Just How NeoCon Is Scott Walker?

Neumayr excoriates the intellectualoid NeoCon bow-tie crowd.  One interesting graf:

...Notice that the neocons so appalled by Trump’s vulgarity defend the much deeper vulgarity of the elite’s social revolution. Trump is not to their taste. But gay marriage is. That in part explains why a Supreme Court stacked by Hillary doesn’t terrify them very much. They wouldn’t want gay marriage rulings overturned, they feel largely comfortable with the feminist world Roe v. Wade created, and they find the religious-freedom pleas of the Kim Davises tiresome. On many of the hot-button social issues before the court, they agree with Hillary. And on matters of trade, immigration, and war, they feel more kinship with her than with Trump....

While Scott Walker is anti-abortion, he visibly shrugged at the queer-marriage decision, mumbling something about 'the rule of law,' which 'law' happens to be utterly preposterous.

Wisconsin's Highway-Spending Addiction

George Mitchell brings out a few ugly facts about the Doyle/Walker highway-spending machines.

...in the last year of the Thompson-McCallum Administration debt service on highway bonds was $93 million and represented 7% of transportation fund revenue....

...By the time Doyle left office the dollar amount of debt service had more than doubled. As a share of transportation revenue it grew to 11.5% from 7%....

...Under Walker’s proposal the dollar value of debt service would have more than doubled from Doyle’s last year in office. As a share of transportation revenue, debt service would have risen to more than 20% from 11.5%....

(Walker's proposal was NOT adopted, so Gottlieb and Vos want to ram it through this year instead.)

Anyhoo.  Mitchell's analysis points out why it is that DOT has budget troubles:  they are spending 11.5% of their income on debt-service.  That's around $200 million/year, which is one helluvalot of car registration fees, no?

By the way, when Robin Vos can justify the massive DOT spend on Hy. 16 between Oconomowoc and Watertown--which has, perhaps, 500 vehicles/day traveling on it--then we'll give his RoadBuilders pals another $million or so to play with.

AG Lynch Meets Slime Family. Strictly Coincidence.

The current Corruptocrat/Attorney General has been handed a case wherein the party to be indicted will go to Federal prison for wanton and flagrant mis-handling of US Top Secret and Compartmentalized intel--violations which, we remind you, need no mens rea.  It's open-and-shut:  do not pass "go", go directly to prison.

That same Corruptocrat/Attorney General met with the husband of the criminal-in-waiting.

During that hour-long meeting, the AG tells us that they discussed "grandchildren."

Feel like they think you're fools?

One Good Reason to Watch the (R) Convention: Ditka

As I recall, Mike Ditka is a very very very hard-edged conservative kinda guy.  In 2004 he considered running for office and made a speech or two.  They were short and pointed.  He re-considered and dropped out; that was a disaster for the country--it resulted in Obozo becoming a US Senator.

If his appearance at the Trumpkin Convention is anything like his last political foray, you will love it.

I met the guy at his Chicago restaurant twenty-some years ago.  Affable, pleasant, and very professional as a restauranteur and host.

(This post is not authorized nor paid for by the Green Bay Packers.)

Meet Some of the Cronies of Crony Capital!

Nice deal.  They give Hillary a few million dollars, get lots more taxpayer dollars to fund their losing "investments."

...“I met yesterday in Chicago with a big group of clean renewable energy businesses and they’re just ready to go,” [Hillabitch] said at an Iowa campaign stop in November. “But they need some help from the government.”...

...That meeting was in fact a campaign fundraiser at the home of Michael Polsky...The group’s other co-chair is Nicholas Pritzker...Another Clinton bundler, Antonio Gracias, serves as CET’s treasurer...

There's also a tie to Elon Musk, who manufactures cars that set themselves on fire and on which the doors may or may not work--and who cleaned the State of Nevada for Large Cash to build his battery plant there.  Harry Reid (D-Corruption) is Nevada's daddy, and we all know about Chicago people.  And of course, the Podesta brothers are involved, too, lawyering and lobbying.

The US could use a modified version of Brexit to become free of this pestilence.

The Mostest Aptest Comparo Ever!

Gotta love this:

Questions About Orlando Cops' "Response"

Finally, someone raises the question:  why did the Orlando cops sit on their hands?

A less-polite way to phrase it:  Are you really 'heroes'?

No Particular Value in Dick Posner, Either

The relativist "mind" in Chicago pukes out his alleged knowledge.

According to 7th Circuit Judge Richard Posner in a post published to Slate, U.S. judges should stop studying the Constitution.

“I see absolutely no value to a judge of spending decades, years, months, weeks, day, hours, minutes, or seconds studying the Constitution, the history of its enactment, its amendments, and its implementation,” Posner argued.

“Eighteenth-century guys, however smart, could not foresee the culture, technology, etc., of the 21st century,” he continued. “Which means that the original Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the post–Civil War amendments (including the 14th), do not speak to today.”  --quoted at Zippers

The same relativistic logic leads us to declare that there is no particular value in paying attention to a member of the Ruling Class judiciary, Dick.  Smoke that, instead of whatever you're using.

Posner confuses Ruling Class Judiciary interpretations of the Constitution with the actual document (as amended.)  That's not a defensible error; but we'll give him a cigar for understanding that the 14th Amendment does NOT include "birthright citizenship" for anchor babies born here.

On the other hand, he asserts that the Ruling Class judiciary is given the power to 'define common law.'  Wrong.  That was defined several thousand years ago.  It's called "The Ten Commandments," which summarize natural law.  Any popinjay member of the judiciary who rules against that is pissing into the wind which is to say that there is "no particular value" in their dicta.

"Time to Move On", Hillary?

The most notorious female liar in the world, on Benghazi:

"I think it’s pretty clear, it’s time to move on."

Yup.  Let's move on to your trial and incarceration, Hillabitch.

Just Can't Wait

The headline here...why does that produce a cynical laugh?

Judges in Milwaukee Cause Crime

If you think that headline is wrong, just read the report.

...[There is] a pattern of defendants – even felons who have shot at people or are drug dealers – [who bail out quickly on a few thousand dollars (median bail in gun court: $5,000), commit new crimes as their cases languish for months (sometimes very serious ones), defy pretrial supervision rules with little more than a judicial scolding (sometimes repeatedly), and often escape lengthy sentences at the end, with about 40 percent avoiding prison time now (not counting stayed terms)....UW-M student study summary quoted at Right Wisconsin.

The students examined 550 cases over a 9-month period.

Yes, indeed.  Milwaukee judges cause crime.  In fact, one could say that they are co-conspirators.  Now you know why the cops and firemen want to get the Hell out of that town.

Bps. Cupich & Farrell Are Losing Moral Authority

It comes as no surprise that Bps. Cupich (Chicago) and Farrell (Dallas) are calling for a ban on the sale of modern sporting/family defense arms such as the AR platform.  Both have reputations.

It should also come as no surprise to those Bishops that very few members of their flock give a flying fig about their opinions of self- and family-defense, or hunting tools.

Cupich could be addressing the extraordinary murder rate in Chicago; Farrell could be addressing the drug-cartel problems in Texas.

But it's easier to create fake 'morals' problems.

The USCC will be well-advised to remain silent on the matter.

The Usual Suspects Oppose Stepp

Doesn't take long to find the slant and bias in Madison's propaganda-rag "story" on Kathy Stepp's reforms of DNR, does it?  The bugs, bunnies, and bambi crowd runs rampant in Madistan.

DNR has long been used as the Green-Weenie/Radical Left's weapon, just like Obozo's IRS and the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board have been.

Stepp is in territory salted with hostiles.  (It is not co-incidence that DNR staffers wanted to protect a snake).  She's conducting a re-formation of DNR which will fix its very serious staffing problems--and is taking fire for it.  That's the "no good deed goes un-punished" bromide in real life.

In a related story, the Obozo regime has sent its storm troopers into the fray over Stepp's plans for the Baraboo ammo-works property.  The National Park Service's beak should be bashed, and Walker/Stepp are just the people to do it.

Go, Kathy!!

Useful Idiots: Kennedy, Meeks, Delahunt, Penn, and the MSM

The term "useful idiots" was coined by Joe Stalin who used it to classify idiots who were helpful to the Communist cause.  The US has a lot of them, including (at least) one member of the Kennedy family, a current and extremely corrupt member of Congress, and the usual Left Coast rummies like Sean Penn, whose daddy was a card-carrying Commie.

Where's Senator Joe McCarthy when you need him?

Due to the assistance of these chumps--whether simply stupid or greedy--thousands of Venezuelans are now starving, and tens of thousands more WILL be starving soon.

Our MSM doesn't pay any attention to this, of course.  Can you connect the dots there?

US Border Patrol Smuggling Drugs and People

Border Patrol and US military personnel are smuggling drugs and participating in human trafficking.

...it’s people inside Border Patrol and inside the military who have long been involved in smuggling drugs, as well as smuggling humans. They’re well aware of it. They don’t talk about it much but it’s well known inside. I’ll be doing a story in the Fall about corruption inside the Border Patrol which is just out of control. There’s so many agents. The cartels place people inside Border Patrol now, smugglers place people inside Border Patrol get them hired there. It’s a big issue....

That's Sharyl Atkisson, speaking to Breitbart News.

Feds Arming Up. Got Ammo??

You'll never believe which Fed agency bought all this.

...In the space of eight years, the group amassed a stockpile of pistols, shotguns, and semiautomatic rifles, along with ample supplies of ammunition, liquid explosives, gun scopes, and suppressors. In its cache as well are night-vision goggles, gas cannons, plus armored vests, drones, and surveillance equipment. Between 2006 and 2014, this organization spent nearly $4.8 million to arm itself. Yet its aggressive weapons buildup has drawn almost no public attention....--quoted at ColdFury

Not FBI.  Not IRS. Not even the Blue Pandas.

It is the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, an agency of the US Department of Agriculture.

Never know when some farmer might get a bit uppity, right?

Milwaukee's 3rd-Place Increase in % Homicides

2015 was quite a year for Milwaukee.  The city managed to come in 3rd in the country in the % increase of homicides!!

...While Baltimore had the largest increase in absolute numbers, it had the fourth-largest percentage increase.

Homicides in Baltimore jumped by 58.5 percent last year. Cleveland saw a 90.5 percent increase to lead the nation. Nashville, Tenn., was second with 82.9 percent; Milwaukee was third with 72.6 percent.

Washington finished just behind Baltimore, with a 54.3 percent increase....

Chicago didn't make the Top Five.  But there's always next year, as the Cub fans say.

Self-Serving Swine to Vote for Hillary (!!)

Yah, that's old Hank Paulson, of Goldman Sachs, who shoveled your tax dollars into Goldie.

He knows who butters his bread, and it's Hillary.

Birds, feathers, and shitballs.

College: Not for Learning Anymore

A couple of items have appeared over the last few days which add straw's to the seriously-bending camel's back once thought of as "education" <e-ducere, Latin, 'to lead out...' [of ignorance]>

The U of North Carolina's PC Nazis have declared that reference to the "Christmas Holiday" is a micro-aggression, as is referring to 'boys' or 'girls.'

And The Warrior's head explodes over this one:

...According to [U. of Northern Colorado] documents obtained by Heat Street under Colorado’s Open Records Act, a professor asked his students to read The Atlantic’s “The Coddling of the American Mind” (co-authored by FIRE President and CEO Greg Lukianoff). The piece warns that the growing institutionalization of aversion to presenting views that students may find offensive or disagreeable deprives students of the opportunity to confront views they disagree with. The professor engaged students in a discussion about opposing viewpoints on, among other things, transgender issues, prompting one student to file a Bias Incident Report with university administrators....

The University administration actually took the complaint seriously, admonishing the professor for encouraging debate on the Atlantic's essay.

We have long suspected that university "education" is--by and large--a waste of money.  Seeing the day-to-day work-product of many, many college grads is evidence enough, without even delving into their thinking "ability."

But now we know why:  the Administrations are largely brain-dead.

The Globaloney Crowd Head-Explosion

Bayou RenMan has a very solid essay on Brexit which features the most inane and disconnected editorial I've seen on the topic, from the LA Times.

See how One World twits dissemble, smear, and condescend, their bowties quivering with high dudgeon and their keyboards flecked with wine-and-brie-flavored spittle:

...We find ourselves in a moment of global fear. The democratic identities of Britain and the United States are under threat — not from immigrants or even changing values, but from nationalists and xenophobes exploiting citizens' darkest worries with populist projects, including Donald Trump’s campaign for the U.S. presidency and Brexit....http://bayourenaissanceman.blogspot.com/2016/06/brexit-local-and-national-interests.html

... The same people who cheer when Trump laments the decline of American leadership want to ignore key global issues and put “America First.” The people who voted for Brexit, attempting to create a border between Britain and challenges such as the refugee crisis, seem to think Britain can solve such problems without consulting Germany or France or, worst of all to them, Brussels....

... The world doesn’t work that way, and it hasn’t for decades. Ever-increasing globalization has created an unprecedented surge in prosperity, but it has also ushered in jarring changes. The rough edges of those changes can only be overcome with more aggressive cooperation and engagement, not less
....Quoted at RenMan

It is noteworthy that a number of Labor districts (that's the Brit Lefty gang) voted "leave" while their elected member of Parliament was campaigning for "remain."  This is a direct parallel to the significant "Reagan Democrat" support given to Trump.  Thus, HRC v. Trump polling may be skewed.

He Was Not a Queer. He Was A Muzzie.

The Administration's shiny object--that the Orlando Muslim extremist was really a repressed queer--is coming apart at the seams.

They'll be spreading the "economically disadvantaged" shiny object next week.

The MSM Fever Over "Un-Brexit"

You probably noticed that the MSM is all agog over some 'online petition' for a do-over of the Brexit vote.  The teevee people are near breathless in their excitement about the movement.

What MSM does not tell you is that there's almost no there there.  Really?  3+ million on-line names?  There were 17+ million "leave" votes.  We also know that many of those on-line signatures are from OUTSIDE of England. Wouldn't be surprised to find Obozo and his wife among the signatories....

This is how Certain People attempt to Keep (their) Order.  It's called "propaganda".

Chop-Shop Planned Parenthood Wants More $$

Seems like Obozo & Co. want the world's largest human chop-shop to get more taxpayer money.

And the (R) Congress does not agree.

So--as far as Obozo & Co. is concerned--Zika will be spreading into the US.

Nice.  Either you kill off babies, or they get encephaly.  That's the Democrat way.

Paul Ryan Played This One Right

Some websites of the conservative ilk think Paul Ryan should have swept the (D)  sit-down babies off the floor of the House.

We disagree.  Ryan played this one right.  The images perfectly captured the (D) "mind" for all to see.  It was an embarrassment of the first degree.

Nicely done, Paul.

Brexit Echoes

If the Beltway Crowd still doesn't get the TEA Party phenomenon, all they have to do is read today's global headline.

Fifty-two percent of the Brits just told a bunch of pantywaist Elites in a far-off city to take their regulations, taxes, and immigration policies and shove them where the sun never shines.

mmmmmmmmmmmmkay?

Right to Privacy? "Not!!" Says RoJo

It seems that the (R) Senator from Wisconsin doesn't think too much of your privacy rights.

The Senate rejected legislation Wednesday that would allow the FBI to search Americans' Internet browsing histories and email records without a warrant....

...Senators voted 58-38 to advance the legislation, falling two votes short of the 60 votes needed....

Among those voting FOR this was Ron Johnson, who has forgotten entirely that he's there to repeal ObozoCare.

The Ignorance of Bubba Clinton

It's hard to believe that Bubba actually believes his own bullshit.

...In an interview with Bloomberg TV, the former president was asked to respond to Donald Trump's claim that fewer people would have died at the club if they had firearms.

"Did you see how dark it was?" Clinton said. "It's likely that more people would have been killed."...

--quoted at AOSHQ--

Yah, muzzle-flash hides in the dark, you monumental jackass.

There's Nothing the Matter With Kansas

Kansas told Obozo & Co. to put their trannybathroom idea where the sun never shines.

Good on Kansas.

Stupid Gun Owner, Care-Less Employer

One of the first things any responsible gun owner learns is when NOT to use the weapon.  This guy will learn that lesson the hard way.

...Officials say two suspects entered the restaurant and pointed a gun at employees. The suspects then stole money from the safe and fled.

One of the employees followed the suspects and fired shots at them....

That was stupid.  So...

...Police tell FOX6 News the Cousin’s employee who fired in this case will be ordered into the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon....

Yup.

But there's a little more.  Cousins Subs does not allow its employees to defend themselves while on company property or on company time.

...The employee acted contrary to our policy, which states that all staff are prohibited from having possession of a weapon while on company property or while on company business....

Apparently Cousins could care less about the lives of its employees, eh?

Hillary Harridan Rodham Clinton

Apparently the book is lurid.

But from what we've seen, none of it should come as a surprise.

Islam-ist or Obama-ist?

Interesting little note from an article about Omar's daddy:

...AMA [another Muslim propaganda club] no longer exists as a registered nonprofit and it last filed tax returns in 2010. But the organization continues to maintain an activeFacebook account. In its posts, the AMA refuses to consider any Islamist motivation for the attack and lays the blame for Omar Mateen’s massacre which killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub solely on the country’s lax gun laws....

Sounds familiar, eh?  It's not the religion of jihad, it's the gunzzzzz!  Apparently these guys are writing the scripts for the Democrat/Obama-ist party as a sideline.

Steve Hargarten, MD, AGAIN!

As predictable as cold in a Milwaukee winter, Dr. Steve Hargarten calls murders a public 'health' crisis.

Well, it is a crisis, I suppose.  But Dr. Steve is confused.

This is a moral health crisis, which Steve should have learned from his Jesuit teachers.

ObozoConomy, Part XXIV

Jim Quinn, quoted at ZeroHedge:

...We only need the other 7.4 million “officially” unemployed Americans to leave the work force and we’ll have 0% unemployment. At the current pace we should be there by election time…. Not one single full-time job has been added in 2016. There were 6,000 less full-time jobs in May than in January, while there are 572,000 more low paying, no benefits, part-time Obama service jobs...

'S wunnerful, ain'a?

Obozo, Hillary, and the Muslim Brotherhood

Three peas in a pod, apparently.  Bear in mind, this is Justin Raimondo; but he brings in heavy mortars when you scroll down.

...in the wake of the Orlando massacre, Donald Trump said the following on Fox: “Something is going on. He doesn’t get it, or he gets it better than anybody understands. It’s one or the other.” Reiterating this trope later on in the same show, he averred that the President “is not tough, not smart – or he’s got something else in mind.” The Beltway crowd went ballistic. Lindsey Graham had a hissy fit, and other Republican lawmakers started edging away from the presumptive GOP nominee....

Yah, we all know that.  But, well, on the other hand....

...a 2012  intelligence report from the Defense Intelligence Agency predict[ed] the rise of the Islamic State in Syria – and showing how US policy deliberately ignored and even succored it. Secured by Judicial Watch thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, the document says it’s very likely we’ll see the creation of “an Islamic State through its union with other terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria.” And this won’t just be a grassroots effort, but the result of a centrally coordinated plan: it will happen because “Western countries, the Gulf states and Turkey are supporting these efforts” by Syrian “opposition forces” then engaged in a campaign to “control the eastern areas (Hasaka and Der Zor) adjacent to Western Iraqi provinces (Mosul and Anbar).

Oh.  Really?

Yes, really.  It's not just Raimondo, folks.

...Gen. Michael Flynn, who headed up the DIA when the document was produced and who was forced out by the interventionists in the administration. Here is what Flynn told Al-Jazeera in an extensive interview:
Al-Jazeera: “You are basically saying that even in government at the time you knew these groups were around, you saw this analysis, and you were arguing against it, but who wasn’t listening?

Flynn: I think the administration.

Al-Jazeera: So the administration turned a blind eye to your analysis?

Flynn: I don’t know that they turned a blind eye, I think it was a decision. I think it was a willful decision.

Al-Jazeera: A willful decision to support an insurgency that had Salafists, Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood?

Flynn: It was a willful decision to do what they’re doing.
The Muslim Brotherhood is a bad bunch, but they have Obozo's ear.  (Who knows, they might have other body parts of his, too.)

Lots of pundits have explained that Obozo is just really, really, really stupid.  Well, maybe he is.  But he's also really, really, really anti-American.  That's not a good combination.

Is GS4 (Formerly Wackenhut) Sloppy, or Fraudulent?

Seems like GS4 "made a booboo" when they stated that Omar Mateen had been run past a shrink.

Or maybe they just ....ahhhhh.....lied.

The Donald Is Stuck on Stupid, Again

While we are sympathetic with some of The Donald's rants, it's clear that he should not be President.  Not even Vice-President.  Let him be the Mayor of New York City, which deserves him.

Anyhow.

Today Donald Trump went all in, again, in support of the "No Fly, No Buy" plan that Democrats are pushing and filibustering about in the wake of the Orlando terror attack. Speaking with ABC's Jon Karl in an interview that will air Sunday morning, Trump said "it's just simpler."...

Hell's bells, Donald.  It's "simpler" to trash the ENTIRE Constitution and be King.  Obama's trying his damndest to do that.

What's "simple", Donald, is your alleged mind.

You Will Be MADE to Care

Eric Erickson and the gang at RedState have used that phrase 'you will be made to care' a number of times, because it fits.

And here it is again.

The State of Mississippi passed a law which defends the rights of 'gay' couples to become "married."  (Inane, but that's Justice Kennedy's middle name.)  In the same law, Mississippi also protected the right of public officials NOT to perform these ceremonies.

ACLU and the other Usual Suspects sued.  Those public officials--in the alleged 'mind' of ACLU--do NOT have rights.  They must bend over and provide the Vaseline, just like the gays do.

You Will Be MADE to Care.

The Pope's Spittle-Flecked Nutty

Ed Peters makes it very clear:  Pope Francis doesn't really get it.

In fact, it required three short posts for Peters to demonstrate his point.  And a fourth to admonish H.H. for his ill-chosen slam-language on priests.

Meantime, a bloglodyte suggests that a certain nearby priest doesn't get it, either.  We agree with the bloglodyte.  "Teaching" happens in lots of ways.  Pp. Francis is--at the least--teaching us that sloppy, ill-informed language is acceptable from the highest moral authority on Earth.

It ain't.

Bloomberg: Un-persuasive on Guns

One is not surprised to learn that Bloomberg's editors stand with the radicals on 'gun control.'  Of course, they work carefully to seem bipartisan and reasonable.  But in the end it's the same old song:  trust Gummint.

More specifically, Bloomberg would trust the "no-fly" list, as proposed by Feinstein and King.  And since we all know that the no-fly list is chock-full of errors, they kindly allow for appeals.  Wow.  Innocent people have been appealing their placement on that list and have not succeeded.  Or if they have, it has taken years.  Bloomberg knows this and attempts to get around it by yammering about 'no rights to convenience.'

In other words, they changed the subject.  "Convenience" is not the question.  The fundamental right to self-defense and the right to overthrow oppressors is the question.  And when some flunky twit "erroneously" (or maliciously) puts one's name on a Prohibited Persons list--that's oppression.

Neither Feinstein/King nor the Cornyn proposal are going anywhere, of course.  Even if they did, terrorists and criminals would continue to be armed.  But so will the good guys, no matter the whining from Bloomberg.

One more thing:  buying a cupcake is not a fundamental right, no matter the "mind" of the Bloomie editors.  But let's try this one:  printing drivel in the press should be done only by licensed-and-approved people.   Because printing drivel is like buying cupcakes.

Going to the Olympics? Consider Concealed Carry

Interesting note in the news.

...just 49 days before the start of the Olympics, the Rio state government declared a state of "public calamity" (yes, that's the technical term) warning of a risk of total collapse in public security, health, transport and virtually everything else, because as the local government explained, the financial crisis is preventing it from fulfilling its requirements for the Games....

I'm sure that Congress will bail them out.  It's Who We Are, ya'know.

On Brexit and Paul Ryan: Is America Second?

Ace neatly develops the theme found in McArdle's short essay, to wit:  who the Hell are these people who care about 'others' first?  McArdle is discussing Brexit, but relates it to the US.

...For the first few centuries of its existence, America had a chronic labor shortage, which eased any frictions with new arrivals. We also lacked a modern welfare state, to which low-skilled immigrants are likely to be net costs rather than net contributors. I heard the strain on the National Health Service cited multiple times this weekend as a sore spot for Brexiteers, and though the “Remain” campaign says “You’ve got it all wrong, the problem is Conservative budget cuts,” this rather aggressively misses the point: When things are hard, immigrants compete with natives for scarce government resources, and the natives don’t like the competition....

Umnnhhhh....yes.  Ace is a lot more forceful.  (Note:  Ace has a sight problem, so the spelling is left as in the original.)

...Her major point is that the elites of UK and Euorpe -- and, by implication (though she's delicate about it) the US -- have decided that "nationalism" is crude and kin to racism, and therefore, there is no longer any legitimate reason to favor a fellow citizen over a foreigner. To favor the former over the latter is a crude tribalism close enough to "racism" to be racism, for all intents and purposes....

...If a US citizen and a foreign immigrant find themselves in competition -- as all things in life find themselves in competition, outside the babytalk liberal babblings that we're all on the same team -- and the foreign immigrant wins out, well, that's not really anyone's problem but the citizen who lost out. Other US citizens should not have been rooting for the US citizen to prevail, nor think it a bad thing that he lost. To harbor such Pro-US-Citizen sympaties is inherently Racist....

See, That's Not Who We Are.  Right?  And speaking of Paul Ryan...

...At some point, people will believe you when you keep telling them you have higher priorities than looking out for their interests.

Is there a single American out there who believes the radical Randian Paul Ryan is actually looking out for Americans ?...

Now that is a very damn good question.  In fact, it is the question which got The Donald to where he is:  about to pull down the pillars which supported the Republican Elite.

I had asked the question earlier--in a passing-thought sort of way--just exactly what IS wrong with "America First"?  And, like Ace, I do not mean that in a jingoist sense; but rather, in the sense that "America Second" is a rather stupid way to run this country.  I have yet to hear an answer aside from vague and snide references to 'Lindbergh'.  The fact that John F. Kennedy was a member of the "America First" bunch escapes the memory of the "America Second" crowd.

Isn't that a puzzle?

Gov. Abbott: "Let's Have Article 5 Convention!"

Now let's see what Gov. Walker has to say about that, eh?

See BS, Again

Seems that the See BS teevee folks didn't learn much from the Dan Rather Experience.

Now they're running straw-buys of weapons.

The gun store where a CBS News employee purchased a gun for a segment that aired yesterday on “CBS This Morning” has filed a report with the Virginia State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives over concerns the purchase was unlawful....

Naturally, BATF is going sideways on the complaint.

...“ATF is aware of the story, however, the details and the outcome of the sale in question is unclear and it is not evident if a violation occurred,” Corey Ray, ATF spokesperson, told the Washington Free Beacon....

Uhhmmnnnhhhh, no.  It's a criminal violation ipso facto, not dependent on circumstances or results.  Just like Hildebeeste's national security violations, merely doing the deed is criminal; no mens rea required.

The (D) Party Also Hates the Fifth Amendment

The Democrat/Progressive Machine despises the First Amendment (religion), the Second Amendment (overthrowing oppressors), and now (ta da!!) the Fifth Amendment (innocent until...).

(To be fair, both parties also despise the 9th and 10th Amendments.  They get in the way of Absolute Power.)

Here's a (D) 'leading light' on the Fifth:

“The problem we have, and the firewall we have right now is due process, it’s all due process,” [Sen.] Manchin [D] said.

It's not the Fifth.  It's the Obozo Regime handcuffing the FBI, as Sheriff Clarke and others have made very clear.

Yes, all those rights get in the way.  So kiss my ass, Manchin.

Paul Ryan Goes D.C. Native

Paul Ryan is demonstrating that he's nothing more than an artful liar--and he's not too good at that, either.

In an interview with Bill O'Reilly, Ryan said that the House passed a bill limiting Somali immigration.  That was not true.

Worse:  the bill that the House DID pass wasn't worth the toilet paper it was written on.

...As National Review’s Rich Lowry explained at the time, the Ryan-championed House bill “when you get down to it, it doesn’t do anything,” Lowry wrote in a piece entitled, “Uh, the House Bill to Pause the Syrian Refugee Program Doesn’t Really Pause the Syrian Refugee Program.”...

In other words, Ryan has 'gone native D.C.' and is playing 3 Card Monte with the voters suckers.  Nonetheless, Ryan will continue to be worshiped by some RadioMouths, I suppose.

Ron Johnson: "Let's Draft Women!!!"

Can't wait to hear RoJo defend this one to the RadioYappers.

...The Senate approved the fiscal year 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) by a vote of 85-13. The bill would require women to sign up for the Selective Service, which led some Republicans to vote against it on Tuesday....

Yes, RoJo voted FOR that.

Cruz, Paul, and Lee voted against it.

Paul Ryan: Sorta Correct, Except.....

Here's Paul Ryan telling us that Trump is wrong about stopping Muslim immigration:

...Ryan urged Americans to remember that the fight was against radical Islamic terrorism, and that the majority of Muslims were peaceful and important allies in the fight against terrorism.

“This is a war with radical Islam, it’s not a war with Islam,” he said. “Muslims are our partners. The vast, vast majority of Muslims in this country and around the world are moderate, they’re peaceful, they’re tolerant.”...

Well, sorta.

Now tell us, Paul:  in Orlando, Boston, San Bernadino.... WHICH ONE of the 'vast majority' of "partners" stepped up and told FBI/DHS or the local cops that there was a troublemaker in their mosque?

We'll wait while you come up with the names, Paul.

Later, same interview:

..."I do not think a Muslim ban is in our country's interest. I do not think it is reflective of our principles not just as a party, but as a country. And I think the smarter way to go in all respects is to have a security test and not a religious test," Ryan said....

So, Paul.  Your Party is funding Obozo's current mania which is "let them ALL in here".  Wanna explain that, too?

That's SOME Water in Texas, Eh?

Not only the Alamo, and not just Ted Cruz.

Now Texas has Gov. Abbott.

Don't know what's in that drinking water, but it looks like it's worth a try.  Think it would work on Scott Walker, who rolled over on gay "marriage"?

What They Learned in J-School

As it turns out, the Orlando radical Muslim was NOT using an AR; it was a Sig Sauer MCX.

HT:  Bearing Arms

Is Ron Johnson Partially Blind?

Yesterday, Sen. Ron Johnson whistled past the graveyard of Muslim immigration policy, telling a couple of radio hosts that  "...here in America we need positive engagement in Muslim communities, we need to ensure, as best we can the full assimilation of any immigrant populations so people don't feel alienated from society. So then there's less chance of them self-radicalizing,..."  Johnson suggested that defeating ISIS overseas is the best path to defeating ISIS in the USA.

We suggest that Sen. Johnson is partially blind to the reality at hand.  His formulation implies that 'full assimilation' will erase--void--the religious beliefs of all Muslims.  Johnson does not understand that religion, which has been at war with Christians and Jews for more than 1,000 years.

As Andrew McCarthy has stated, there is an "...irrefutable nexus between Islamic scripture, sharia supremacism, and jihadist terror...."  So although most Muslims may well assimilate (and many have already done so), there are plenty who will not.

McCarthy has another suggestion.

...It is simply, undeniably, a fact that some Muslim mosques and surrounding communities are hotbeds of Islamic supremacism, a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam that holds that Muslims must struggle against non-believers — by force and by all other means –- until Allah’s law (sharia) is established throughout the world. Islamic supremacism is not the only way of construing Islam, and millions of Muslims reject it. This, however, does not undo the remorseless fact that millions of Muslims accept it, that it is a mainstream construction of Islam (it is, for example, the Islam of the Muslim Brotherhood), and that it has a considerable following in the West....

Therefore, US authorities should be concentrating their attention on certain mosques.

...Following the 9/11 attacks, counterterrorism policy shifted away from the Clinton approach of treating radical Islamic terrorism as a law-enforcement challenge, which essentially meant prosecutions only after Americans had been killed. The new strategy regarded jihadism as a national-security challenge and aimed to prevent attacks from happening. Such a strategy must be intelligence-driven. It must be based on an understanding of the nature of the threat and surveillance of the places where the threat thrives....

In McCarthy's valuable opinion, those threats are most significant where the Muslim Brotherhood is in control.

There you go, Senator.  Let's proceed with BOTH eyes open.

Orlando, the FBI, and the Muslims

While the usual bleating goes on about 'the religion of peace,' the facts on the ground present a much different picture.

The gunman who murdered at least 50 people in a Florida nightclub early Sunday morning was a follower of a controversial gang leader-turned-bank robber who was released from prison last year...Omar Mateen... was a radical Muslim who followed Marcus Dwayne Robertson...

...Robertson's school may not have been the only source of Mateen's spiritual guidance. The gunman was at the Islamic Center of Fort Pierce with Imam Shafiq Rahman two days before the nightclub attack, according to The Washington Post. That mosque was frequented by American-born suicide bomber Monar abu Salha, who blew himself up in Syria in 2014, and the two knew each other, according to officials. Mateen's association with Salha led the FBI to interview him in 2014....

At this point, it is worth asking just whose protocols the Orlando FBI office was using when they 'cleared' this guy after two--not one, but TWO--terror-related contacts.

Hmmmmm???

Tocqueville's "Soft Tyranny"

Here's an illuminating exposition of Tocqueville's famous phrase "soft tyranny" which just happens to call to mind the "tyranny of relativism" prominently present in the latter-day writings of Pp. Benedict.

...Some have identified Tocqueville’s “mild despotism” with the welfare state. But I think that is to misunderstand the great Frenchman’s intention. Prudent public provision for the poor, or for those who are old and infirm, or a public system of social insurance to compensate for the vagaries of life, is not necessarily “the road to serfdom.” Instead, Tocqueville has something more radical and dangerous in mind. In the name of a more “humane” society, in the name of respect for every human being and every lifestyle (as we say today), democratic man may lose sight of the moral distinctions and the human qualities that allow freedom to flourish. He may identify virtue with softness and lose any sense of the primordial distinction between good and evil. He may come to see the state as a great instrument to flatten distinctions, to equalize all, to bring dignity to the exploited and oppressed (an infinitely flexible category in modern times). Freedom becomes identified with moral relativism and with an indiscriminate egalitarianism. The state becomes the great instrument of social engineering, of a project to create a new man purged of old prejudices (you will have heard resonances of twentieth-century totalitarianism). We have arrived at Tocqueville’s future; his nightmare (cauchemar) is increasingly our reality. To put it succinctly: democracy is at risk of becoming a tyrannical project. How are we to save the democratic project, and a true conception of human liberty and dignity that ought to accompany it?...

Read the rest.  It's that good.

SCOAMF Yaps True to Form

Our SCOAMF* Obozo was true to form today:  '...we have to get rid of the guns, this guy is a h8r, h8 is bad, bad, guns bad, bad, no connections, guns bad bad, h8 bad bad....'

Within 5 minutes of his drooling yappaflappa, ISIS claimed responsibility, as we knew they would.

*Stuttering Clusterf*&^ Of A Miserable Failure.

NPR News: Radio By Idiots

While I was driving this morning, NPR was broadcasting "news" about the Orlando ISIS massacre (now 50 dead and 50++ injured).

They were desperately avoiding mention of ISIS, Muslims, or "radicals", so they were yapping on and on about 'not coming to conclusions before the investigation...'  yadayadayada.  You know the drill.

Flipping over to Dan O'Donnell on WISN, we heard that the shooter declared allegiance to ISIS one or two days ago.  Hmmmmm.  S'pose NPR's Birkenstock Brigade of "reporters" heard about that?

At 6:30 this morning, the local authorities firmly stated that this was Muslim terrorism.  But at noon, NPR very carefully avoided mentioning the local authorities, instead declaring that State and Federal folks have not drawn the connection.

NPR News:  Radio by Idiots.

More Jihad in America

Here we go!  The religion of peace kills 20, wounds 40++ in Orlando.

To overcome this, we need more un-vetted refugees from Syria, says Obozo.

Why Scott Walker Nixed the Exchange

Scott Walker refused to create a Wisconsin exchange for ObozoCare.  The Left screeched, as is their wont.  But Walker foresaw what Alaska is now undergoing.

The death spiral has finally hit Obamacare, at least in one state. GOP politicians in Alaska who say they are opposed to the law are creating a new fund to prevent it from collapsing.

Alaska has already lost several of the insurers on its Obamacare exchange. Next year it will be down to just one remaining company selling policies. That company, Blue Cross Blue Shield, will need to raise premiums substantially in order to cover costs. Faced with the possible collapse of the state’s exchange, which currently insures 23,000 people, the state’s Republican governor recommended passing a law to use state funds to keep prices down....

There will be more of this; the Silly States who jumped aboard the ObozoCare trainwreck will be facing the same problem as time goes on.  Alaska just happened to be the first.

Meantime, Ron Johnson did not "fight" to stop ObozoCare.

Mitt Will Define the "R" Party Soon!

This is good to know.  Mitt Romney has plans.

...he hinted that there’s a role he’s anxious to embrace: that of a former GOP leader who will help to rebuild his party following an historically divisive election.

“I do believe, after November, I’m going to be involved in articulating what the Republican Party stands for.”

Didn't you already do that with Sen. McPain--and lose?

The Abuse of H-1B (Again)

The Old Gray Lady finally caught up with this scam.  Disney pulled the same crap, as did Florida Power/Light, and lots of others, like G.E. Medical.

We haven't heard from Paul Ryan (R-Open Borders) about this, have we?

Think the NYT will credit Malkin, or Norm Matloff--who has been writing about this for years?

Get A Room Warrant!

The Fourth Amendment is part of the Constitution for a reason.  But the FBI would like us to forget all about that stuff so it can obtain scads of information about anyone, anytime, for good reason, or no reason at all.

The usual response to that is 'If you have nothing to hide, then don't worry.'

That worked in the 1950's.  But the current Totalitarians (and the immediate-future ones) have turned Right Order upside-down; what was honorable and right in, say, 1955, is now criminal.  Like, ya'know, keeping men out of the girls' room, or thinking Bad Thoughts about a gang of pants-draggers hanging around near parking lots.

Read the linked essay.  There is a possibility that your elected representative may be persuaded by your communication on the matter, so invest 10 cents and tell them.
A simple, major step towards restoring proper due process while still allowing the FBI to acquire data to keep us safe is to echo Senator Rand Paul and require them to just “get a warrant”. - See more at: https://www.conservativereview.com/commentary/2016/06/caught-red-handed-fbi-asks-congress-to-change-the-law#sthash.nEDSlzrb.dpuf

My Sentiments, Exactly

Please remember that I have repeatedly counseled you to Buy More Ammo.

The United States is currently facing a truly dangerous and unsettling political movement that poses real challenges to traditional concepts of democracy. That phenomenon is, of course, anti-Trumpism. Speaking personally, nothing could induce me to vote for Mr. Trump, but the violent opposition to him is becoming alarming....

Perhaps San Jose was an outlier.  Or is that line of thinking the equivalent of whistling past the graveyard?  The quoted author is decidedly not in the 'whistler' category:

...We can guarantee that certain things are going to happen within the next two months. One is that at least a handful of Trump supporters are not going to turn the other cheek. They know they cannot rely on police protection, and so some will turn up to meetings prepared to defend themselves, possibly with firearms. At that point, someone is going to be wounded or killed. At that point, expect a media outpouring about the inherent violence of Trump, his supporters, and the political Right. These animals are vicious! When attacked, they defend themselves.

The other prediction we can make with fair certainty is that in mid-July, we are going to be facing a major political crisis. The Republican convention will be held in Cleveland July 18-21, and it will assuredly be held in a state of siege. The exact outcome of that event very much depends on police behavior, preparation, and organization. If protesters can be kept sufficiently far removed, then perhaps some semblance of order can be preserved. If not, it is possible that the convention itself might be forced to suspend its activities. Either way, it is highly likely that individual convention delegates and participants are going to be attacked and, conceivably, harmed....

I won't be at any Trump events, nor at the convention.  So can I go all Alfred E. Newman?

If this author is right, the answer is "no."  Because, ah, *stuff* tends to spread.

More "Not Who We Are" Lunacy

Paul Ryan, (R-Open Borders), has claimed that refusing to admit anyone and everyone to the US is "not who we are."

He started a movement.

Legislation that keeps men out of women’s bathrooms is directly contrary to American values, according to assistant attorney general Vanita Gupta, who heads up the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Civil Rights Division....

...Gupta made a similar claim in a speech Wednesday at a civil rights symposium hosted by the U.S. Attorneys Office.

“We also believe that America cannot reach its full potential and promise until every person in this country — regardless of his or her sexual orientation or gender identity — can live free from discrimination, harassment and violence,” she said before repeating her claim that H.B. 2 is contrary to “the values that define us as a people.”...

Sure.  Truly, I say to you:  the inmates are running the asylum.

Buying Rockets at Wally World and Paying the Price

So John McPain, on the take from Elon Musk, wants to use Musk's rockets to launch US intel satellites.  We need those intel-sats.  Musk's rockets are not very reliable, so the McPain Plan is encountering pushback.

What rocket engines do we use right now?  RusskiRockets!!  Yup.  The Russians supply rocket engines for US satellite launches.  They've been doing that since 2000

(Remember who was in the Oval Office for 8 years, ending in the year 2000?  Now, now--stop that.  We know you're thinking that Bill and Hill pimped out the US to the Russkis for their own Foundation's enrichment.)

Anyhow.  Why does the US continue to buy its rocket engines from the Russkis?  Because they are cheaper, that's why.  If we actually used US-built rockets to launch US intel-satellites, we would have to pay more.

It's the Wally World economy,  right?

Do I think that McPain's plan to stuff Elon Musk with DoD dollars is a good one?  Well, it can't be worse than the plan of the other Aging Grifters, the Clintons.

But that brings up a question:  why is the US in a position where it has to feed one grifter or another grifter for INTEL SATELLITES???

Paul Ryan, "Conservative"? Who's Kidding Whom?

Generally speaking, Paul Ryan gets kid-glove treatment from the local radioboyzz.  Probably due to the fact that he's a home-boy-made-good, although he's also a nice guy to meet, greet, and chat with.

But characterizing Paul Ryan as a "Conservative" is simply a fail.

Ryan recently proposed a poverty-fighting policy.  The Daily Signal finds that it is rather impoverished.  *cough*

Their plan?

...While the anti-poverty plan released by House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., lauds the two-decade old [Gingrich/Clinton] reform, it fails to apply its lessons today....

...Temporary Assistance to Needy Families work requirements should be strengthened to require that two-thirds of nonemployed recipients engage in training, perform community service, or at least search for a job under supervision in exchange for their benefits.  Food stamps should be similarly reformed....

....Developing sound welfare policy requires accurate information. Current government surveys exaggerate poverty and inequality because they dramatically undercount welfare benefits and actual earnings. Out of the $1 trillion in government welfare spending, only about 5 percent is counted as income for purposes of measuring poverty or inequality.

...There is a strong consensus that welfare programs should not penalize marriage, and the Ryan anti-poverty plan concurs but does not provide policy to do so....

...There are $22 billion in fraudulent and erroneous cash payments in the earned income tax credit and additional child tax credit welfare programs. Nearly all of this waste can be eliminated by requiring incomes and identities to be verified before cash payments are made and by limiting eligibility to adults with legal custody of a child....(I wish they were kidding, but then, when can you use "common sense" and "Government" in the same sentence?)

...Most low-income families receive benefits from multiple welfare programs. When these benefits are stacked on top of each other, the cost of the total benefit package can be excessive....

...Illegal immigrants receive over $4 billion per year in cash welfare payments from the additional child tax credit program. This abuse should be stopped by requiring recipients to have lawful Social Security numbers to receive aid....(That will NEVER happen on Ryan's watch, by the way.)

...The Ryan plan speaks for the principle of paying for outcomes but seems to envision this as a new layer of spending added on top of existing spending....

...The Ryan plan argues that states should have more “flexibility” in spending. The federal government pays nearly 90 percent of the costs of cash, food, and housing programs. Federalism does not mean collecting hundreds of billions in taxes at the federal level and dumping the money on state bureaucracies to spend as they will.  Real federalism requires state governments to contribute more of their own resources to state-directed welfare programs....(Yah, but then the Feds could not blackmail States, ya'know.  Won't happen until The Revolution occurs.)

That should give the local newsies/radio talkers something to ask Ryan next time he grip-and-grins them.

Don't hold your breath, though.

"Mentally Ill" Shooters? Nope. Find Another Excuse.

As usual, the Captain has this pretty well locked down.

After a shooting...a consistent and dangerous narrative has emerged—an explanation all-too-readily at hand when a mass shooting or other violent tragedy occurs: The perpetrator must have been mentally ill....

... Jeffrey Swanson, a professor of psychiatry at Duke University. “I say as loudly and as strongly and as frequently as I can, that mental illness is not a very big part of the problem of gun violence in the United States.”

...The overwhelming majority of people with mental illnesses are not violent, just like the overwhelming majority of all people are not violent. Only 4 percent of the violence—not just gun violence, but any kind—in the United States is attributable to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or depression (the three most-cited mental illnesses in conjunction with violence). In other words, 96 percent of the violence in America has nothing to do with mental illness.--Quoting The Atlantic

And the Captain has the rest of the story, too; one that the Therapeutic Society will not tolerate:

...The problem is always world and life view, or presuppositions.  If you reject the Biblical account of the origins of evil and the state of mankind, you have to have another explanation.  Psychiatry serves that role, with the mental health physician playing the village witch doctor for the CLEO...

Why is that 'witch doctor'/Chief Law Enforcement Officer line there?

...for the CLEO to decide who gets to have concealed handgun permits. and recommending what kind of laws we have on the books....

Yes, they will be happy to declare you 'psychologically unfit' to keep and bear arms.

The Twelfth of Never and Foggy Bottom

So.

Because Hillary is a slimebucket, she ran all her State Department emails through a Servers-R-Us outfit which "secured" its servers in a bathroom.  (Does this sound like an SNL skit?)

Lots of those emails were classified, so the old bitch is ipso facto a criminal, and arguably is up for charges of treason.

Russia, China, Iran, and ISIS have read all or most of her emails already, but YOU cannot read them until November 31st, or the Twelfth of Never, whichever comes first.

"Forgot" Her Base, They Forget Her

Renee Ellmers ran as a Tea Party Conservative.

Then she went to D.C. and got a bad case of Boehner-itis.

Now she's a footnote in the history books.

Trump & Sotomayor, Racists-in-a-Pod

Ace at AOSHQ makes the point forcefully:  if Trump is racist, so is Sotomayor, who openly and clearly stated that a "wise Latina" will reach 'better outcomes' than a white male.

Or, more broadly, racism happens to be the mode of thinking for the Left.  They reek of it.

Trump is a baboon, of course.

So.  Exactly where does that place Sotomayor on the hominid-scale?

Flynn Comes Out Swinging

Milwaukee's police chief Ed Flynn has (finally!!) called out the BozoBrigade running juvenile "justice" in Milwaukee County.

...For the second time in less than a week, Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn said Monday, June 6th that MPD is catching young carjackers, but they're re-offending because there aren't real consequences....

So the nooz-folks run over to talk with an enabler of these little cretins.  What does he offer?  Bureaucratic bullshit:

"Finger-pointing is not the solution," Hector Colon said.  Colon runs Milwaukee County's Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees juvenile justice.

"It`s a time for us to really come together, look at the data, all of the partners, which are many, and to come forth with effective interventions that could address the problem," Colon said....

Effective interventions, eh?  I can think of a few which do not involve pudding-mouth bromides.

Is THIS "Who We Are," Speaker Ryan?

Since Paul Ryan's House continues to fund Obozo's--ummnnhhh....shall we call it treason?--on the border, is this what Paul Ryan defends as "who we are"?

...It seems that locking up, tracking and processing Other Than Mexican (OTM) border crossers and sending them back to their homeland is a bit too much effort in some cases, so loading them up on buses and dumping them off in places further from the border where they won’t receive as much scrutiny is the preferable option...

OTM's are not Frenchmen or Germans who fell off a cruise ship and happened to sneak into the US.  They are Middle Easterners or Pakistanis.  As you may recall, those areas happen to have a large number of very nasty Muslims in their populations.  We call them "ISIS."

Oh, yes, there's more.  And it's worse.

Rep. Brian Babin (R., Texas) told the Free Beacon that the administration is trying to suppress information about the release of some 86,000 criminal illegal immigrants who have committed 231,000 crimes in just the past two and a half years.--(quoting the Free Beacon)

So, Paul.  Why do you continue to fund this crap?  No balls, Paul?

Plausible Explanation of SJW Behavior

Never thought of this as the explanation, but it certainly has credibility.

Still and all, some folks need a good butt-stroke with a nice, heavy, M-14 or M-1.  Those damn -16A1's are far too light.

Not "Who We Are," Paul Ryan?

ColdFury attempts to tell Paul Ryan that "who we are" does not include national suicide.

A smuggling network has managed to sneak illegal immigrants from Middle Eastern terrorism hotbeds straight to the doorstep of the U.S., including helping one Afghan who authorities say was part of an attack plot in North America.

Immigration officials have identified at least a dozen Middle Eastern men smuggled into the Western Hemisphere by a Brazilian-based network that connected them with Mexicans who guided them to the U.S. border, according to internal government documents reviewed by The Washington Times.  --WaTimes story--

Perhaps these terrorist-types will not get past the wall surrounding Paul Ryan's manse. But most of us do not live with armed guards and walls surrounding us.

"America First" in Perspective

The Left--and its NeoConservative fellow-travelers--use the term "America First" as an epithet.  They despise folks who think that way, and especially those who talk that way.

Well, maybe there's a good reason for using the term.

...The US spends 3.6 per cent of its economic output on defence; Germany spends a pitiful 1.2 per cent. And what little Germany does have tends not to work. When Angela Merkel made the grand gesture of sending weapons to Kurdish rebels fighting Isil, her cargo planes couldn’t get off the ground.

At the time, the German military confessed that just half of its Transall transport aircraft were fit to fly. Of its 190 helicopters, just 41 were ready to be deployed. Of its 406 Marder tanks, 280 were out of use.

Even Barack Obama has been tiring of European uselessness. He recently admitted that he had to threaten to end the “special relationship” with Britain before David Cameron agreed to spend the Nato minimum on defence. Even then, Mr Cameron used smoke and mirrors, counting military pensions and intelligence in the total figure. So at a time when the US stumps up 72 per cent of total Nato spending, the puzzle is not why Americans should be growing fed up with it all. The puzzle is why their patience (and generosity) has endured for so long....

Sauce, goose, gander, ya'know.

Robin Vos, the Tax-a-Holic

Seems like Robin Vos, a popcorn salesman and part-time legislator, has not read the newspapers during the last five years.

So he loves him some tax increases!!

Vos is flogging a D.O.T. study which says that Wisconsin should:

1)  increase the gas tax by 5 cents/gallon
2)  increase driver's license fees from $30.00 to $54.00
3)  eliminate the sales-tax exemption on trade-in cars
4)  increase fees on commercial vehicles, and
5)  go to a mileage-based registration fee.

This is all so that "commerce" will flow freely.

Only about 40 years ago, Allis-Chalmers, Delco, Briggs/Stratton, American Motors, and Kimberly-Clark were all manufacturing and shipping stuff in Wisconsin.  Successfully.  On roads!  (Yes, there were lots of others, like Schlitz Brewing, Pabst Brewing, Ingersoll-Rand, Gilson Brothers....)

Now Allis-Chalmers, Schlitz, Pabst, American Motors and Kimberly-Clark (and lots of others) have vanished.  Yet Robin thinks we should build more roads and tax the piss out of Wisconsin drivers to do so.

Ever hear of the Tea Party, Robin?  Walker did--which is why he's told you to STFU.

Where "Pure Capitalism" Can Be a Pure Problem

Sure, IBM did the "right thing" for capitalism.  The question is whether it did the "right thing" for the USA.

Washington legislators have re-awakened to concerns over the Defense Department's inability to plan for and deal with what is now the final stage in the shift of American microelectronics production offshore. Congress wants the Pentagon to figure out how it is going to deal with issues associated with purchasing "trusted" electronics for military weapons and national security surveillance systems from foreign and foreign-owned producers.

Within the National Defense Authorization Act for 2017 (HR-4909), which passed in the House of Representatives on May 18, Congress directs the federal government to figure out how it can buy "trusted" semiconductors from foreign producers, now that the ownership of its most important source of leading-edge microelectronics has been sold by IBM to a foreign company....

(....based in Abu Dabhi)

There may be no more critical elements in defense systems than the microchips.  So how will DOD assure US military personnel--who trust this stuff with their lives--that all is well?

What's Missing in This Article?

I'll give you the link to the article, which has to do with journalists getting killed in the Philippines.

What specific adjective is missing from the "president-elect's" description?  Is that adjective, or a synonym, to be found anyplace in the entire article?

You're right.  It ain't there, nor any synonyms.  None.  Zero.  Zip.

So here's what's missing:

He's a LEFTIST.

On Liturgical Matters

A very good analysis of today's liturgical situation:

...As mentioned before, the speaker said we should never think that a certain set of preferences (“A, B, C”) is better than another set of preferences (“X, Y, Z”), if both are permitted. But what if it is possible for us to know that A, B, C really is better than X, Y, Z — significantly better? Better because more aligned with the expressions and needs of human nature as understood by psychology, sociology, and anthropology? Better because more in keeping with millennia of Catholic tradition? Better because closer to what Holy Mother Church actually recommends? If one is convinced, on solid grounds, that A, B, C is superior to X, Y, Z, and that the very health and fruitfulness of the Church depend on adhering to the former and phasing out the latter, it may even be a sin not to pray and work for the widespread acceptance of the one and the downfall of the other.

It is claimed that saying and acting on such convictions promotes “tribalism.” But the reality is far otherwise. The Protestants have split into a thousand sects because they abandoned the unity of signs — the signs of papacy, sacrament, liturgy, sacred art. This is what happens to Catholics today, inasmuch as they, too, abandon the Church’s tradition in favor of pluralism, optionitis, and false inculturation.[5] Unity of sign has given way to pluralism of style. The pluralist does not say: “the Church always acted thus,” but “it is up to you to find and choose the way that works best for you.”

This is nothing other than a subtle form of the dictatorship of relativism, under which one is never permitted to say A, B, C is better than X, Y, Z, for fear of offending someone by insisting on forgotten truths. Reason’s natural and noble work of discernment and judgment is compromised by politeness masquerading as charity, fideism pretending to be obedience, and laxity dressed up as humility.
...

Not for nothing did Pius X re-state that "mind AND heart" formula (vis-a-vis sacred music.)  If it ain't both, it's not right; it's not 'the fullness'.
