would not pay for the border wall as President Donald Trump has proposed.
When asked, “Do you believe Mexico will pay for it,” McConnell said, “Uh, no,...

That old fart should be on Trump's radar 24/7.  And he's not done yet!!

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Thursday poured cold water on the Trump administration's goal of completing tax reform by the August recess.

"I think finishing on tax reform will take longer," McConnell said during a Playbook Live interview. ...

Can some horse run this twit over during the Derby?

McConnell, as despicable as he is, is The Iconic Swamp Creature.  Not getting things done?  Look to McConnell.  Squeezing anyone and everyone for "donations"?  Look to McConnell.  Blatantly conspiring to keep D.C. power over every damn thing anyone does?  Look to McConnell.

So, Donald.  Pay attention.

Why D.C. Generals Make Crappy DHS Officials

Somewhere in Homeland "Security" files there may be a copy of the U S Constitution including the Bill of Rights.  We suggest that Gen. Kelly take a very close look at Amendments 9 and 10.

Then he can reverse this horsecrap:

Officials with the Department of Homeland Security are deciding to continue a last-minute Obama administration policy designating state-run election systems as “critical infrastructure,” which gives the federal government new and expansive authority over elections.

Kelly displays typical D.C. Know-It-All-Ism:

...General John Kelly initially told Senators the federal designation “appears to be a political question beyond the scope of DHS’ current legislative cyber mandates.”

But Kelly reversed himself Feb. 7, 2017, telling the House Committee on Homeland Security that, “I would argue that, yes, we should keep that (designation) in place.”...

Well, General, we think you should butt out.

More of "Why Trump": How About the Sucky Economy?

Eberstadt's essay is almost impossible to excerpt; it is too comprehensive.

Nonetheless, a quick overview:

...In fact, things have been going badly wrong in America since the beginning of the 21st century.
It turns out that the year 2000 marks a grim historical milestone of sorts for our nation. For whatever reasons, the Great American Escalator, which had lifted successive generations of Americans to ever higher standards of living and levels of social well-being, broke down around then—and broke down very badly....

Notice that his timeline begins in 2000, NOT in 2008.  That's key, because we all concede that 'financial' recessions such as the one beginning in '08 take a long time to repair.  But this is not a 'financial recession.'  It's worse.

...The reasons for America’s newly fitful and halting macroeconomic performance are still a puzzlement to economists and a subject of considerable contention and debate.1Economists are generally in consensus, however, in one area: They have begun redefining the growth potential of the U.S. economy downwards. The U.S. Congressional Budget Office (CBO), for example, suggests that the “potential growth” rate for the U.S. economy at full employment of factors of production has now dropped below 1.7 percent a year, implying a sustainable long-term annual per capita economic growth rate for America today of well under 1 percent....

One percent!!  Compare that to population growth and you have a yuuuuuuuge jobs deficit.  That shows up in the Employment/Population ratio, which has been deteriorating since 2000.  So:

...In our era of no more than indifferent economic growth, 21st–century America has somehow managed to produce markedly more wealth for its wealthholders even as it provided markedly less work for its workers. And trends for paid hours of work look even worse than the work rates themselves. Between 2000 and 2015, according to the BEA, total paid hours of work in America increased by just 4 percent (as against a 35 percent increase for 1985–2000, the 15-year period immediately preceding this one). Over the 2000–2015 period, however, the adult civilian population rose by almost 18 percent—meaning that paid hours of work per adult civilian have plummeted by a shocking 12 percent thus far in our new American century....

There's a lot more.

So, then:  why Trump?  Why the continuing revolt against The Establishment?  Still asking??

Remembering "Echelon"

Vox prods the memory cells with this post.

...The US government sees fit to eavesdrop on everyone inside and outside the United States with its Echelon system, but unlike a parent trying to raise a child, that level of oversight is necessary. Terrorists, don't you know. Why, without it, we wouldn't have caught bin Laden and prevented the 9/11 attacks...[December 2004]

Now we know that the CIA can be Russki-flavored, can take your car for a ride at the CIA's direction, and lives in your TV set (IIRC, pre-visioned in Orwell's 1984.)

Yet gun sales are declining.

It's Actually "TRUMP-Care"??

At least one well-known pundit thinks that the Ryan offering--a mealy-mouthed Gummint-heavy entitlement program--is the vision of The Donald.

So that leaves "never-Trump" Sykes with a problem:  his very own website "Right Wisconsin" is pushing Trump-Care.

Egads.

"Right" Wisconsin? Or "Ryan" Wisconsin??

The Sykes-site "Right Wisconsin" has apparently given itself to Paul Ryan's propaganda machine.

Paul Ryan is a nice guy, but a fake conservative.

The Flock: Chicago Commies

When Milwaukee's Sherman Park area went up in flames last summer, police chief Flynn attributed the trouble to "Chicago communists."

The torchmen may well have been friends of Valerie Jarrett.

FBI files obtained by the government watchdog group Judicial Watch reveal that the father, maternal grandfather, and father-in-law of President Barack Obama's closest adviser, Valerie Jarrett, "were hardcore Communists under investigation by the U.S. government."...

Obama has more Communist associations than Vlad Putin does.

Hint:  one does not have to have a membership card to be a Commie.....

Fifty-Three Outfits to Avoid

There are 53 companies who prefer that some random guy can enter your daughter's shower room at school.

They are listed at this link.  The usual suspects:  Yahoo, IBM, Shutterstock, Lyft, MS, Etsy, Apple, Amazon...

Just so you know.

Pauly-Girl Version of ObozoCare

I never thought that Paul Ryan would actually fix Obozocare.

And I am not disappointed!!

...If this bill passes, everybody would have to get their insurance either through government, their employer via tax subsidy, or be left to purchase government-designed health policies using federal subsidies....

So how do you like your cyanide?

A Little Chant Singing

A friend who is a musician and who is very familiar with Chant was at a near-western suburb of Milwaukee yesterday for an afternoon EF Mass.

During that Mass, a girls' choir sang the Introit, Offertorium, and Communio.

His thoughts?

The singing was something of a revelation to him--he found that their work revealed the 'song' which is in the Chant; they used rallentando and diminuendo very effectively.

In other words, it was sung as though it were music.

Revolutionary, eh?

The End of the World!! It's BORDER TAX!!!

At one time, the US population was engaged in manufacturing goods which were sold domestically and overseas--assuming the overseas purchasers could afford "Made In America" goods.

That was when the US had near-full employment and a standard of living which rose, every year, without fail (but yes, there were recessionary pauses.)  And when the phrase quoted at the end of this essay was still observed.

Over the last 20 years or so, the Barons of Industry have found that they can export jobs to other countries and import goods from those countries at a very great profit.  This resulted in a lot of US citizens losing their jobs.  It also meant the end of the 'growing standard of living' thing; for about the last decade, growth has damn near stopped.  Not surprisingly, there is a huge under- or un-employed segment of Americans, by some measures around 10%.

Yes, 10%

So when The Donald proposes to turn the export/import numbers upside down, we find "conservatives" screeching like girls and telling us that the end of the world is nigh.

They are not "conservatives," because actual Conservatives understand that work was made for man, not man for work.  Another way to state that:  a government does have an obligation to make certain that its citizens can find good employment.

Want another phrasing?  How about "...insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty..."

Little, if any, of that comes as a fruit of unemployment.

The US has exported enough of its treasure and has spilt more than its share of blood for other countries.  It's payback time.  And if Target and WallyWorld don't know how to handle that, oh, well.  They'll join Kresge and Schuster's.

Mika Clearly Needs a Husband. Too Bad.

Ace thought of the hubby-angle before I did--but I didn't read the story until 2 hours ago.

Clearly, this woman is too fragile to go through life as a single.  Waaaaayyyyyyy too fragile.

Levin Flays the Liars (and the MSM)

Liars....MSM....not that there's much of a difference...but in the case at hand, many of the liars are Deep State and/or Democrat heavies.

On Fox News, he blows away the Comey/Obozo/Clapper bastards and their lackeys, too.

Now Comes Comey. You Remember Him, Right?

Comey, who did/did-not/did/did-not find anything particularly illegal in Hillary's emails, now asks for something from the new A.G.

...James B. Comey, asked the Justice Department this weekend to publicly reject President Trump’s assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trump’s phones...

Obozo's Gummint went to FISA court and asked for taps on Trump's servers, twice.  Nobody thinks that Obozo personally went over to the FISA courtroom.

Jackass.

Levin's Sugar-Daddy Fires Steyn

Well, yes, it's sort of a tempest-teapot thing, but interesting.

Levin is a not-quite-never-Trumper--that is, he, like many others, decided to support Trump ONLY to stop the most corrupt public figure in US history bar none:  Hillary.  Regardless, he does not like much of what brought Trump to the Oval Office.

Anyhoo, Levin found a sugar-daddy named Katz who lost access to his money machine when ObozoCare was passed.  That sugar-daddy funded CRTV, a multi-platform (but not cable) enterprise which also hired Mark Steyn.

And fired him, about 4 weeks later, without having paid him >$100K in fees and expenses.

Hmmmm.

The Catholic Church and Church Music

A well-worded manifesto here, signed by a number of luminaries (and one stone-cold clinker hanger-on).

Yes, they are correct:  it will be today's children and youth who carry the torch of real music; by and large, the adults and senior-citizens are a lost cause.

Known, Egregious, Public Liar Says "No Wiretap"

James Clapper denies the wiretap story.

That comes under the category of "so what?"

What the Hell Happened at UW Oshkosh?

Owen dips into the pool of Milorganite puns, but he can't help it:  the smell from UW-O is pretty strong, even at this distance.

His conclusion is dead-on:

....there isn’t too little money in our UW System – there is too much. There is so much money lying around that officials are literally throwing taxpayer, tuition, and donated money at shitty projects because they can’t think of a better use for it. When resources are truly scarce, things like this don’t happen....

Umnnh.....has any cold-eyed auditor been looking at the books of UW-Whitewater/River Falls/Stout/GreenBay/etc., etc., etc.?

The Russians!!!! The Russians!!!!

Paul Ryan had a brief presser the other day during which he mentioned that House Intel was investigating the "RUSSIANS DID IT!!!!!" bullshit.

Well, fine, Paul.  It's a waste of time and money (something that politicians specialize in) but...

We all know that the Russians, and the Chinese, and the Americans, run propaganda which makes themselves look good.  We all know that the US' "foreign aid" money is basically a purchase-contract executed with co-operative regimes or dictators.  Sometimes those contracts redound to the benefit of the US national interest.  Same can be said for Russki money to Cuba, the old East Bloc, etc., mutatis mutandis.

It's business as usual.

But the rest of the stuff--the harping that THE RUSSIANS "fixed" the election--is pure bullshit.  We all know it.  So does Z-Man:

...the mother of all fake news stories, the entirely fictional Russian Hacking™ scandal. There is nothing about this that passes the laugh test. No one can even explain what it is the Russians supposedly did. No one can explain how Trump people talking to Russians is different from everyone else who regularly talks with Russians. It’s as if the media has been infected with a rage virus. Of course, it’s obvious that the hysteria is part of an orchestrated campaign to undermine Trump.

In other words, it’s all fake....

It's a DC parlor game to keep your eyes off the National Debt.  Or the pizza parlor, or something.

NOT Paid to Post, Folks.

The saying--if I recall correctly--was from Groucho Marx:  "I wouldn't join a club that would have me as a member."

Nor would I take money to post about anything.

But that's not true of ObozoCare propagandists!!

...A majority of online and social media defenders of Obamacare are professionals who are “paid to post,” according to a digital expert.

“Sixty percent of all the posts were made from 100 profiles, posting between the hours of 9 and 5 Pacific Time,” said Michael Brown. “They were paid to post.”.
..--quoted at ZMan's place

The MSM eats up all that BS because MSM people do not like to talk with actual American citizens unless they are Left-O-Wackies.  See, e.g., the JSOnline report on yesterday's Sensenbrenner gabfest.  Two people were interviewed by the "reporter."  Both Left-O-Wackies from Oconomowoc.

All the rest of the people there are probably dirt-people, not pseudo-shrinks nor MD's who do not have a hospital affiliation.  Not worth interviewing, despite the fact that they ELECTED Sensenbrenner by a yuuuuuuuuuuuuge margin about 20 years' running.

Without Evidence, Channel 6 Mouthed Off

Fox6 and its Left-o-Maniac anchor Ted Perry, are not approaching zero on the credibility scale.

Here, they blow the wiretapping story.  Although they changed the headline on the story, (surprise!!) the 'without evidence' line is still there.

...the president isn’t offering any evidence or saying what prompted the allegation....

Bullshit.

...The first [FISA] request, which, sources say, named Trump, was denied back in June, but the second was drawn more narrowly and was granted in October...

That from HeatStreet in NOVEMBER 2016.

Paul Ryan--no fan of Trump's--confirms by evasion.

Maybe Ted should take retirement, like Condella and Pipines.  He can lie all he likes when he's talking to the fishies at some lake up north.

Did Obozo's Boyzzzz Tap Trump? Of Course!

The bullshit MSM 'no evidence' claim found all around the local (D) propaganda outlets such as JSOnline, Fox6, etc. is just that:  BS.  HeatStreet broke the wiretapping story before the election, for crying out loud.

And the Obozo spokespuke emitted a non-denial denial.  Of course, Obozo did not personally order it.  But Loretta Lynch did.  With Obozo's knowledge and implicit blessing.

Fake news.  Wonder how Jerry Bader likes that stuff, eh?

NB:  Tom Cotton is not on board the Trump story--yet.

Obozo Tapped Trump's Phones (!!!?)

The Donald claims that Obozo tapped Trump's phones prior to the election.

What makes Trump think that it was only "prior" to the election?  Why not after, too?

Abp. Paglia's VERY... Odd... Taste in Murals

You can see photos of the mural, including close-ups, at this link.

I use the term "odd" because the other term that comes to mind is pejorative, but you'll think of it, too--almost immediately.

The archbishop now at the helm of the Pontifical Academy for Life paid a homosexual artist to paint a blasphemous homoerotic mural in his cathedral church in 2007. The mural includes an image of the archbishop himself.

The archbishop, Vincenzo Paglia, was also recently appointed by Pope Francis as president of the Pontifical Pope John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family.

The massive mural still covers the opposite side of the facade of the cathedral church of the Diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia. It depicts Jesus carrying nets to heaven filled with naked and semi-nude homosexuals, transsexuals, prostitutes, and drug dealers, jumbled together in erotic interactions....

Aside from the act of commissioning the piece, the Abp. was a little busybody about it.

...Bishop Paglia, along with one Fr. Fabio Leonardis, oversaw every detail of Cinalli’s work, according to Cinalli, who approvingly notes that Paglia never asked him if he believed in the Christian doctrine of salvation. ....“There was no detail that was done freely, at random,” added Cinalli. “Everything was analyzed. Everything was discussed. They never allowed me to work on my own.”...

Odd, eh?

Again With the Massingale!!

We mentioned this failed 'theologian' only a few days ago, and he pops up again.

....At the annual Los Angeles Religious Education Congress (LA REC), Father Bryan Massingale used sections of Pope Francis’ problematic Amoris Laetitia and other papal documents to validate statements saying conscience equates to Church teaching and Catholics shouldn’t be expected to live up to that teaching.

“Conscience is taking a deeper, new self-understanding in our Catholic teaching,” he said. “There is a growing recognition of the limits of moral rules, that is, it’s impossible to give a rule that applies always and everywhere in every situation....

Like killing 6-month old baby, for example.  I'm sure that this failed 'theologian' can find a good excuse for knocking off one of those.  Or maybe raping a 3-year old.  There are good reasons for doing that within the moral law, no doubt.

It used to be considered a grave sin to smack a priest upside the head.  Hmmmmmm?

Right Wisconsin, The Media, and Trump

The essay is apocalyptic.

...Trump can call the New York Times “failing” all he wants, but his attacks have indeed resulted in a spike in subscriptions for the Times. As Trump’s base energizes to support him, the base support of Democrats and the MSM will rally to their defense. So, how does this all end?

One possibility, cooler heads prevail. Given that one of the heads in play is Donald Trump’s, I’d call that the longshot scenario. Another possibility is that there is indeed fire under all that Russian smoke. Trump amping up the attacks on the media will only steel their resolve to get to it. And further attacks on government institutions will only embolden the people who populate them to facilitate the media’s cause.

So how does it all end? Probably the safest prediction? Not well.

Since that was published, the NYTimes printed McCaskill's lies about meeting a Russki--and then 'stealth-edited' their fake news; and the WaPo wrote a story claiming--falsely--that our Attorney General committed perjury in his confirmation hearings.

That's only the last 2 days.

So.  If it ends "not well" for these lying scumbags, oh well.  Too bad, so sad.
